3 players transferred that time. Why didn't McCarthy get the "man of the match" award ??? By far the best man on the pitch...

Probably should be called "Meath man of the match".

Stuart Lowndes and Craig Lowndes both live in Dunboyne. Their father is from Dunboyne, their grandfather George played for Dunboyne. It doesn't get much more local than that. No one had a problem with a Sligo/Mayo man lineing out at midfield or a Cavan man coming off the bench for Simonstowns 2 in a row....

Who was the Cavan man coming on for Simonstown? lol. There is a bit of difference between moving from Sligo / Mayo and moving from Dublin to Dunboyne for a chance to win something.

And an even bigger difference with a lad transferring from Dunsany to O'Mahony's to win county titles (ROC) in 14 and 15

Mickey Brennan is born and bread in Clusker park in blackcastle probably the most staunch simonstown area of navan. He went to primary school in st olivers, a stones throw from simonstown.
He moved to Cavan for work well into his twentys having played all his underage football for simonstown.

I think he stopped playing with Dunsany when he was 14 or 15...

He was in his 20s and playing for his club longwood and was one of their best players at the time of transferring to Navan and I don't recall too many on here moaning about this or about navan transferring players in

I think you might have the wrong ROC but anyway. He may have been one of Longwood's best players but he made little impact with O'Mahonys and he made no difference to them winning it. if I remember correctly there was a lot of people giving out on the forums at the time about the transfer.....

Im on about RM from Longwood it was someone else on about ROC. Ok grand so it's ok to transfer lads in as long as they don't do well or have an impact or help the club win a championship.. Yeah that makes loads of sense... I must have missed all the uproar about Navan doing this back in the day. My internet must have been down.

Great to see around 7 of Dunboynes players who featured in the county final out for the U21s this weekend. Huge talent in a young bunch of players. I wish them all the best in Leinster this weekend, It would be great to see a Meath side turn over some victories.
