I agree too, I'm from a local rival club but I really hope dunboyne win leinster now and most importantly beat dub champs along the way

Huge credit to Lavin for keeping Dardis quiet! Dunboyne very worthy winners today. Looking forward to watching them in Leinster. meath_ (Meath) - Posts: 25 - 14/10/2018 20:17:50 2146504 Link 0 |
It was a very poor game for the neutral fan, really lacking quality. Game could have went either way and it was a fortunate enough goal that won it for Dunboyne. Thought the ref gave a lot of very soft frees to both teams. Hard to see Dunboyne doing too much damage in Leinster

St Vincent's being beaten in Dublin adds extra interest and the winners of Dunboyne/Wexford champions will have a home quarter final v Dublin champions so, if all goes well, we could have a tasty affair in Navan.

That's a mighty record, fair play to him

Yep. Everyone in county should get behind them. And as you said to beat the dubs champ would be absolutely brilliant.

Agree cathal finn was outstanding today, himself and lenihan have been dunboynes best players for quite a few years now, he never really got a fair go with the meath team, it's about time he gets that chance

Well done to Dunboyne. Thought the game could have gone either way until the goal went in. Summerhill continuously playing high ball in to their forwards was a mistake. Thought ref was okay and overall it was an enjoyable clean game to watch. Poormouth (Meath) - Posts: 193 - 15/10/2018 10:33:36 2146570 Link 0 |
I agree it was a good enjoyable game, (not a classic) but good. which sometimes in finals isn't always the case. I thought it was a bit naive of Summerhill to keep persisting with the high ball when it wasn't working all that well, look the constant high ball has had its day even in club football particularly at this level, it's easily nullified, now the odd one is perfect and mixes things up a bit. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 17035 - 15/10/2018 10:59:01 2146579 Link 0 |
It was a tight game, that didn't have a high skill level, but there was a lot of honest hard work by both and some really good individual and team defending by Dunboyne, that was sometimes made easy by the poor kicks in to the Summerhill forwards, and that was played by two teams who looked very nervous. A lot of poor handling and kicking by both teams but in particular by Summerhill. Both played a similar game with a transition game plan but Dunboyne moved the ball much faster and had more bodies around the middle to link the play, David Larkin for Summerhill was winning the ball in his own full back line nearly and the closest Summerhill players ahead of him were Davy Dalton and Barry Dardis way up in the full forward line. Seamus Lavin was excellent for Dunboyne, as he gave Barry Dardis no space to run at him at all and restricted him to shots under pressure. The shooting from play by both teams was poor with a lot of shots just skying up in the air. Dunboyne were the better team on the day and deserved there win. They should beat the Wexford champions but I wouldn't be to confident after that. You never know however depending who they get. BigJoe14 (Meath) - Posts: 565 - 15/10/2018 11:45:53 2146585 Link 0 |

Congratulations to Dunboyne on their victory yesterday, they're very worthy champions. It's been a very tough year for them off the pitch but on it they've had a season to remember. jackhackett (Meath) - Posts: 765 - 15/10/2018 12:50:54 2146600 Link 0 |
I wouldn't look past Wexford champs to be honest

Well done to Dunboyne, I thought they were the better team throughout but failed to make it count on the scoreboard. The goal was huge, it ended Summerhill's chances, and hard luck to them, they've lost 2 in a row now and that's hard to take. Htaem (Meath) - Posts: 8583 - 15/10/2018 13:27:25 2146608 Link 6 |
Congratulations to Dunboyne . Best team on the day. Summerhill need forward that can perform on the big day, for two years in a row now their forwards were invisible. Surely young Shaw deserves a starting spot.

Eh, I dont know him but he/she pretty much sums up the game from a neutral point of view. The two big positives for me were Dunboyne winning it for Sean Cox and David Gallagher winning his third SFC 20 years after his first. A real unsung hero. Regarding Summerhill, it is a pity losing two in a row but Dunboyne seemed more focused from the start. oldsam_newsam (Meath) - Posts: 638 - 15/10/2018 14:20:09 2146624 Link 0 |
Agree - well done Dunboyne - the best team over the course of the championship. Shaw was a fine player at Minor and did really well last year - perhaps he was carrying a knock - surprised he didn't get on until very late in the game.

Wexford probably have the weakest senior club championship in Leinster. When you see St James Ramsgrange coming up from intermediate and winning the senior in their first year. Kilanerin are very close to doing the same. In 2016, the Wexford senior champions were beaten by 30 odd points in a provincial match. Last year, Simonstown were worthy winners over the Wexford champions. Congratulations to Dunboyne on their success. Toney (Meath) - Posts: 294 - 15/10/2018 16:27:24 2146651 Link 2 |
Im not from Summerhill, I had Dunboyne backed to win from the start of the championship so was happy with the result.
