Replying To Talking_Sense:  "I would not be knocking the Cilles style of play. There only up to Senior, seemed to struggle with so many lads in U20's and with Senior panel and so there entitled to setup as they please. There was loads of talk about Wolfe Tones at start of the year and they took them out. They made Ratoath look very ordinary last day and them full out and the Cilles gifted them a goal as Ratoath struggled to break them down. That was against a backdrop of Cilles missing 4 of their best forwards, 3 of which are top county players. So Summerhill are top side but this is now knockout football and you be foolish to think Cilles are not going to use the artillery they have up front to good effect, defensive system or however they setup. It's Summerhill to lose but this I feel could be real top game"
Why would you not be knocking cilles style of play , you openly admit they are very defensive, nobody enjoys that
You can't say they "took out" tones , they beat them by appoint in the dying minutes of the game, more like they caught them on the hop
I think cilles are a welcome addition to senior and will do well but the football they play is not for me

Come on cilles and the bracks. Cilles set up to win a game. And actually is a welcome difference to hoofing it anywhere

Replying To head4dblackspot:  "What's wrong with Castletown is the pitch is not the best around to play a senior championship quarter final on and that is the main problem
The fact they have a stand means nothing (if you could call it a stand)
The pitch is not senior standard"
The pitch is a good surface, the lights are top notch, the changing rooms are good, there are plenty of examples to be used when complaining about where games are played, Duleek, Athboy, Rathkenny etc just think you are wide of the mark here, I am not a Castletown man btw and have no gra for them whatsoever

Don't think Cilles made Ratoath look ordinary. Ratoath made Ratoath look ordinary thanks to diabolical shooting which had little to do with Cilles.

Having said that, I wouldn't criticize their style. The style they play will be a lot more effective once they have the likes of Biggy, Conlon and Brennan back. At the end of the day, they've come second in the group playing the way they have so you have to count that as a success. With the above three back (I know Brennan is still doubtful), I can see them giving Summerhill a good game.

Either you have something to do with Castletown or its a long time since youve been there. Either way to say the pitch is a good surface is well wide of the mark. The surface is awful and i would say one of the worst in the county.

While i agree with your comments about Athboy and Rathkenny, Duleeks pitch actually stands up well against most others(always enjoyed playing there myself back in the day), albeit the rest of the place doesnt.

Agree on the pitch in Duleek - was there for Cilles against Rathoath on Friday night - pitch was in great nick. Not sure about the dressing rooms - I wasn't in them but the club did a great job with parking and all that!

They may set up to win but they wont be winning any more games this year in the championship. They are the worst team left in it in my opinion and the bookies have them as rank outsiders even though there are 2 teams not even in the quarter finals.

I don't think dunboyne will get over the winner of the prelim as easy as people think, expect kells to beat the tones they have been flying all year and look like a team moving well. Dunboyne haven't been brilliant since the resumption maybe they're timing it to peak now but it should be a very interesting game.

I'd agree, Dunboyne stumbling through the group games and not playing all that well. Lot of lads only coming back from injury, mightn't be 100% for the quarter. Will be a tricky task

As a matter of interest - what is in it for the clubs if they host a game? Do they get to keep the gate?

% of gate goes to county board another to development fund, referees fees, i am not sure of the percentages but clubs do get something out of it and im also pretty sure that if 300 are at a match it will be registered at 150 so YES clubs do get money out of it.

On the venue discussion, it is very clear that the clubs the county board officials are from are getting championship matches! While Barney Allen was in charge Rathkenny were getting a lot of Senior and Intermediate matches, which is a insult for a championship venue! No parking and there is a massive hill on the pitch for God sake! Now the two men who run the CCC when it comes to fixture making are from Duleek and Athboy, and coincidently both venues are used nearly every round for big games despite not having there facilities up to scratch! Dunshaughlin, the home of our county board secretary, receive a huge amount of games, while their neighbours Ratoath receive hardly any especially in the knockout stages! I have a big problem with bringing Ratoath v Don/Ash all the way to Navan, when the game should be in Skryne, a closer venue for both, and a smaller venue would create a brilliant atmosphere compared to Navan and skryne have brilliant facilities from top class dressing rooms, pitch, lights, a viewing balcony for all, a warm up pitch and ample parking.

Many clubs would have 2nd or 3rd pitches better than Castletown.
Something is off with the allocation of senior matches.
Pity there are not agreed standards for allocation of Championship matches. These would include minimum size which might be bigger for Senior than Junior etc.
Sending Senior Matches to a small bumpy pitch is not in the interest of player welfare at all

I presumed as much - Ratoath ceratinly has the facilities for the players as in dressing rooms etc. Also - nice bar although I am sure that doesn't get factored in!
Not sure it is the most comfortable spectator pitch. The fence on the entrance side is high and on the other side the grass slope is great in good weather but in bad weather I'd say it is a bit dodgy! But it is as good as Skryne and Dunshaughlin!

There is a even higher fence in Dushaughlin on both sides which makes viewing difficult, and a dangerous gravel bank on the school side which makes parking difficult and dangerous. Castletown have very good dressingrooms and a stand, but the pitch is not good enough. It is narrow uneven and bumpy. Why couldn't the Wolfe Tones/Gael Colmcilles game be played in Simonstown?

So player welfare should only be considered for our sacred senior players?

Yes. Sure none of the grades below Senior are important . Did you not know that.
