Replying To Roger: "Don't think the host club have to supply linesmen, but they will usually have an umpire or two. Lot of referees turning up without umpires these days. Was at a league final in Pairc Tailteann a couple of weeks ago and the linemen were the Club President from one team and the Club Chairman from the other! A lot of the games are now fixed for grounds where the county board know they will get legitimate gate money back." gate receipts have nothing to do with it, they look after themselves and their friends, gate receipts are the smokescreen

Replying To ratlag: "Agreee with the teams mentioned as the form teams and ones to beat so far, but for Dunderry and Oldcastle their fate is entirely in their own hands. Dunderry play Meath Hill in the last round and if they beat them they go 1 point ahead of them and into 3rd place which qualifies from the group. Oldcastle play Ashbourne in the last round and if they beat them then they go onto 6 points which puts them in 3rd spot ahead of Duleek. If Duleek beat Bective in the last round then all 3 teams will be tied on 6 points so it will go down to score difference which will actually put Bective out of the championship. And then to really shake things up if Castletown somehow manage to pull off a shock and beat Balinlough then there will be 4 teams tied on 6 points Balinlough, Bective, Oldcastle and Duleek) and by the looks of it that will be Balinlough that will not qualify as they will have the lowest score difference.
The draw is the same as it was last year, same format and groups playng each other" Dunderry and Oldcastle would be a tasty prelim quarter final but think Meath Hill could spoil the party. impossible to know the quarter final pairings as yet, and things could change when teams get all their players back from their travels, its all about getting to the knock outs, then it is so open, still feel that Oldcastle will take stopping

Went into Pairc Tailteann last night and by the look of things, Navan O'Mahony's are no longer Keegan Cup contenders. They are gone for a while. Ok, they were missing the Brays and a few other important players but the conveyor belt on Brews Hill isn't as good as it once was.

They are living off reputation only. Not in top 8 teams in senior and that is saying something given the standard these days

Last round of group fixtures in the championship and we have Saturday afternoon throw-in times - some at 2.30pm! All because of his Holyness I believe, bad enough keeping Sun 26th free.
Lot of lads work Saturday and to have championship games on that early on a Saturday is an insult

big weekend for a lot of teams, with the groups finishing up, the intermediate group that finished last night was seriously tight, Nobber going down by 2 points in score difference. That group shows just how competitive the IFC is, Not sure that any team really stands out, it is all on the day, Should make for very interesting knock outs, no doubt the Bracks wont be happy to lose last night but with top spot already confirmed for them any with playing a team scrapping for their lives.

Senior Games this weekend:
Blackhall Gaels V Seneschalstown GFC
Blackhall look doomed to Intermediate for next year - Furze men to win
Donaghmore/Ashbourne V Simonstown
This game to decide runner up in group - I fancy Don/Ash
St Peter's, Dunboyne V Dunshaughlin GAA
Dunboyne look like the form team - expect them to take this
Na Fianna CLG V Summerhill
Local derby - Na Fianna need a huge win to have any chance of progressing - Don't see that happening!
Gaeil Colmcille V Curraha
Curraha still missing too many players so expect GC to take this one with a fair bit to spare!
Navan O'Mahonys V Skryne
Skryne have been going well all year and NOM are out - Skryne to win!
Wolfe Tones V Rathkenny
Tones still in with a shout so expect them to put in a big performance tonight! Tones!
St. Colmcille's V Ratoath
Cillies need to win to be sure of spot - if they lose and Tones win big then Tones will go through. Ratoath are safe and winning the group looks like giving the a 1/4 against either Don/Ash or S'Town - not a prospect they will look forward to. Ratoath starting to show a bit of form - this will be tight but needs must - so expect Cillies to just edge it!
Moynalvey V St Patrick's
St Pat's need a win to avoid a relegation play off spot - This could be a good game!!! Moynalvey should have enough!
Finally - so far this year the Intermediate has been a better competition - I expect the Senior to pick up come the 1/4s

Then I think Ratoath will win handy enough - a lad I work with is a Cillies man and he tells me there was a big wedding yesterday that many of the Cillies players were at!

Going off last year the quarterfinal breakdown is. Dunboyne vs Tones/Kells Skryne vs Simonstown Summerhill vs Cilles Ratoath vs Ashbourne.
A glorious chance for Ratoath to reach the final I think. Fancy Skryne to end Simonstown's 3 in a row. Thoughts on how it will go ?

We'll be beaten out the gate in the QF if we shoot the way we did last night. Think we had around 15-20 wides (and missed a penalty). Should have really won by double figures easy against a very depleted Cilles side. Really missing Bobby O'Brien in the half forwards and both Gavin McGowan and Darragh Kelly went off injured (disaster for the hurlers). Even if we did manage to get by Donaghmore/Ashbourne (and I have my doubts), there will be 1 of 3 teams who've beaten us in championship games over the last number of years.
Regardless, I think it's Dunboyne's year (finally).

Whoops got the possible semi finalists wrong. Regardless, Summerhill or Cilles in the semi finals if we got past Donaghmore/Ashbourne would be extremely difficult.

I'm not a fan of the current championship structure. It's takes a long time to get to this point. Plus we don't have 18 senior clubs. Not even sure we have 14. However it gets exciting now and it's possible that on their day that any team left are capable of winning any of these knock-out fixtures. As an Ashbourne lad the Ratoath game is intriguing. We all know the threat Ratoath can bring and when they click, they have the players to beat anybody. They have a lot of pace and good inter-changeable football. They will hope for good underground conditions. Ashbourne are more seasoned though and have experience of reaching finals and winning Feis Cups, and I think they are more physical all around the park. One duel that really interests me is the one between Conor McGill and Andy Tormey. You have the best full back in the county up against the best full forward in the county. That will be a serious physical battle. Overall the fact that D/ASH are more 'hardy' I think they will pinch it. Simonstown and Skyrne is another interesting one that could go either way, but ultimately not having Nash, O'Rourke, McKeever and Tobin is clearly gonna cost them. Skyrne have a great blend of experience and youth and expect Campion to be on the Meath senior panel next year. I think they'll take the champions. Summerhill and Cillies is an interesting one. Cillies are a good side and will get better. Biggy and Conlon will have to be at their best because they are coming up against seasoned campaigners in Summerhill. Summerhill don't have many stars, but they are simply a good team who are good all-round without being brilliant in a specific area. Pity Gillespie wasn't still playing a huge loss to them last few years. Their experience will see them through here though. The prem tie between Wolfe Tones and Kells is one whereby I would favour Kells. Kells are similar to Summerhill in my opinion. Good enough team to constantly knock on the door, but just can't quite get in. Wolfe Tones may depend a lot on the availability of O' Reilly and Dan O' Neill. They have a great chance of those two are fit but I fancy Kells. Can't see any of them beating Dunboyne who are overall favourites for me.

Perhaps they'll play against Skyrne, it is a while since they kicked a ball for the Gaels. I wouldn't write off Simonstown, but this is a good opportunity for Skyrne..
