Surely the manager will know what louth will do to Reilly, and to his other clubman, their teammates must watch for this from early on and manager should say to ref before game about the two marked men, just my take on it

Its been duly noted in the past & we just expect it now. Manager 100% aware they did their best last year in Parnell Park to put Biggy out from the word go but hes a long time in the game now to know how to handle himself. Refs honestly done care, blind eye always drawn to it but well used it by now.

Loyal, I was talking about in general regarding Biggie when he comes up against a half decent team, of which neither down or louth are.

I hope we may be developing to the point where we focus on our performance, rather than allowing hype play any part in our preparations. Our mental preparation dictates we as a team are positive . We will not allow ourselves to believe in victimhood. Things don"t just happen to us.We make things happen to the opposition. We wont be looking for excuses in advance ....That is negative thinking. We believe we can beat the opposition by playing our own game simply because we are good enough. We don't now fear any team . We have released ourselves from fear generally. That was a big part of our learning curve ,and learning is ongoing in all areas, We have a game plan to suit us,and that will allow us to play to our strenghts. The opposition can think what they like.that is their business. ................I believe if we can forget about victimhood, and replace it with belief then anything is possible

I don't see the attraction in the style of football Tyrone and Donegal play. It will only get you so far, you will never win the big prizes playing so defensively. The 3 best teams in division 2 this year Roscommon, Cavan and Tipp played a good brand of football with a good mixture of direct kick passing into their forward line. For me meath don't have the correct balance yet in their play. Too many times I've looked at the team this year even going back to their first game in carlow and we have no men inside the opposition 45 which I think is crazy. Cavan gave us a lesson in good forward play which didn't involve hoofing it in! There should always be a couple of options of direct ball into the full forward line. I think the kildare game knocked the confidence out of the team last year and we haven't recovered since. Hopefully a few more wins before the championship begins will restore some confidence to the team and we can get a better balance to our play as I feel we have some very exciting attacking players.

ive seen to many times in the past few years where biggy has gone hiding in big games for bith club and county. he should be relishing this being so close to the louth border but it will remain to be seen if he performs

Biggy will be up for this, if you look at his track record against Louth he will be no different this weekend. Been so close to the border of Drogheda these games mean alot to him, trust me we will see him at his best Saturday.

How did he perform last time we played them ?

Ah Dec until Biggy produces it against the big teams he'll never be considered a top player. It's all well and good setting the world alight against the Downs, Louths and Clares of this world

To be fair to the man, has he ever not performed against them? He's always been the standout performer when ever we beat them them. Jinxie (Meath) - Posts: 6158 - 28/03/2018 21:07:24 2089165 Link 0 |
7 points against them

Exactly that's my point. I don't like this lazy analysis of oh he never performs against the big teams bs. Best player v cork, one of best v down (when it mattered) best v Dublin last time we played them, best v Westmeath in lsf until he was wrongly black carded, and we all know what happened after that , best player v Kildare IN LEAGUE last year, actually had decent game v donegal but was well marked . Also the better teams will predominantly seek to minimize his efforts as they feel he is our key player, they have the defenders to mark him, had a fantastic game v lee Keegan in the club final. I could go on and on , what I don't get is why other players aren't held to the same scrutiny?

Ah as most of you probably remember I am no fan of Biggy but he does deserve credit for how he has performed in the last couple of games. He was our best player against Cork and Tipp. He also performed against Down when it was do or die time for this Meath team. Anyone looking to blame him for our poor run this year need to look elsewhere in my opinion. Barney123 (Meath) - Posts: 676 - 30/03/2018 07:52:33 2089473 Link 12 |
I think Biggy is looking in the best shape we have seen him in, in a long time. He is quicker and more alert on the field. Hes not standing around with the hands on the hips, getting stuck in and shooting alot of fantastic points. Alot of people were saying hes getting older now and not as quick, he has proved to us all that is not the case. Loyalroyal17 (Meath) - Posts: 627 - 30/03/2018 10:30:48 2089496 Link 0 |
Simple "the dunner" because he's capable of playing a level above the rest but doesn't always deliver..victim of his own success.. Enjoy him while we can because when he is gone he will be missed the most

Here is the problem for me we have one of our best players running up and down the field after a half back give him a more deeper role and he get more scores. This comes from planning and coaching the lad. It's not rocket science
Reco (Meath) - Posts: 419 - 30/03/2018 11:18:39 2089511 Link 0 |
True....Its not rocket science and if we can all see that i really cant see how Managers etc cant!!
