Does podge McKeever deserve a start on home turf? bert09 (Meath) - Posts: 1668 - 24/03/2018 09:57:59 2087373 Link 0 |
Firstly ain't mumbo jumbo. This is what I have been told by someone who Would know more than most. (obviously I'm not gonna say who). Don't shoot the messenger, only relaying what I heard. However I agree it means nothing until it is proven on the field royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 17035 - 24/03/2018 12:14:12 2087396 Link 0 |
Exactly it means nothing ! Time for these lads to stand up and be counted and try and rescue a disaster of a year ..

Yeah. Remain in doc 2 and have decent championship then there is the possibility of a decent year. A good run in qualifiers could even see us sneak a super 8 position (ok looking unlikely at moment) . But all that matters now is beating Down, nothing else matters

Hard to be positive given our "performances" of late. Royalio11 (Meath) - Posts: 750 - 24/03/2018 16:10:26 2087438 Link 1 |
Ah I'm not having a go at you, its just I take comments like these with a pinch of salt and I'm not sure they add much to the conversation. Its like before the days of the internet you might talk to a guy involved with a team before the start of the championship and he would tell you that the team training was great and the guys were flying and he never seen them so fit and they were catching pigeons they were so quick and he never seen such a united bunch of guys. Then you go to the first game of the campaign and the lads would be as flat as pancakes and fighting with each other before the ref blew for half time. At this stage its all about performances and I think ours have gone backwards since the league started and it can be hard to get out of that cycle. As for tomorrow do not rule out the draw. I dont know whats going on behind closed doors but it does look like something has happened. Since Clare game we have looked really awful hammered by everyone we are ultra defensive but leaking way to many scores. We have gone from a team that looked out of steam in the lst 30 mins under o dowd too a team that still has a brief 10 good mins under mcentee apart from clare game. He also subbed dan oneill and s tobin before half an hour vs tipp which is very strange both looked fine . These lads are not top class but they should be competing with the likes of cavan and tipp surely ? Sadly we need to win 2 games to stay up and i really cant see this. the football we all have had to witness has been a complete and utter disgrace and if something isnt done soon it will be another year of this rebuilding nonsense. Haha. Met plenty of them lads in my day. Lol. Look as I said, to this person and I'll say here again. That's great , now all they need to do , is do it on the field. Since Clare game things have gone skew ways. Now I don't know what happened between that and Cavan game, but something did, or so it would seem Anyway a win tomorrow will settle everyone royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 17035 - 24/03/2018 18:20:31 2087477 Link 0 |
Giving a good sunny day for tomorrow. Real hope a huge crowd turns out and bring plenty of colour and we do out bit to collectively, management players and fans, to lift this dull cloud. Jinxie (Meath) - Posts: 6158 - 24/03/2018 20:07:31 2087518 Link 1 |

To say a Super 8 spot is unlikely is the understatement of the year. We're so far away from the top 8 it's actually frightening. This year, with the exception of one of two games, has been a huge disappountment thus far. However, I do expect us to defeat both Down and Louth and preserve our D2 status for another year. Huge pressure on Andy Mc if we were to go down.

So just reading Kevin McStays comments in the paper and on the home page here where he is critical of the way the fixtures were scheduled and has described it as a big gamble by the GAA. ROYALOPTIMIST (Meath) - Posts: 178 - 25/03/2018 12:55:59 2087654 Link 0 |
I think it is reasonable to expect to see a Meath team where shortcomings in aspects of preparation are dealt with. We now have to see evidence of where learning from those mistakes is visible. Opposition to day is not out of top drawer, so a win for us is a reasonable target. With planning ,and awareness of tactics , belief, determination ,and teamwork that should happen. Best of luck to Andy and the lads in an all out attempt to restore us to the status of being competitive again
