Anybody know if a minor football panel has been announced. Won Gerry Reilly last year, so some talent there LeitrimRoyal99 (Meath) - Posts: 833 - 02/04/2019 12:13:52 2177235 Link 10 |
Would be favourites to win Leinster this year as won Gerry Reilly last year for 1st time in years. They are a very strong panel and well coached and would have added under good few new faces from last years under 15s . They have some serious attacking potential in Finnerty from skryne and Frayne from Summerhill I have heard .

Knew they won Gerry Reilly. Great to hear there are some 2003's that are making an impact too

Now that the u17 league is over most seventeen year olds have no football from 3 months. Most will now take up soccer to fill the gap and a lot will not return to gaa. sad but true bobjaffacake (Meath) - Posts: 1398 - 08/04/2019 10:44:23 2178020 Link 1 |
Yep Soccer has changed now to under 18 ( Youth League ) instead of under 17 in Meath to accommodate these young lads and will run from March to October. Some Players will be lost to Gaelic games as a result and especially in middle to small clubs every person counts. Some parishes with maybe 2-3 schools ( could be 1200 children plus ) can bearly produce underage GAA teams form under 15 upwards but soccer teams don't seem to have any problems with numbers .I think Meath underage GAA really needs to look at this and seems to be only interested in Underage development players playing all year around and not everybody is a superstar!!

Good game between Colmcilles and Simonstown this evening. Colmcilles deserved winners but they are not 10 points better than simonstown. Will be an interesting game if they meet later on in the year. Barney123 (Meath) - Posts: 676 - 14/04/2019 20:24:13 2178821 Link 10 |
I have to say I think it was very unfair that certain u17 clubs were allowed to use their minor county football players this weekend while others were not ! The meath management refused to release trim and kiltale players for hurling county finals on Saturday but let st colmcillie and Simonstown players play yesterday. bobjaffacake (Meath) - Posts: 1398 - 15/04/2019 13:14:50 2178932 Link 0 |
Poor Decision - must have been afraid they might get a belt off a sliothair ha ha !!! Is there many players from Klltale or Trim involved in the football panel ? Would imagine most on Hurling panel but I don't know

Summerhill players play hurling with kiltale. 2 are on the u17 football panel. Very unfair on young players to miss out on a club final. A player could get injured just a easily at football training

Isn't that a disgrace putting parents and child in a situation to make a choice. Every parent and child's dream is to represent your club first then your County but now it is all about the COUNTY what happens at club level is not relevant. Yet they say it is. I think that is a disgrace having club finals on and players having to go play for there County in challenge game or trails on the same day/time and venue that is deplorable a disgrace. The County board should not let this type of thing happen. Knowing the clubs will ask for the player to be available to the club and get a cock and bull story of the County board you must play final .................. A DISGRACE ALLGAA32 (Meath) - Posts: 57 - 16/04/2019 11:46:28 2179089 Link 1 |

Good to see Conor Gillespie back involved. What a talent of ball winning ability. Also heard one of the Queeney's a selector must be Jamie.

Conor O'Donoghue (Dunboyne) - manager Conor Gillespie (Summerhill) - selector Tommy Owens (Drumconrath or Meath Hill, not sure which) - selector Brian Queeney (Na Fianna) -selector Vinny Ryan (Ballinlough) - selector Eoghan Frayne (Summerhill), Adam McDonnell (Summerhill) , Ciaran Caulfield (Trim), Sean O'Donoghue (St. Colmcilles) and Oisín Keogh (Skryne) are some of the players who are minor again in 2020.
