if we don't beat Louth Andy should call it a day this is a mad football county and the way we are playing and results are just not good enough. goalkeeper in and out again just sums up the hold lot

Who would you have instead of Andy?

when a manger loses controll what do you do leave him there is it and hope for the best. I get a three man management team Barry Callaghan graham Geraghty Trevor Giles or Darren Fay hopefully they will get everyone playing for us . no matter what anyone says the 25 players or so we have are not the best 25 players in Meath

I can't talk too much because I was the same until recently, changing the manager will not make a slight bit of difference to Meath football, we have been poor for a number of years and look at all the managers we had. Not one made a single difference in my opinion. Joe Sheridan actually said negatively effected the team changing the manager so much. Yes that is a very good question...and forces us to face the reality. There will not be anyone made to measure for the job any way. We knew that when Andy took over, and that remains the case. So Andy stays ,but he must know remedial work is essential, and has to be key in identifying the needs, and in implementing plans to meet those needs. Probably means bringing help on board. That help has to be people known to have the Key skills required at this time. Those skills relate to areas of management mainly. God knows those needs are painfully obvious at this point. Keep Andy who can only benefit from the help.He deserves that help... no question. To continue as things are is a waste of time and effort. Equally to change manager at this time is also a waste of time. ANY manager will not be made to measure. So invest in the man who took the job when needed. I think the powers that be have an important task in hand now,and that is not to fire Andy Mc Entee but fill the required needs. Of course if Andy say's no, then that's a different story. Onwards and upwards.

Would Barry go for the job? I wouldnt like to see Fay or Geraghty near the set up. Both Meath legends no doubt but not manager material in my opinion.

As much as I am scratching my head at some of the decisions made by Andy I am not in favour of changing him at this point.

to be fair even if Louth beat us I don't see him losing his job right away but lose to Louth and longford in may do you really think he should be manger in 2019

Very little the manager can do if the players are not there.

I'd like to see them prove themselves with underage. Neither have excelled at management to date. There should be a clear succession plan where you'd like to think the under 20s manager would be given a shot at seniors over time. And the under 20s manger should be there on merit also... bert09 (Meath) - Posts: 1668 - 18/03/2018 19:25:52 2085480 Link 0 |
we have very little underage success to go out so no matter who gets the job we will be taken a chance. there was no-one more behind Andy then me but after 18 months we are fallen back and getting worst instead of Better and he is not getting the best out of the players . after Micko it should have improvements rather then backwards meath1977 (Meath) - Posts: 459 - 18/03/2018 19:37:06 2085489 Link 14 |
What's the rush to get Geraghty as manager? While he was one of the best players in Ireland for over 15 years, his managerial CV isn't exactly glowing. CastleBravo (Meath) - Posts: 1391 - 18/03/2018 20:27:55 2085525 Link 13 |
Clare beat Cork, we hammered Clare, so where is the form guide atta (Meath) - Posts: 662 - 18/03/2018 20:53:32 2085535 Link 0 |
the fact he wants the job is one reason and what a player for this county. Seamus kenny is another man who is doing a lot of work at the moment why not get these lads together and let them try and get Meath back where we belong. it's Andy's chance now but at this stage it's not working and I don't buy this ## that we don't have the players. it's up to the manger to get players to buy into what they are trying to do

Agree 100%...........good footballers do not necessarily make good managers. Forget about the personality ,and focus on the skill set required for the job. Most critical in my view is the ability of any potential manager to assess his own strenghts and weaknesses., His willingness therefore to improve without having to be pushed to do so. Without that ability to self assess and self develop you are not management material anyway. Admittedly a manager may need assistance in measuring his key skills such as management style, delegation, using resources wisely human and material. setting realistic targets. identify when help is required ,and report on ongoing needs as required. etc. etc.

So I have been out all day and am a bit behind on whats happening. Am I right in assuming that the Down v Tipperary game will have to be played next weekend with the final round of games in the division pushed back to the Easter weekend? they could play it mid week but it's unlikely as meeting is not till Tuesday. snow will hardly be all gone at nine in morning for pitch inspection for our game as hard frost tonight

Ok thanks. For the integrity of the competition I am assuming all final round games have to be played at the same time so I'm assuming next weekends games will have to be pushed back to accommodate any outstanding games before the final round is played
