Championship draws 2018

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

The draws are made and the real football season starts in 5 weeks!!

Who do we fancy in each grade?! Who has got the tough dates?!

Senior - I'm predicting O'Mahonys to rediscover their moho and to be closely followed by Kells.

Inter - Nobber or Dunderry for me. Dunderry with the easier group.

Junior A - Carnaross or a strong 2nd team.

Junior B - Kilbride look a cert for me. Slane I assume will get their act together and push them.

What do people reckon?!

Has to be Dunboyne's year surely in the senior but you never know ??? . Simonstown not gone yet if they get Nash back . Tones and Skyrne looking decent . IFC not sure maybe Duleek or Trim . JFC B has to be Kilbride or Slane with Na Fianna outside chance depending on injuries

I notice Na Fianna are no longer mentioned here in regards to the business end of things, have they regressed a lot since promotion and reaching final?

Na fianna were such an exciting team to watch a few years back but seem to have lost something can't see them winning anything anytime soon winner will come from simonstown, ratoath or dunboyne the likes of kells summerhill and the tones to do well but won't have enough to win one outright

And Fianna were badly hit by injuries last year and still made it out of their group (barely, I will admit). While they could actually be stronger this year they might not get out of a tough group.

Group A Dunboyne, Ashbourne and Simonstown in that order
Group B Summerhill, Skryne and O mahoneys
Group C Ratoath, Tones and Moynalvey

Relegation Blackhall, St Pats and na fianna with Blackhall to go

Intermediate is between Nobber, Dunderry and Oldcastle. Meath hill to go down

A Second string to win junior A

Think your being a bit harsh on Na Fianna
Dunshaughlin more likely to be in bottom place fighting for survival with pats and blackhall

Dunshaughlin on same group as Blackhall. Na fianna in with O Mahoneys, Summerhill, Skryne, Kells and Curraha. Think they will struggle in a tight group

Cant wait for the championship to get rolling, more I look at it the more I fancy Syddan to be the dark horses in the IFC, going well in the league and have got the best group, they played my our own lads a couple of weeks ago and beat us but should have beat us out the gate, and they way the set up, they will be better when weather improves, lot of young lads and very quick team, could maybe struggle on a tight pitch against a physical team though

Yeah id have a similar view to you longroadback they could definitely be the dark horses in the IFC. They are a team that will only improve as the year goes on and the pitches dry up. They have I'd say the youngest team in the IFC lots of pace and skill and will run most teams of there feet on big pitches. They also got a nice group which they should be getting out of and are going nicely in division 2. What game did you see them playing in longroadback? What do they set up?

Seen them against Castletown, They seem to set up fairly orthodox, man to man at the back, pull one of the full forwards out the field, pace everywhere. they are open at the back though and gave away 2 daft goals in that game and they missed a lot of chances that day, still scored 2 10 though

Blackhall are certainties to go down. The club are a shambles from top to bottom.

Can see Na Fianna struggling against Summerhill & Kells as are more seasoned teams . But wont be against Mahoneys and Skryne and they should beat Curragha . They are a bit young but have a lot of players coming through from Minor Divison 1 and will be a force in a few years if they remain senior . I expect Summerhill & Kells to top group with toss up between the rest for third
