I find it hard to believe that you baboons think that anything said on this forum will make one jot of difference.

Unfortunately there are a number of deluded supporters who post (some with great regularity) who think everything they say is important and what is posted makes a difference. I also expect that players or indeed management do not read these sites. Some of the guys who are now complaining were complaining about the last manager (forked tongue I would suggest). I wish all players and management past and present the very best. browncows (Meath) - Posts: 2189 - 28/02/2018 14:19:21 2081236 Link 17 |
Ignore the troublesome scribes, if ever a team needs support it's Meath now and if the game goes ahead Sunday I hope we have a good crowd there, although judging by the weather I would expect an early call on postponement for this one, the O'Byrne Cup could be in for another change of date Richieq (Meath) - Posts: 3590 - 28/02/2018 14:30:28 2081238 Link 14 |
I'm hoping we will get an early call on postponement this time, its looking very obvious it wont be going ahead at this stage. We will see what the county board really thinks of supporters if people travel from Cork to be told last minute that its called off. Think we should just forget this O'Byrne cup at this stage.

Headquaters have said a decision will be made of Friday, think majority, if not all games will be postponed to following weekend

Indeed. I think though now unfortunately that there will be no game on Sunday. Huge amount of snow fell last night, and I had a very slow drive to navan and back (work related) today. Obc final will be postponed again. I would be shocked if any games go ahead, maybe in Ulster which is normally the area you would assume would be worst hit. Anyways even if someone is always at the thumbs down thing with me or disagree with me on everything, or agree with me on everything or in between, I wish you all well over these next couple of days , keep warm, look after those who may be less mobile than yourself, but above all keep safe, the next 24/48 are not going to be pleasant. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 17035 - 28/02/2018 19:32:46 2081318 Link 4 |
Exactly - enough ppl from Cavan Louth and Dublin I'm here talking nonsense

Looking at the forecast it would be wise to cancel the matches, the travelling public also need to be taken into consideration as lot may be driving on roads that had packed snow which is slow to move. I cannot see pitches being playable even if the snow starts to melt on Saturday (which it may not)- very wet pitches can be quite dangerous for players. Maybe a game of snowballs may be possible though. Rd don't lose the spirit, better times may be on the way- some folk like to wind you up. Wish everyone safe travel and be careful. browncows (Meath) - Posts: 2189 - 28/02/2018 19:53:02 2081324 Link 13 |
Game off lads, sensible decision in the circumstances, the O'Byrne cup will be played the week before Christmas at this rate, weather permitting Richieq (Meath) - Posts: 3590 - 01/03/2018 12:48:36 2081418 Link 13 |

Feels like it. I'm home and heading the warnings, I hope if possible everyone else is too. If at all possible.

There should be no panic about O'Byrne Cup. It would be better than a challenge match in the run up to the championship. In the past the competition was held during the summer months. In 1967 Meath played Offaly in the s/f in Navan after the Leinster final and before the All-Ireland semi-final and it did them no harm at all. Just to let all you young one know Sam was on the sideboard lnext month.

Now there's an interesting stat :-) I wouldn't be in any panic about it either, indeed playing in the run up to the Longford game could be the best time alright

Yes and in 1954 meath played louth three times before the all Ireland final and lost twice but still beat kerry in the final. So harm in playing westmeath later on. MeathWawa (Meath) - Posts: 61 - 02/03/2018 22:12:10 2081644 Link 0 |

Was fairly late and us getting home from the Tipp game been played at 7pm. No consideration is ever put in for supporters traveling.

Well I wouldn't ind that when its down as a night game, it lends itself for staying over if possible aswell. I see its a double header with the hurlers now aswell which is a welcome addition Jinxie (Meath) - Posts: 6158 - 05/03/2018 16:54:46 2081976 Link 0 |
