If Meath beat Cavan they will be in a fantastic position to win promotion. There is no outstanding team in this division and apart from the Wee County the other teams are taking points off each other in this division two. Cavan and Meath will be a hard one to call. Form goes out the window when there is a derby match. Cavan have won the last couple of league matches against the Royals but that will count for nothing when the ball is throwing in at 2.00 pm this Sunday. Well seeing as the topic was on Paddy O Rourke playing outfield I'll let you choose any of them that he played with Meath as I can't remember him playing well in any outfield game. From my mempory he was played outfield in 2011 season? Leinster Q/F against Kildare 0-03 (1 point from play) Qualifier Round 1 Louth (0-00) Qualifier Round 2 Galway (0-00) Qualifier Round 3 Kildare (0-00) 1 point in 4 outfield games from Full Forward.........4 intercounty Defenders and very little influence. On Mickey Newman its pretty simple really, he hasn't had a relly good game for Meath in the last 3 years (since 2015 seaon) by my recolection due to injury and loss of form. As I said in the post, I hope he can rediscover his form of 2013 and prove me wrong but based on his performances with Meath over the last 3 years while fit he isn't up to the standard required, its that simple, so on that basis (I'll repeat 3 years of below par form) I think his day is gone, unless as I again stated that a year of league games and championship with his club with no county commitment distracting him can help him rediscover it. Like most of Ratoath, I've been here all my life becasue if I had moved in from Dublin, Kildare etc I would be supporting them, but I would expect narrow mind individuals like yourself to believe that. ratlag (Meath) - Posts: 323 - 13/02/2018 16:37:52 2076580 Link 3 |
Jaysus if you replaced the word Meath with America they could turn that in to a Donald Trump slogan. Do you want to build a border wall around the East of Meath. Or maybe split it North and South and that would suit you. The amount of ignorance coming out of your mouth is a joke. Nobody in the county hates the Dubs more than those in Ratoath, Ashbourne and Dunboyne that have lived through a failed attempted invasion. But if you hate these clubs so much I'll guess we'll take back the 1987,88,96 and 99 All Ireland because a Dunboyne man was manager. Or we'll take away 49 because a Dunboyne man was captain and sure Kilbride are in the same parish so we may as well take away 1967 because the Quinn's helped win that. So don't you dare take a shot at my support of both county and club football in Meath. I would love nothing more than for North Meath to be producing these "hardy, tough, ballsey" footballers but I don't see too many of them lying around unless you can produce names

Here we go again, somebody who hasn't a clue who they are talking about making assumptions I for one am a born and breed Ratoath man and am sick of lads from other clubs assuming I'm from Dublin How many time have a Ratoath team been shouted at from the sidelines when things are going against the opposition "yer only a pack of dubs" Total horse s&€t and small mindedness head4dblackspot (Meath) - Posts: 447 - 13/02/2018 17:29:35 2076592 Link 2 |
Where did I say I hated Ashbourne, Kilbride, Dunboyne etc? And why would anyone hate Dublin people? Or are you are insinuating that you hate Dublin people? To quote your goodself..."Nobody in the county hates the Dubs more than those in Ratoath, Ashbourne and Dunboyne that have lived through a failed attempted invasion"....that's pretty strong lad. Isn't Trump the one that's supposed to hate immigrants? Are you the Irish Trump maybe? I did say however that since he doesn't seem to remember Paddy O Rourke playing a good game outfield for Meath and he thinks Mickey Newman is finished at 27, that maybe since he clearly hasn't a clue what he's talking about, he could be a recent addition to Rataoth and is therefore new to Meath football, which going by recent census figures is in fact a statistical probability. Now Take a deep breathe and relax yourself. And go easy on the Dubs, they are your fellow Irishmen. Crinigan (Meath) - Posts: 926 - 13/02/2018 18:01:53 2076598 Link 13 |

Ah come on get a grip RD. It's hard to ever take your knowledge of football serious when you come out with outlandish comments like 'Down can be a formidable force on their day'. This is a very average Down team and as their supporters will readily admit it's their worst team in living memory.

Still managed to beat Monaghan last year and reach Ulster final. Even your beloved Kildare couldn't beat Monaghan, and you were one bigging up Roscommon who were beat by???? Oh yeah Down.

Royaldunne no need to apologise for tipping the Wee County to be relegated. In all fairness the bookies had tipped them and Clare to be relegated. Louth have done well to do back to back promotion's together. But Division two is another step up altogether. At the start of the campaign I had tipped Cork and the Rossies to go up and Clare and Tipp to go down. Louth are already three points from safety and need to beat Roscommon in their next match for any hope of staying up.

Like the Dubs yourself do you? Mannerly and respectful towards you at all times are they? Never shove their cockiness in your face and claim "ah sure there was nothing out here till we moved out". Come out to Ratoath some night and bask in their presence so over a can or two of Dutch Gold sndva batter burger and you'll soon appreciate how much "Meath" the native Ratoath people are and how whilst outnumbered we still let everyone know that Ratoath is County Meath and not an extension of Dublin 15 as certain people from more northern reaches of the county like to proclaim from the sidelines.

Couldn't agree more a very over the top response to the suggestion that two players, who are showing excellent form at the moment, maybe should be considered if they keep that form up. Perhaps they should take Donal Lenihan as inspiration. Donal looked nothing like a county footballer when he first broke into the panel but by virtue of his consistently excellent play at club level he was given more chances and eventually clicked for him. Now he's a mainstay. I personally believe that he was helped by the club he plays for but I suppose if you are from a bigger town you have more of a constituency pulling for you.

Well said. Rathoath like dunboyne and Ashbourne are very passionate about their county and rightly so.

Where I enjoy reading the different views, every now and then I feel I need to post and suggest you just keep it to the football lads!!The whereabouts of any club in the county is irrelevant ,we are all looking for the same end result!!No other county forum engages in this rubbish!
