Louth look certain to drop. Don't know about the other spot, but Clare possibly to join them. Jinxie (Meath) - Posts: 6158 - 11/02/2018 16:08:21 2075828 Link 0 |
No game this weekend but the dice rolled our way with other results, a win over Cavan is now crucial as it would put us on top outright after 3 games which would give us a great chance of promotion. Louth look doomed but expect them to pull out all the stops when Meath come calling, Clare look the most likely to join them alright but look I would not have envisaged them drawing with Tipp today after last weekends mauling so it just proves how unpredictable this division can be. Its still extremely tight though. Royalio11 (Meath) - Posts: 750 - 11/02/2018 16:44:23 2075856 Link 0 |
Our next league game against Tipp is vital. We are capable of winning it if we have belief. ziggy320001 (Meath) - Posts: 2432 - 11/02/2018 17:25:20 2075879 Link 0 |
Ye have it in the bag lads better manager than the rest put together, I seen with my own club what he can do with even a team that were ranked mid table in Dublin, if and when Jim steps down and if we were ever to go outside, Andy would be only one from outside looked at ever, the result against Clare shows what he can do, ye might not have world class players, but ye have a top top management , I hope ye get promoted joeblogs10 (Dublin) - Posts: 104 - 11/02/2018 19:18:50 2075949 Link 3 |
I actually we have a lot of very good players that need to believe. Sean Boylan once put that into players, Andy may do the same.

We need to keep things relaxed. We are in great form but we still have to play the two best teams we have to face yet in Down and Cork. So let's take nothing for granted. Need to remain 100% focused. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 17035 - 12/02/2018 12:39:42 2076195 Link 0 |
Well if you say so then obviously you are correct grahamc9897

If he played for Dunboyne, Ashbourne or Ratoath the clamouring to get him back involved would be incredible.

Ohh that's a comment that sounds like it comes from a man with a serious chip on his shoulder!!! When you see the difference the county players made to Ratoath in their demolition of Simonstown on Sunday I think there would be every right to be clamouring for their services, in relation to O'Rourke I have avocated putting him outfield for the county again over the past two years, pressure on him in goals was too great and when he made any sort of error he was torn apart, if he ever does return to the fold I would have him out the field where he could be a formidable asset.

Paddy should have been pulled from goal a long time ago if you ask me and put out field where he is at his best. Dont get me wrong he was a fine keeper one the best but when he made mistakes he was always humiliated by supporters. I honestly dont know how he managed to put with the abuse he used to get for so long, demoralizing the chap. I do think its an awful shame that we ended up losing him completely.

No axe to grind against any of the clubs in particular. However, the fetish for picking players from these clubs is extremely odd. Despite having the "best players" they never win anything of note, when the pressure is on they collectively lose their nerve. It's the antithesis of Meath football of yore maybe that's why the county team is the way it is.

Well those Ratoath players have won plenty of underage titles, county and provincial intermediate titles and a division 2 AFL title last year, 2017 was only the second year ever for Ratoath at senior and whilst its accepted they made a bit of a haemes of the QF v Wolfe Tones, they have progressed and will progress further I think. The current squad members from Ratoath and Don/Ash are merited members of the Meath squad and indeed have been some of the best performers this year so far so I don't think it's a fetish I think it's about picking the best players about

If Paddy or Oisin Kiernan for example had been performing as they do for Ashbourne for example they'd have been given ample opportunities. There seems to be a bias toward players from these clubs more of a chance (Dunboyne and Ashbourne more so than Ratoath). I'm not for a second saying the lads in there don't deserve to be on merit I just wish everyone was given as fair a shake as lads from these clubs do.
