Only thing worse than a bad loser is a bad winner! Well done cavan today. Better team on day David (Meath) - Posts: 566 - 18/02/2018 16:29:56 2077940 Link 2 |
Not jumping on the drop Biggy bandwagon because I firmly believe that he has plenty to offer..He's a victim of his own success and as soon as Meath lose its "drop Biggy".. James McEntee was poor today as well..Maybe play Graham in the full forward line and play to his strengths and tell him to stay there basically forget about tracking back as a half forward does in today's game ! Keep his energy for attacking! Meath seen to be away with the fairies in the first half of games and this must be addressed fast ! Lord jaysus the game was over at half time!! Too many wides pace of meaths play to slow ! Hand passing side to side struggled to penetrate ! They went a little more direct in 2nd half and was a bit better !! I was really talking Meath up this week to doubters and stressed that this team are improving but today the same old Meath away day day blues returned! Not giving up on these lads and Andy because I do think we have a good team here I really do ! Just a very disappointing day all round

Just my opinion Ziggy like your entitled to yours. You can talk about tactics until the cows come home. You may have a plan before the game but something happens when they are out there and it falls apart and there is no plan b. Pretty simple why their work rate doesnt match cavans. They dont have the killer instinct other teams do. Serious confidence and motivation and drive lacking as a whole.

Well it was aimed at one or two on here. They know who they are

I'd agree ziggy. But the main question about today is about effort and work rate, and who is responsible for having the team prepared to deliver the required work rate and intensity. And that's management job, so today will have to be a mark against them on that front. I can see the progress they are making, and agree with what they are doing, but today was a dip for them. Lads I dont think the hunger is there. I may get shot down for saying that but it's just all too obvious from today's showing. It was all over at the 20 minute mark. Not enough lads mentally prepared for challenge today and yes the tactics were wrong. Obviously set up for a sloppy surface underfoot however why couldn't our big players stand up and take control? I've never known a Meathman to shirk a challenge from any border rival no matter what the significance of the game. AndyMc gave nothing away in post match interview either. We will struggle against Tipp especially in full and right corner back positions. Quinlivan is a real handful and a seasoned campaigner. Meath one dimensional and all too predictable. bert09 (Meath) - Posts: 1668 - 18/02/2018 17:06:59 2077965 Link 1 |
Apart from O Sullivan who gave his best, players looked half asleep at times ,or at least lacking in commitment which is hard to understand, Very hard also to understand why the slow indirect build up continued beyond the first 10 mins. No doubt the usual rubbish about Cavan too defensive will be thrashed around....Again poor us we are the victims etc. No excuses. Looking overall at the last few matches against at best mediocre opposition we have really not made any real improvement in the last few years sorry to say. Lets call a spade a spade we are nowhere near Div 1 anyway.

Cavan are now top of the league and righty so..they played well today ! Plus Cavan fans are not running away with wild ideas of promotion after the Meath game..their a cute lot up their in Cavan playing the poor mouth ! Here in Meath we have one or two lads talking about promotion after a win and a draw ! And if you try to be cute like the Cavan lads on here and play down our chances you are called negative :/ WhyTheLongFace (Meath) - Posts: 829 - 18/02/2018 17:19:21 2077968 Link 14 |
Was that a meath or cavan supporter? I think Cillian O'Sullivan made a bad foul and then the bottle was thrown on, not really sure why.

Ahh Eamonn me old friend, tough one today. Just nothing seemed to go right, I still think we can and hopefully will get promoted, but we still haven't a tactical way to break down blanket defence, anyways off to thurles

Jasus ziggy. I thought biggy was alright today, chipped in with a couple of points and was back tackling loads, by no means a great game but not a awful one either

Trounced by an average Cavan team. Not much room for error now if we're seriously thinking about promotion. Criminal to be consistently that flat in the first half of every games. Andy and his team need to sort that out, fast. pauk123 (USA) - Posts: 189 - 18/02/2018 17:43:29 2077977 Link 2 |

Royaldunner - "Look we will win as we much improved since we last played Cavan, plus last time we did not have Andy. I'll never forget that day a 14 point turnaround, I don't think that prior to that game we had very many of those, we effectively promoted Cavan. Anyway those days are gone and thankfully we will not see them anytime in the future , we have better players than Cavan and certainly have a better sideline" Royalio11 (Meath) - Posts: 750 - 18/02/2018 18:22:47 2078001 Link 2 |
