Replying To Loyalroyal17:  "Genuinely think you are making sense on that. You have him down to a tee and this is exactly what we need to do with him. We all know too well what is able to do if he is let. lets hope he can be given the chance to showcase his abilities, we need him positioned right Sunday if we are to get anything out of him. Must be very frustrating for him all the same. Lads are writing him off the team which is not fair. Hes not a defender by any means, give him the ball and let him run with it & get the scores...what he does best. Any luck he will have those hands all over a ball and not on the hips Sunday!"
Unless some reason we don't know about, i can see the team that finished against Roscommon starting against Clare. Tobin and Wallace have earned a starting place as a result of their impact. Lenihan would be the only exception if fit.
Its really all about options in trying to replace players who are not delivering for one reason or another. its a 20 man game over 70 mins anyway. You start with what looked like your strongest 15 . Of course those replaced will be motivated to win their place back . That's competition and reward . Andy will be delighted to use that tool no doubt .He needs to try to settle on his best starting team to refine his team plans anyway.

I presume you are just arguing for the sake of it. Regardless of how he performed in one club league match, there are much better reliable free takers currently on the panel. Lenihan, Mckeever, Brennan or Tobin would all be at least as good or better. Probably o'sullivan too. O'rourkes Record at long range frees for meath was mediocre at best.

Replying To anfearbeag:  "It's hard to tell if you can rely on him to do it, because he hasn't been asked to lately. Instead he is being asked to play as an extra half back for 45 minutes, which I don't really think he is suited to doing. Firstly, because I don't think he is a naturally good defender, and secondly because if we do get the ball and break forward, he is having to make 60-70 yard runs up the field, before trying to get back again. I just don't think he is able to do that, which is why you see him standing with the hands on the hips in the middle of the field before the first half is even over. Play him further up the field so he is making 30-40 yard runs instead of 60-70 yards, and keep for the part of the game when we actually intend to attack."
That's a very fair assessment

Nope im not if you have a look back at Paddy's record playing Club...i never understood why he was in goals he is far better playing the field.

Saw him play with Skryne outfield a few times last year - he wasn't bad! If you decided to go a different route - he might be an okay option at full forward!

I don't think Buggy can handle the expectation placed on his shoulders at times. Let's face it, in an average side he has been the one standout player for the last 4 or 5 years. He also courts quite a bit of media coverage also as a result of this. I wonder how he'd fare in the current Dublin set up? They are the ultimate when it comes to the quick lay off and over the shoulder tactics. We may be trying to change the way we play but when you've had a player of his calibre reduced to playing pedestrian football for so long, it's hard to adjust as it is for all players.

On his day the Dublin type of football would have been perfect for him , now that's only a hypothetical answer to a hypothetical question. As I don't have any desire to get into a actual debate about it.
It's hard to teach a old dog new tricks. And the defending for 35 mins and attacking for next 35 is a new one, but if it works then fantastic. We are relying on speed nearly all the time, tbh I think graham is suffering more with the new style of football, he actually is doing pretty damn good at defending, but last week v rossies he had one of those chances we have seen him pop over time after time, got himself a bit of space ran diagonally across field looked up and then for no apparent reason passed the ball, it was well within his range and one we would always say well here's a point anyway, but he passed it, later on he took a shot that was at worse angle and it dropped into gk hands if I remember correctly, but for life of me I don't know why he didn't try the first one.

I think we all have been scratching our heads with Graham the past few weeks. He knows himself he hasnt been on form. Think everyone needs to cut him some slack. I am looking forward to seen what he can do sunday though. Played in the right position he should have a cracker of a game.
