Don't think it would be any harm if Biggy was a sub for a while. Seeing he's not a cert to start every game might kickstart his form. leftandwide (Meath) - Posts: 91 - 29/01/2018 10:56:05 2071817 Link 0 |

Eamon Wallace made a huge difference when he came on head4dblackspot (Meath) - Posts: 447 - 29/01/2018 11:19:44 2071838 Link 0 |
The only problem with giving Biggy another chance against waht is a very poor Clare team is that I can see him tearing Clare apart like last eyar and all of a sudden people think hes a world beater again. He has a serious talent and I actually think he could be used brilliantly off the bench against teams when the games have opened up and he is fresh against a tired team. Colgan Lavin McGill Keoghan Conaln Power S McEntee/Burke Flanagan Menton J McEntee Brennan (Needs a big improvement to keep the jersey past this game) O Sullivan J Wallace McKeever McMahon Then you have Tobin, E Wallace and Biggy to bring on from the bench. This is assuming that Lenihan is definitely out injured. Even if Gallagher is back fit he won't be brought back in straight away he will be used as a sub first to build match fitness etc ratlag (Meath) - Posts: 323 - 29/01/2018 11:42:48 2071852 Link 0 |
Reilly needs to spend a bit of time on the bench. However i do agree i would tell him it is last chance saloon next week for him. Brennan, not a chance should he start next week and Conlon needs to be at 6. Everyone would have taken a point beforehand so now a win on Sunday at home should be straightforward. It is a 20 man game so really if Tobin starts or Wallace is really irrelevant. Would really like to see Rooney getting more time as ideally you could get Rooney, Menton and Flanagan into the team as we are too small. pretender (Meath) - Posts: 358 - 29/01/2018 11:47:39 2071857 Link 0 |
Not really sure where everyones wanting for Power to be dropped from 6 is coming from?! I thought he played well enough and the 2 heavy tackles he put in were last man effort stopping what would have been 1 on 1 situations, very good fouls to give considering the situtaion. Conlon was 6 against Lonford and it didn't work out. Now one bad game doesn't make a bad player and Conlon has serious potential but he played wing back when he came on against Roscommon and did extremely well from there, why not start him there so against Clare? ratlag (Meath) - Posts: 323 - 29/01/2018 12:20:47 2071882 Link 0 |
I still not convenienced about Emmon Wallace. He did well enough when coming on running at them and getting the goal. But the first thing he did was pass it straight to a Roscommon man. Gave the ball another time then blew a Golden chance to seal the game.

Clare shouldn't be as good Roscommon but with the league you never know what you will get. Conlon and Eamon Wallace have to start they both made a huge difference yesterday especially when carrying the ball. Tobin to me is still an impact sub, he has done very little for Simonstown during there two championship seasons. I feel this is a game made for O Reilly to see if he is going to cut it at senior level. This would be my team for the weekend: UsernameInvalid (Meath) - Posts: 126 - 29/01/2018 13:51:38 2071947 Link 0 |
In my view Andy will have some learning points from Yesterday........What do we change from 1st half performance ? Lavin very promising corner back. McGill v good prospect. Mickey A warrior.. we need more like him. Pace ? he cant go on forever options for 4 ? Shane ...i will keep at him for a while longer. Power .. i will talk to him about not passing the book and take responsibility yourself. another go anyway Conlon lets see more. Flanagan not any options hoping more game tiime will bring him on. Menton ..i need his type. J mc Entee improving.. O sullivan ..ill have a word with him head up and lay off to better placed player stays for now . Reilly.... i have been patient with him. i will have a good chat with him and ask for self analysis etc. Impact sub? not sure .... E Wallace given 12 . Tobin helped yesterday , strenght, left footed frees ...stays for now Brennan.......not yet keep on panel. OReilly dont know.. Lenihan plays if fit. Joey wallace on for now anyway Colgan stays for now Rooney i need him fit. Freetakers needs attention Overall reaction mixed but improving.......I wont be distracted looking at the dubs just yet...we are where we are.

Emmon Walace got plenty of chances last year throughout league and championship. And never made the most of it. I am not sure about him. Passing the ball in to keepers hand yesterday was awful to watch. Do you not feel keoghan was better out around the middle of the field ? He was a rock sense going forward when we where under serious pressure. Lavin seems to doing ok at corner back and Mickey Burke to. I would only pulling back if we where under serious pressure other wise he plays wing back for me.

Well let's be honest about things here, the best half back line in the county would be keoghan, conlon and forde but unfortunately we won't see forde this year so power needs to nail his chance he's been around long enough now. At 20 the defence should be built around conlon going forward

I'm as of yet unconvinced on Conlon at 6 for Meath, as I said he was shocking against Longford!! I haven't seen him at club so I can't comment to much, but the l;ittle I have seen of him with meath wing back suits him much better

At the risk of opening up last weeks debate about the difference between "should win" and "hope to win", I would say that this is a game that meath should win, and absolutely need to win if we want promotion. With no direspect meant to Clare, this is one that you would have down as a home banker. We beat them by 12 points in Ennis last year, and I don't see that they have improved hugely since then. 2/5 home win at the bookies, but I will be taking the 21/20 on meath (-3). anfearbeag (Meath) - Posts: 1134 - 29/01/2018 16:26:47 2072047 Link 12 |
This will be a tough game last year Clare were without Brennan in midfield probably one of the best midfielders in Ireland. Reilly and Cos both had a great game that day but Clare were well under par . they got a point off Cavan on Sat night last and have had some really close games with Kildare in the last few years. We should not underestimate this Clare team. SheridansTry (Meath) - Posts: 168 - 29/01/2018 17:09:24 2072070 Link 1 |
In fairness Cavan were very depleted on Saturday and had 10 debutants in their starting 15. We really should be defeating Clare on home soil and I think we'll win with a bit to spare.

Wouldn't take Clare for granted. This game should be approached the same as we would approach playing any top division 1 team.
