In fairness LMFM had full commentary online, and had this well advertised on social media. You can't really ask for much more since their Sunday sports show doesn't start until 2.00 and throw in was at 12.30.

You wouldn't have wanted to be at it. Took my son down and apart from the steak sandwich in Adare there was nothing good. Maybe I was carried away with promotion and 2 wins to start us off, but truth be told they were 2 wins we should be getting when you look at their other results. Both Kildare & London would struggle in 2B. Westmeath beat us again and if hadn't been for a wee scoring burst at the end and an awful lot of wides the gap would have been huge. At least last year in championship we pored on to them last 15 looking the win. But I never in my wildest dreams thought kerry would do that to us. We completely dominated them last year in Navan & even though they came back at us we showed great nerve ability & Fordey's legs. There was none of that last week. I definitely wasn't a Martin Ennis fan but I'll give him this... His team had character & leaders. At the minute we are completely reliant on a lad (as great as he is at them) hitting frees. As last week showed when he has an off day on his Frees we are in huge trouble. In_da_ditch (UK) - Posts: 165 - 04/03/2018 10:16:39 2081786 Link 0 |
We will have to treat the Carlow game as a barometer of wher we stand. A performance win lose or draw is essential. MillerX (Meath) - Posts: 742 - 04/03/2018 11:51:36 2081790 Link 0 |
Marsh, Kelly, Keena, Togher, Reagan, Walsh, Canneely, O Maolaoid, Weir..... light.... I'd say you need to check them scales

Adam Gannon, James Kelly, Neil Heffernan, Seán Quigley and Kevin Keena (if available) would be all score getters and would not be considered heavyweights. However I must admit that all could not be played together. All I am saying that the top of the ground will suit the Meath forwards better than heavy conditions. Next Sunday compare the size of the Carlow forwards compared to ours. MillerX (Meath) - Posts: 742 - 04/03/2018 22:41:09 2081869 Link 0 |
Im just pointing out that Laois, Antrim, Carlow, Kerry etc will all prefer firm sod too... Look we are where we want to be. Up a division & in higher championship. It was never going to be easy & fair play to Nick & the lads for getting us here, next week will be a great test. The last 2 Christy ring champs going head to head.

I was not a Martin Ennis fan and was happy he did to go for another year but your comment fair play to Nick and the boys for getting us here is total incorrect, Nick and the lads did not get us here, Martin Ennis won promotion in the Championship and the League in the last two season , so get your facts right.

Sorry my good man. I actually meant that. I knew Ennis had got the promotions I meant about Nick bringing it to a new level. The reintroduction of Tougher plus the Kk lads input has brought us On something shocking. Bring on Carlow now. I know the players were saying the had beat Carlow in couple of challenge games last few years so I'm going for 5/6 point win!!!

So you think getting beaten by 16 points by Kerry has brought us on something shocking ???? Meath beat Kerry by six points last year in the championship , do you not remember that ??? I do agree that Nick bringing in the KK lads was good move

I do think overall we are moving in the right direction yes... I would have kept the S&C man from last set up as he seemed to have done a super job but think we are bubbling nicely ahead of this one... Tougher is a huge bonus this year that was badly missed last year

Why are we away back to trim? In_da_ditch (UK) - Posts: 165 - 09/03/2018 19:06:55 2083014 Link 0 |
I don't think it is just the case of 'going back to Trim', as I imagine that ground conditions was a factor in moving the hurling to Trim. As this is the final game in the Division all games that have a bearing on the final positions MUST be player at the same time for obvious reasons. If Kerry beat Westmeath then score difference will come into play provided the game in Trim does not end in a draw. Even if Meath beat Carlow technically score difference will still apply but we would be likely to loose out here due to the bad result in Tralee. If the weather had been good in the weeks up to those games then both would have gone ahead in Navan. MillerX (Meath) - Posts: 742 - 09/03/2018 20:19:50 2083029 Link 0 |
Don't think management decided this. County Board call. Remember our footballers went to Roscommon where a double header was played and the pitch was in a poor state for the 2nd game and our management team were not impressed. Think our hurlers wanted Navan but weather left it as not possible. Don't think to many pitches will hold dbl headers this weekend.

Was Navan not professionally covered during the snow so it is now in mint condition?? So someone is telling lies In_da_ditch (UK) - Posts: 165 - 10/03/2018 17:48:11 2083214 Link 0 |
Praise the lord for Shane McGann... I'm sorry... that was pathetic.... Tougher is no addition you know. What happened to the free flowing attack minded team of last few years. We have brought Kk men in & they are turning us into Tyrone football for god sake... 80% of our scores must be frees!! In_da_ditch (UK) - Posts: 165 - 11/03/2018 18:15:48 2083478 Link 0 |
That was a very tough watch. Carlow were the first to every ball and were more hungry for it. I heard a fantastic compliment for McGann at the game though. We were standing beside Carlow fans and after another great save, one of them said "Jesus just take that keeper off already" B52M (Meath) - Posts: 10 - 12/03/2018 08:00:27 2083779 Link 0 |
Them kilkenny boys in the backroom team might seem like a great idea but they dont seem to be too confident in meaths ability as a hurling team, just go out and hurl, I personally thought meath could have challenged for a 2a final and hurling did seem to have turned a corner in the county again, id say its the first time in 17 or 18 years that there seemed to be a big interest in improving and building .... preddan (Kildare) - Posts: 497 - 12/03/2018 11:57:34 2083883 Link 0 |
