Point left behind big time. Roscommon are a very good team at all and we showed them for that in the second half and then tripped ourselves up with the penalty.
It's a pity because we have at least 5 tougher games than this ahead.

Second game in a row that we threw away a four point lead in injury time. That would have been a vital 2 points. We could have deja vu come the end of the league and rue this draw which we should have won.

Practically an 8 point turn around.

Very unfortunate end to the game as i thought we were home and hosed after Wallys goal.

But as with the Longford game we coughed up 4 points in injury time too.

I will take the draw, take the point and just try block out how we managed to gift Roscommon a draw at the death after being in such a great position!

Shot ourselves in foot. We need to learn to close out games

I'm usually a glass half empty man....ill hold my hands up to that....but roscommom were 2nd in the betting for outright winners of div 2 at 1pm today .....we don't have 5 tougher games ahead.....away to the connaught champions was surely in our top two toughest games of the league no? I'm extremely happy with that point regardless of the finale

Connacht champions thanks in part to a Galway no show last July. They are a long way from the best team in connacht however. Galway and obviously mayo, as they showed last August are well ahead of them.

Who gave away the peno? Not playing the blame game, just curious

Frustrating showed a super attitude tbh. But once you fly ahead like that you should be winning.
Next week will determine whether this result is good or not.
Think it's time Graham Reilly is dropped to the bench. Played much better as a team when he went off.

McKeever, Conlon should start next week and possibly Tobin( though seems to be a super sub)

Once we beat Clare next week

McKeever and Conlon both have to start against Clare next Sunday. They contributed five points between them when they came on and were generally very involved in the action. Reilly and Burke could be under pressure to keep their starting places

Was it not a technical issue that cost the pen?? A hand on the ground. So if that was the case and the lad puts his toe under the ball your on here talking about the renaissance of meath football. It was a good point and can't be called anything others them that

Lenihan and McKeever could be a good two man forward line

I thought Roscommon would win today because they a further down the line in development ,division one experience ,won connacht and a good mixture of underage teams winning on big days!

Now when i think of it we should have beaten Roscommon by 8 or 9 points !

I am actually very happy about the result today because we need to work harder and if we do so god forbid me for saying this and i haven't said this for 20 years...we could very well have a good team on our hands!

So my immediate thoughts after the game are that we threw away what could be a very important point, but 5 points down with about 15 mins left and playing against a strong gale I would have taken a draw!

Thought Menton and Flanagan did well at midfield But really it was our substitutes who seemed to make a real difference.
Conlon came on for Burke and whilst he made plenty of mistakes (including losing the ball in the forward line from which a Roscommon move lead to the penalty),he seemed comfortable at this level and was a big improvement. Eamon Wallace, Sean Tobin and McKeever also made a difference.
Positives for me were our fitness levels and our character to come from behind.

Negatives include not closing out the game and the fact that we looked so less physically imposing than the opposition and this showed in a lot of one and one battles.

As for Graham, it was another day to forget for him and as someone has already mentioned, the team looked much better with him off.

What are you on about?

We let a 4 point lead go in injury. We had possession and lost and thereafter it was a calamitous end resulting in a penalty.

I would take the point all day but still threw away a 4 point lead in injury time.

Excellent post.

Substitutes made a telling impact.

We were still a little hesitant at kicking scores but did take them when it mattered as the game closed out.
