Believe he dropped himself off from what other posters on here were saying. Probably for Michael's own benefit to get a year in with Kilmainham and not have the heavy intercounty season and training. He's been suffering with niggling injuries since 2014 and the training demands are probably not allowing him a full run at recovering from those injuries. brian (Meath) - Posts: 909 - 24/11/2017 08:14:28 2063420 Link 3 |
Will reilly be captain again this year? He really needs to learn to give and go and play a quick ball sometimes he's far too one dimensional in putting the head down and running. Not a natural footballer Imo always thought Bobby o Brien could become a good link player for meath with 2 great feet, has he not progressed? Are there any players in the lower grades worth a shot?

Ok Fair enough!! I do think Bobby is a decent player that should be given another chance in OByrne cup

Look maybe you right. And for Meath I hope you are , as we desperately need another link player. But I just didn't see it when he last played. Maybe a return would be in order. But they'd need to be a lot of improvement to maintain a position.

For some reason my last reply wasn't allowed again. This is getting very frustrating as I didn't use any language, aggression and certainly didn't ask anyone what " they're on" for having an opinion. What are the rules for posting or does the moderator just allow what he agrees with himself??

SS6 You are either misinformed or trying to rock the boat. They had a hard running session on Saturday morning and the match against DCU last night. There was never any training planned for Sunday.

I think Bobby O'Brien would be a great addition to the panel based on talent alone. He's a fantastic player when on form. Unfortunately, the issue that's plagued him is his temper in club games. If he manages to sort that out, then I think he'd be a shoe in. Ratoath Royal (Meath) - Posts: 1198 - 29/11/2017 10:36:18 2063969 Link 11 |
Any footballing person would agree that O'Brien and number of others are better footballers than Reilly in terms of skill, vision and technique. Reilly is a superb athlete and our most powerful runner. If he'd had proper coaching when younger he would have made a fine wing back but he doesn't look up when in possession and has only one technique of shooting (with his instep meaning he can only score from certain angles). I personally wouldn't have him on the Meath panel as winning teams don't accommodate players who don't take the correct options and who take too much out of the ball but that's only my personal view. Well said, any footballing person would agree but then again Rd hasn't much knowledge of football within the county. Personally I'd have him on the panel alright but he needs to work on a lot of things, how often do you see him pick the ball up and play a good quick pass into an inside forward? That should be bread and butter for a good half forward but I can't actually ever recall him doing it! He was our poorest forward against Kildare last year because they have proper defenders who he couldn't just breeze past.

Not at all. It's a juvenile comment , bobby O'Brien unless he has improved immensely is not county. That is a fact.

Ahh cause I don't live in county. I gurrantee I go to more games than you. Furthermore this has nothing to do with graham Reilly. I stated that bobby O'Brien never showed anything at county level to suddenly say he is a must starter. Now give me one example where he has.

I believe Bobby O'Brien is heading away to Oz! Rumour has it he is gone for 3 years!! So whether you think he is good enough or not he won't be available. I think he could have done a job - he probably need sto work on fitness but he can play alright! On top of that he has heart and passion which is a good starting point!!
