I hear the Meath hurlers are back training. Any new faces? Should be a great set up with Management team, any feedback from players on set up? Hopefully a good year for Meath hurling in 2018. Redsalltheway (Meath) - Posts: 112 - 09/11/2017 10:19:50 2061360 Link 0 |
10 big games. 5 in league 5 and championship. Is it mostly the same teams in each. Kerry Laois Westmeath Antrim and Carlow in championship. Who is in league numberedjerseys (USA) - Posts: 347 - 09/11/2017 16:05:13 2061415 Link 0 |
Big question is surely whether the dual players will be welcomed back...

I suppose that depends on the level of committment they're willing to give. I can't imagine the current Hurling management team would be willing to facilitate players that didn't want to commit 100% to the Hurling squad no more than I'd imagine the football management team would facilitate members of thier panel who wouldn't commit 100% to the football squad. I'd rather the Hurling squad consisted of players who were totally focused and committed to Hurling with the county than relying on players who only turned up when there was no football, it's not like we're short of decent Hurlers in Meath. At this level people need to decide which sport they want to pursue and focus fully on that if we're to have any success in either code. Couldnt agree more, it seems near impossible to be able to fully commit to both in the modern game. Can disrupt a panel when so called 'dual' players are coming in a week before an important game.

Good times ahead for hurlers. Lots of quality young hurlers coming through from Minor All Ireland winning team and plenty more hurlers who really should be on panel over last few years but weren't for some reason, hopefully they commit this year. No room for dual players nearly all national football and hurling games will be on same weekend.. Burke Douglas Moran Ferguson all opting for football.. toher will opt for both but probably will fall between 2 stools

Hopefully toher opts for hurling . Just think he is a more complete hurler than footballer where he very left sided

The day of the dual player is gone. New fixture schedule makes it impossible even if players and management were willing. begining (UK) - Posts: 277 - 10/11/2017 11:17:18 2061558 Link 1 |
none of which are any huge loss to starting 15 squad players apart from mayby douglas hopefully managers from either code make players chose which they are going for now save the soap opera we had last year hurlit (Meath) - Posts: 312 - 10/11/2017 11:27:35 2061559 Link 0 |
The footballers arent going anywhere so I think Toher should throw his lot in with the hurlers. RoyalBadger (Meath) - Posts: 571 - 10/11/2017 11:47:50 2061566 Link 0 |
To be honest can't see hurlers going anywhere either other than two relegation battles

The hurlers will survive in the league anyway, one win vs. London, Kildare or Kerry and we'll be safe. CastleBravo (Meath) - Posts: 1391 - 11/11/2017 16:34:50 2061733 Link 10 |

How is it when Someone speaks truth about Hurling there is always a moan about it, Brownepat (Meath) - Posts: 463 - 12/11/2017 18:57:59 2061887 Link 0 |

Realistically it is two relegation battles but I'd be confident they can survive both. Think 2018 is a consolidating year. RoyalBadger (Meath) - Posts: 571 - 13/11/2017 12:48:19 2062060 Link 0 |
Quite frankly, I'd be very disappointed if the hurlers were involved in a relegation battle in the league. Ratoath Royal (Meath) - Posts: 1198 - 13/11/2017 20:53:31 2062158 Link 10 |
Good start to the year today against Antrim. Plenty of positives. Good to see a squad back playing for Meath hurlers. Redsalltheway (Meath) - Posts: 112 - 30/12/2017 19:32:16 2066303 Link 0 |
