I can't imagine the current Hurling management team would be willing to facilitate players that didn't want to commit 100% to the Hurling squad no more than I'd imagine the football management team would facilitate members of thier panel who wouldn't commit 100% to the football squad. I'd rather the Hurling squad consisted of players who were totally focused and committed to Hurling with the county than relying on players who only turned up when there was no football, it's not like we're short of decent Hurlers in Meath. Couldnt agree more, it seems near impossible to be able to fully commit to both in the modern game. Can disrupt a panel when so called 'dual' players are coming in a week before an important game. Good times ahead for hurlers. Lots of quality young hurlers coming through from Minor All Ireland winning team and plenty more hurlers who really should be on panel over last few years but weren't for some reason, hopefully they commit this year. The footballers arent going anywhere so I think Toher should throw his lot in with the hurlers. The county board did well to make sure Meath were included in the T2 competition as they were looking to relegate us over Antrim who had done nothing to deserve a place in it it over Meath. Think its a decent format for teams at Meaths level with the opportunity of a playoff against a T1 team. Remember we lost to Laois and Westmeath last year so it wont be easy. The hurlers will survive in the league anyway, one win vs. London, Kildare or Kerry and we'll be safe. The championship will be an uphill battle though and I can see it being similar to this year. How is it when Someone speaks truth about Hurling there is always a moan about it, All I did was respond to Royal Badger saying "the footballers are going nowhere" something which I did not deny but only stated a similar fact about Hurling that 2 relegation battles are all i can see on the cards. Realistically it is two relegation battles but I'd be confident they can survive both. Think 2018 is a consolidating year. Happier to be in 2A and this T2 group than be in 2B and Christy Ring. Quite frankly, I'd be very disappointed if the hurlers were involved in a relegation battle in the league. We waltzed through 2B. The closest any team got to us was Roscommon after we had already topped the group. Beat Wicklow in the final by 15 points. Wicklow then beat both London and Kildare in the Christy Ring cup. I'd expect to beat those two teams. The other three teams are definitely beatable in my view.
