It is not exactly what you would call user friendly.
There's no proper menu, you don't know if a game is live or not. Today's Tuesday and if you click into last Sunday's IFC semi-final between Curraha and Oldcastle it gives a fixture, not even the full time result. On iphone if you hit the screen, half the time the iphone menu box appears and the app is unresponsive.
It's a bit of a pig in a sack but at least it can only improve.

Downloaded the app but deleted it again when it was looking for registration details. Can't see any reason why it would need an email address or otherwise.

I don't know why they launched an app, surely if they want to stream games they should be via a player which is accessible on mobile or laptop. Obviously the idea is to charge a couple or euro to watch. Laois TV and Mayo TV have sites for games and it works well, the app route does not make sense.
The camera work is like someone filming the game on a phone.

I'm loathe to knock new initiatives, but I can't disagree with a lot of the above. All you really want to see are fixtures and scores first and foremost. The lack of a proper menu is a real problem and I end up just closing it in frustration.

I agree that the app is not the way to go for live streaming. Forget it. It would be great if we could have a tv station like Armagh GAA TV where they provide online live streaming and audio commentary of local and inter county games worldwide.

the new App is a joke. Like seriously, take it down and if it is not user friendly and what people expect dont launch it. No live updates, unreal. I would hate to see how much was spend on this.

I honestly don't think it's anywhere close to being as bad as some people are saying. Needs improvement absolutely but I think it's more a case of people loving to complain. I think it's a great idea and will only get better.

look at proper apps first, it is dire, you expect to get up to date info from an app, if not why have it then

I wouldn't call it a joke but to say it is not as bad as people are saying is wrong, or that 'people like to complain' is wide of the mark. It's that 'brush stuff under the carpet' attitude that saw us end up with the floodlight fiasco or the portacabins out the back at Pairc Tailteann.
People really want this service to work but it is sub-standard at the moment.
They are charging €5 to watch both Sunday's matches and are asking people to pay early to ensure they can see the games. I wouldn't be that confident about paying money for it yet.
I'll go the games anyway and will pay my €15 in at the gate.

So I'm sure everyone who thinks it's a joke has also sent feedback on what can be improved to the developer?

Things escalated very quickly here.
Thinking about it the main problem is that the expectations and promises were too high. I heard Martin O'Halloran on a podcast say how this would have fixtures, news and results. That is a news app but this is just an app for showing games live. It should have been called the Meath GAA TV app. A general Meath app it is not.
I have already said an app is not how this should be done but if you are trying to do that then you have to explain what is happening.
There should be a menu but if there is not the top story should be titled - Upcoming live games. There should be a How to View explanation or FAQ. That is basic starter stuff.
The idea is good; the willingness to do it is good; the actual viewing experience is so so (camera is too low); it is just the method of delivery that is letting it down.

Hi folks,
We are doing our best to produce a great app for Meath GAA. All feedback above will be taken on board. We will now focus on keeping fixtures and results as up-to-date as possible and notifying people when they are.
Today, we tried to broadcast from a better position in PT rather than facing the pillars under the stand, but unfortunately this resulted in big issues with the strength of the internet and we could barely broadcast any of the first game.
If anyone would like to give feedback directly, please do so to [email protected]. Happy to listen to how we can improve and make this a great app.

There were issues for sure.. But IMO thats forgivable. I would say I missed about 5-10 mins of the Senior Semi due to dropped connections etc, Apart from that it worked well enough. Im sure the service will only get better with practice.

You have to respect the guys behind the app posting here. They are obviously willing to listen and made some changes to the app which were better if still not ideal.
I didn't watch the game on the app but I heard from a couple of people who did that the coverage kept dropping Sunday during both games. Charging people €5 and then having the service cut out again and again is not good enough. People won't come back.

The problem is, I'm told the wifi signal in PT isn't great at the best of times even when the press box is empty or there are only a few people there. So if you have a busy press box with 10 or 15 lads on wifi (far more on county final day) then I don't see how it will be able to support a streaming service if there are concerns about signal strength last Sunday. As was mentioned above, people won't pay for a service that doesn't work 100% of the time.

We have received a couple of bits of feedback from people about the app - thank you to those who have got in touch. Please do keep it coming.
In response to the feedback, I hope you have all received the notifications when new fixtures have been released which we are keeping up to date as possible. I hope these updates have been useful.
We are also going to make it clearer on the process to watch games.

In terms of the connection, we are working on a solution to ensure a better connection in PT with a closed-off network. It worked fine from the stand for the IHC replay but from the other side of the field it didn't. We (Sportego) are not experts in networks etc. so I hope there would be some understanding that there will be teething problems.
We realise last weekend wasn't good enough and we offered a full refund to anyone who paid for the games, and issued many as a result.

In terms of how we can make the app better - most of our time is taken up with organisation of the app/production on matchday and we don't have the time to write match reports / preview etc. Would people be willing to help out in this regard? The more content available on the app the better it will be for all.

The thing I don't get is that this is being run by a private company, it's not like it is volunteers from the county board. So someone is looking to make money out of it.
Statements like 'we are not experts at networks' or 'we are busy doing other things' - that's mad stuff to put out in the public arena at the same time you are looking to charge customers for a service.

Spoke with a person who paid €5 for live coverage yesterday and said it was a terrible service with lots of problems. How did anyone else get on?
