It actually started in may this year.mayo and Dublin need 5 dates to play their championship Meath need 9. 45 games to reduce 18 teams to 9. Brownepat (Meath) - Posts: 463 - 11/10/2017 16:51:14 2054729 Link 0 |
45 games to get 18 teams down to 9. When it's put like that isn't it beyond laughable. St Colmcilles this year lost 4 and drew 1 and hadn't even to play in relegation. Na Fianna won 1 game and into knockout. Some people didn't want the back door in the all ireland and in Meath you can have 3 back doors. Radical overhaul required Analyst (Meath) - Posts: 1338 - 11/10/2017 17:07:13 2054736 Link 14 |
Yeah put like that it sounds even worse..

We had a radical overhaul, and the clubs organised to have it undone. CastleBravo (Meath) - Posts: 1391 - 11/10/2017 19:13:02 2054762 Link 11 |
The 'radical overhaul' proposed a new system where 24 games would reduce 16 teams to 12. People complaining about Cilles not winning a game and avoiding relegation. With the proposed system a team could have lost 2 games, drawn 1 and made it through. longhighball (Meath) - Posts: 23 - 11/10/2017 20:00:42 2054773 Link 0 |
Serious win for simonstown yesterday should have won by more. Surprised by the lack of talk for our 2 championship semi finals this weekend is there a shortage of interest in club football in meath? Northsidegaels (Meath) - Posts: 227 - 15/10/2017 12:35:54 2055347 Link 0 |
It was a good game and interesting contest with the best team winning, however the final score did not reflect the overall match as it was a lot closer. Tones missing a 14m free when there was 2 points in it with less than 10mins left and a strange decision -what looked like a clear penalty ending up as a throw up in first half. Simonstown are rightfully favourites, however whoever wins today will also have a say.

Thought Simonstown should have won by more. They missed 3 clear goal scoring chances. I thought the referee brought Tones into the game with a lot of soft free in the second half. I didn't think it was a penalty in the first half as there was minimal contact and the replays confirmed same. I was expecting more from the Tones forwards Maestro (Meath) - Posts: 473 - 15/10/2017 15:44:39 2055367 Link 0 |
Thought tones were the better side for the first 20 minutes alright but simonstown got on top then and could have had another 3 or 4 goals. The other match wasn't great can't see Kells winning a keegan anytime soon they just haven't enough for the latter stages summerhill had far more up front and will he hard bet, should be a good final!

Yeah there is very little chat on the 2 big semi-finals. Is it down to the fact that the people who were doing most of the talking club's are now out?

Missed Saturdays match, didnt even realise it was on Eir. But went to game on Sunday. Summerhill were very impressive. The two Daltons inside caused no end of trouble for the Kells backline which normally break even. Summerhill should have been out of sight at half time but for some awful shooting. The only pulled away in the last few minutes. juicy (Meath) - Posts: 384 - 17/10/2017 14:38:28 2055766 Link 0 |

Harnan won't be available for the panel next year. Nor unfortunately will quite a considerable number of our other better players. Can't say I blame them to be honest.

Get over yourself royaldunne. Your first thought is not believe it cause you think no one hears these things before You even tho you have no connection to any of the players and left the county long ago, He said it himself and you'll see come league time. Same as the other lads thinking not going back....mainly cause of Mc Entee, and before you start crying...yes some of the players told me that themselves
