Ronan Jones gone to america is it? Will Harry Rooney be back from Australia. Just when we looked to be getting sorted with midfielders at county level we're losing them. brian (Meath) - Posts: 909 - 12/09/2017 13:28:22 2045247 Link 3 |
Simonstown are looking good but dunboyne will be a test lucky to beat them last year . Think winners play ratoath Not convinced with them yet but they can topple tones. On other side Most will be looking over there shoulders at omahonys they will trouble summerhill who will be effected by a longer wait with kiltalehurling Kells are sitting pretty if they get over moynalvey they can make final Brownepat (Meath) - Posts: 463 - 13/09/2017 10:20:28 2045552 Link 0 |
To be honest I fancy Moynalvey on that side of the draw. I think Kells will be their biggest test as they always seem to do well, despite in my opinion not having the most talented of individuals. They are a very solid championship team and I reckon the winner of that game will make the final. On the other side I think Ratoath have what it takes to go all the way this year BUT if they get over the tones, a game against Simonstown or Dunboyne will literally come down to who performs on the day as in my opinion they are the 3 best teams in this years Championship. If the rumors are true about Jones being flown home and also Nash being allowed to play once his AFL season is over then that should be a cracking game of ball, but I think Dunboyne will reverse last years result and set up a rematch with Ratoath. I'm going to go with a Ratoath v Moynalvey final with Ratoath to win it outright. ratlag (Meath) - Posts: 323 - 13/09/2017 10:51:22 2045569 Link 0 |
Will Nash be allowed to play? Considering he already has a Keegan and an injury may harm his AFL progress TakeYourPoints6 (Meath) - Posts: 223 - 13/09/2017 12:19:58 2045603 Link 0 |
ratlag (Meath) -wish full thinking and nothing wrong with that. Kells have a decent side because the have some players as good as any in the championship-they may not be on a county team but that says little. browncows (Meath) - Posts: 2189 - 13/09/2017 12:58:17 2045610 Link 12 |
I don't know to be honest, it may just be pub talk but that's what I heard anyway. That and Jones coming back is all just hearsay until we see them on the pitch and are as useful as an injured player until then. As I said before, best 15 players a club has are the ones available on match day.

What I meant by that was they have no big names that would be well known around the county apart from say Mattimoe. The likes of Beano and one or two others are getting a bit older and will struggle with the pace of Moynalvey. It wasn't a dig at Kells, as I said I think they are a very good team, solid in every area of the pitch and a tough task for anyone to beat. I just think Moynalvey will have a bit to much with the two O Sullivans, Harnan, Forde etc will be a bit toquick and turn them over. After that Moynalvey have beaten O' Mahoneys (who I expect to beat Na Fianna with ease) already and will be a match for Summerhill. Like I said, just an opinion on how I see things going based on what I've seen from all the teams involved so far.

I've seen 3 matches over week end and also the one on Sunday which was played in very difficult conditions. I must say that I would find it difficult to hazard a guess on who will win the championship. I think the team who wins will be the one who can improve the most from now on and how teams have been performing up to present may count for little. An aspect of football which is a concern is the number of clubs with a number of injuries- or has this anything to do with the type of training that is now carried out. browncows (Meath) - Posts: 2189 - 13/09/2017 16:03:47 2045687 Link 12 |
don't forget about mcloughlin as good as any inside forward so far in this campaign. just quickly on the midfield thing for meath, ethan devine is playing well for na fianna this year and is only 20(i think) ziggy320001 (Meath) - Posts: 2432 - 13/09/2017 16:32:29 2045696 Link 1 |

Is Lenehan back for Dunboyne? Ratoath Royal (Meath) - Posts: 1198 - 21/09/2017 11:15:17 2048934 Link 12 |
Tones are a serious bet now. Ratoath wont know what hit them Friday night. pretender (Meath) - Posts: 358 - 21/09/2017 12:50:04 2048972 Link 0 |
I'd be lumping on simonstown at them odds if Lenihan is still out. Without him and Jones dunboyne are missing probably their two best players

While i agree tones are a serious price at 5/2, i would not call the result. As i said already Ratoath are unproven but so are Tones who like Ratoath beat 2 poor sides and their last round win is similar to Ratoath against a side who had nothing to play for. Ratoath will get a big test tomorrow and it will interesting to see how they respond

think Mahoneys will be very close as they look like they are beginning to peak . Could be between them and Simonstown

Completely agree you couldn't rule out anyone apart from maybe Na fianna although think the winner will come from the tones, simonstown, dunboyne and ratoath side of the draw, it will be seriously tough to come through that. Summerhill, Kells and moynalvey all look good too though!

My beloved Tones are looking good. An almost perfect squad coming together with serious firepower up front. I think O' Mahone'y won't go far

Wolfe Tones by a point against Ratoath, sounded like end to end stuff, dissapointed by well done Tones they could be hard bet after a win like that Richieq (Meath) - Posts: 3590 - 22/09/2017 21:57:16 2049449 Link 8 |
Tones was the first big team you played this year. The Dunboyne game meant nothing.
