Delighted for rataoth. Someone needs to explain to them that championships aren't won by winning dead rubber games in the group stages

You can put it down to championship football all you want but it highlights a selection problem with the county panel, apart from conor McGill I don't think one ratoath player is up to county standard, maybe Bobby O'Brien but none of the rest

That's your opinion and that's fine I don't particularly agree but there we are, but where are all these other great footballers in the county that should be there instead?? Why is it that the powerhouses like O' Mahony's, Summerhill, Senchelstown etc etc are not producing big county players. There is a love here of knocking Ratoath players on the Meath panel, these players were picked based on what the current management and the previous management saw them do, they didn't bully their way into the squad. More prudent would be to look at why the supposed standard bearing clubs haven't got players who appear better than those from Ratoath, God knows plenty of players have been tried. I know there are a few supporters from Ratoath who do themselves, or the club, no favours at matches with their howling and this may lead to the club being looked at unfavourably but but these players work hard and have progressed very well in two years, they deserve better than being subjected to some of the tripe I see littered about here at times regarding their ability to be county players

I actually agree with most of what you say. I think though maybe the point being made is that some of them don't look to be county standard but those saying this don't realise that our county standard is now is a long way down from what It was even 8/9 years ago. It has been said that Kilmacud beat Ratoath by 20 plus points recently. Kilmacud are down county players and even at that are just about top 6 in dublin. Bottom line is our club standard has dropped pro rata with our county standard. If Ratoath learn from last night they will be there or there abouts in next few years

He made 2 errors for the hour. Should have given O Brien a red for striking and he gave Tones 1 free they shouldn't have got when tones player slipped. Those aside he had a perfect match, where did you think he was poor ??

Numerous poor decisions as a neutral looking on but particularly at the end when he played advantage for ratoath in a scoring position instead of giving the free, ball played to the far wing (no advantage) possesion lost and tones went down to get the winning free.

That makes sense!! Begs the question why they were both fixed for the same night in the first place!

Usually because the dates for matches are decided before it is known who will be involved in the final. Then when the finallists are known, there may need to be a change to avoid clashes.

So don/ash and ratoath control the fixtures committee? And they both persuaded the fixtures committee to fix the two matches for the same night, knowing that one of them would have to be switched anyway? And ratoath did this despite not being involved in either match?
Yeah - that makes sense alright.
