Thanks for that. So by the looks of it, the Junior B knockout stages are: Preliminary QF: Na Fianna v Nobber Quarter Finals: Kilbride v Na Fianna/Nobber Gaeil Colmcille v Boardsmill St. Patrick's v Slane Trim v St. Colmcille's Hoping that Kilbride can go all the way. They've put a hell of a lot of work into underage over the last number of years. Ratoath Royal (Meath) - Posts: 1198 - 15/08/2017 10:23:35 2033525 Link 14 |
Great year for Meath hill in championship. First time they have got out of the group stages in a while and this after losing their county player from Down Analyst (Meath) - Posts: 1338 - 15/08/2017 21:52:05 2033911 Link 13 |
Well a great year so far, but I don't think they have a good record in the knockout stages, and Dunsany or Summerhill (likely Dunsany) will be a tough test. A Meath Hill vs Dunsany Q final would be great to watch..the 2 outright favourites in my opinion. Still a lot of teams capable of winning though..Carnaross, Drumconrath, Dunboyne, Tones..all strong teams at this grade trueblue1995 (Meath) - Posts: 27 - 16/08/2017 00:14:54 2033973 Link 0 |
This is incorrect. Quarters are like this: Kilbride V Na Finanna / Nobber Gaeil Colmcille V St Colmcilles St Pats V Boardsmill Slane V Trim 1v4 & 2v3 in Semi Finals Royal_Gunner (Meath) - Posts: 534 - 16/08/2017 09:35:41 2034023 Link 0 |
Fair play to Clonard to get last spot. Who would have taught they beat clan Na Gael and Cortown what a difference a year makes numberedjerseys (USA) - Posts: 347 - 29/08/2017 22:13:32 2040434 Link 0 |
Good win for Clonard tonight. Stuttered a bit through the year but things looking up. New manager, new grounds and plenty of youth coming through. Well done lads keep her lit! ClonardGael (Meath) - Posts: 75 - 29/08/2017 23:01:37 2040473 Link 0 |
Stuttered ..... don't know about that played most league matches without Flanagan. Dowdall only back in country since may and lost their regular full back to inter county transfer. I say they did quiet well so far.beating Moynalty clan and Cortown had Drumconrath bet but slipped up ok got hammered by meath hill but missing a lot that night How Flanagan do last night numberedjerseys (USA) - Posts: 347 - 30/08/2017 09:06:57 2040586 Link 0 |
Flanagan didn't play, was on holidays. Makes the victory even more impressive.

After all the fuss made by the first teams in Junior to have second sttings in a seperate group, which guaranteed that at least 2 (if not 3 as is now the case) would be in Quarters, it now looks likely that 3 second strings could be in semi finals as i would expect Dunboyne, tones and Summerhill to all win Quarter finals. Did I hear correctly that Simonstown are basically playing their Junior A team in the Junior C championship? If Simonstown were to win Junior C and get "relegated" from Junior A (which looks as if it'll be the case), how will promotion/relegation between Junior A and Junior B work? What are the 4 quarters. I see Moylagh vs Tones and Drumcondrath vs Carnaross on the website, what are the other two ? LeitrimRoyal99 (Meath) - Posts: 833 - 31/08/2017 11:59:51 2041097 Link 13 |
Analyst , Your missing the point. Junior clubs don't care if a senior second team wins the championship, that's not the problem. The problem has been second string teams being extremely strong in the first round and becoming weaker as the championship progressed, giving a major advantage to teams who played them in the latter rounds. If a second string wins it then they deserve to win it. weekendwarrior (Meath) - Posts: 27 - 31/08/2017 12:00:25 2041099 Link 0 |
Well, 2 or 3 second teams were always going to ge to the quarters. This doesn't prove anything that second teams are better this year. Don't forget that there was a big gap in Senior matches this year - Dunboyne juniors had 4 c'ship matches between their senior team's matches. They might have had a choice of some senior players. Also, Meath Hill and Moylagh could very easily beat Summerhill and Tones. I would even put both of them as favorites and would expect both of them to win. meathgaa91 (Meath) - Posts: 47 - 31/08/2017 12:50:24 2041119 Link 0 |

Be interesting so. I go for 3 second strings to win, this by the way would not be a good sign for football as both Summerhill and Tones are rural clubs , Dunboyne are different in that their player base covers a huge population covering 2 counties

I have a funny feeling a 2nd team will win Junior A. I dont think any 1st team will complain too much about that as what they wanted was a level playing field in Group games and if a 2nd team is good enough well fair play to them. numberedjerseys (USA) - Posts: 347 - 09/09/2017 11:51:19 2044346 Link 0 |
