Post last nights Re-Org, Groups A&B have the same six teams and Group C now has eight team with Simonstown and O'Mahonys back in (all 2nd teams). Three teams to qualify from each group with one pre-lim quarter final to reduce to eight teams. Previously the three teams from Group A got thru and the third placed teams in B&C played in the pre-lim quarter final. With eight team now in Group C, does that mean after playing seven games, the 3rd placed team in Group C plays a pre-lim quarter final? I would have thought the way to do it was Group C should now have the three teams that qualify into quarter finals and the pre-lim is between A&B..... 3rd Place team in groups B & C still play in Prelim QF Only change was the addition of NOM and Simonstown to Group C. The proposal was that they would play each other in R1 and leave everything as it was but one of them complained and there was a redrawing of the pairings for group C. Pointless really as they both have to face each other at some stage but Group C was redrawn anyway. Royal_Gunner (Meath) - Posts: 534 - 09/05/2017 12:19:10 1985442 Link 1 |
Thanks for clarifying, this means that if the 3rd placed team from Group C go on to win the Junior A championship, they will have played 11 matches (excl. any replays) Count (Meath) - Posts: 92 - 09/05/2017 14:08:14 1985474 Link 0 |

Top 3 teams in Group A into QF. Top 2 teams in Group B & C into QF. 3rd place team in B & C play off for QF spot. Royal_Gunner (Meath) - Posts: 534 - 29/06/2017 08:47:00 2007252 Link 1 |

Dark day for Navan o Mahoneys yesterday. Something seriously wrong if that is genuinely their next best after players who played first round of senior. Again a disgrace to be charging €10 to see 2 second strings play Analyst (Meath) - Posts: 1338 - 22/07/2017 13:22:28 2020881 Link 13 |

While Meath Hill have only won one game in the league, I think the experience of being the only junior team regularly playing against intermediate and senior teams will stand to them. Ratoath Royal (Meath) - Posts: 1198 - 26/07/2017 16:11:11 2023985 Link 13 |
All shadow boxing at this stage. The only aim is to get to the quarter finals, and then anything can happen. anfearbeag (Meath) - Posts: 1134 - 26/07/2017 19:58:04 2024104 Link 13 |

I think Simonstown are only worried about winning the Keegan cup. I dont think they will mind playing Junior B next year after getting relegated fairly. Maestro (Meath) - Posts: 473 - 12/08/2017 21:20:44 2032646 Link 0 |

Maybe this has been talked about earlier in the thread, but looking at the document on the county board website (here) only 2 teams come out of Group C. So there are no preliminaries this year in the Junior A. "Quarter Final draw. A1 v C2, B1 v A3, C1 v B2, A2 v B3 Semi Final 1 v 4 and 2 v 3 " I wonder is this definitely the case? hurlingroyals (Meath) - Posts: 45 - 14/08/2017 09:58:51 2033079 Link 0 |
How does the Junior B knockout stages work? Same as Junior A? Ratoath Royal (Meath) - Posts: 1198 - 14/08/2017 10:48:12 2033117 Link 13 |
Preliminary quarter final B3 v C3. (D) Quarter Finals A1 v D, B1 v A3, C1 v A2, B2 v C2. Semi Finals 1 v 4 and 2 v 3. hurlingroyals (Meath) - Posts: 45 - 14/08/2017 11:09:17 2033130 Link 1 |
I'd imagine that's been scrapped and the document just wasn't updated. It still refers to the Junior championship having 18 teams, despite the fact it now has 20. Plus the fixture planner produced a month ago still has a preliminary round for the JFC. Is it not a bit unfair that they intend on giving fewer QF spots to the group with 2nd teams? What's the basis for that? CastleBravo (Meath) - Posts: 1391 - 14/08/2017 18:42:36 2033402 Link 13 |
