Dickie was a native of Gibbstown before he moved to the Quarry Rd in Ardbraccan, he played his football with Gibbstown. Dickie never missed any matches in Sean Newman Park or Coogan Park Martry and his two son's Michael and Tommy both played with Bohermeen and then St Ultans GFC. He was a proud man in 2000 watching Tommy winning a Junior Championship with St Ultans.
