Replying To theDagger1986:  "The draw has been cruel to them alright, an unfair system. Was impressed with them last night against Castlerahan they played nice football, bit of experience came through for Castlerahan in the end.
Cavan Gaels done what they had to do Friday, they don't need to be setting the thing alight just yet.
Mullahoran were shocking today, Gowna looked poor also"

How can an open draw be unfair?

Terrific wins for Killygarry and Crosserlough at the weekend. Two good young teams with plenty more underage talent to be brought through. Hopefully they can keep their group of lads together over the next few years and develop into strong senior clubs. The other Division 2 team Lavey got a point against Cootehill so all in all a great start for the lower division sides.
Mullahoran look in dire straits. Very poor effort and look completely out of their depth at this level. They need to pick themselves up for the match against Cootehill, show some fight and try get some confidence going forward. The draw mightn't get any kinder. Another bad result here and a bad draw afterwards could really set their players back. Conceding Championship games is not an option either!
Some mouth watering ties next weekend. Plenty of local battles with plenty of history. An extra referee might be needed to patrol the stands!!!! :0

What do you think of it Sean?

You know I will give my honest opinion after this weekend of watching senior football in Breifni should Arva believe in them self's and play like they did this weekend and stop listening to what certain people talk about statistics so much possession so many turn overs ect I would not be a bit surprised if the gaels will be worried about this draw. I have to be honest again I could only pick around five potential candidates for the senior set up 3 of those were with Arva. Seanie had it easy as Lackens corner back just had no idea how to mark him I feel Arva will do their home work here. It's about believe off course. The gaels team has not changed much from last year, most of the same names appeared on the team sheet. It should be a good mach just hope Arva don't think about the Gaels past and just think of their own ability. It's a match I would be very happy to pay ten euro to watch."
The gaels will know Arva are no bad team just coming up short against Castlerahan . They won in 1st gear against Lacken . Your football Knowledge wouldnt be great Sean.
For a Tipperary man living in Cavan Town you seem to have an against the town teams which I find strange. In other news we should have had Lavey beaten by halftime but im sure you will disagree anyway Sean.

I'd tend to agree. I'm a fan of the format to be honest. You get 4 chances in the draw, same as everyone else. If you're depending on the draw to be kind then maybe you're out of your league to begin with.

Intermediate championship draw very interesting with 6 losers drawn to play each other and 6 winners drawn to play each other. In other game ballyhaise play butlersbridge. Could be a number of teams with 2 points after 2 games. Great start to championship this weekend in all grades.

I think it's a good format.,the only thing is if teams lose 2 games will they lose interest then?
But it's the best format in years

I think the open draw is great idea. Keeps teams & supporters enthused as no guarantee of who they could draw in any of the future rounds. Cuchullains could/should have got something from the ramor game & arva leading Castlerahan with 5 to go. Wasn't impressed with either ramor or Castlerahan but it's early days yet. Didn't get to Gaels game but heard they were in control. Kingscourt had no competition. First big test this weekend ramor - kingscourt !!

Replying To ParkTheBus:  "Senior championship a 3 horse race this year...... Gaels, Kingscourt, Ramor in that order. Is it true Mullahoran threw up the points v the Gaels at the weekend? Hard to believe they are going so poorly, could go Intermediate if league form continues. Hopefully all games are competitive and the football is good."
I think you got over 50% of the results correct. Your target should be over 75%

Mention of four draws. I thought it was three games and then knockout. Is it four?

Overheard someone saying on Friday night the Sean Johnston was going for a 10th Senior medal this year?
Don't know how true that is but if so surely it's a record within the county.
Know Crosserloughbwon lots back in the day but has any player got 10?

Pretty sure it's four. Anyone know if it's all neutral grounds or are there home and away ties as well?

The format definitely adds a bit of excitement. If I had a gripe with it I would say that I don't agree with the relegation playoffs. Bottom 2 should go automatically and playoff between 11th and 12th. 9th and 10th should be automatically safe.

Because I live in Cavan Town does not mean I should support any team from it thats for sure. As for being a Tipperary man well now you are really being funny ha ha.

Do you think your game gave a good performance to be honest if I were a Gaels man I would be worried about their performance. Yes Lavey were very poor no question about that even their free taker could not score but you will have day's like that. Should you go on to win the championship I feel it's as far as you will go once again??

I think there is more in our cootehill lads for sure. Just a bit of confidence needed again. A good draw against mullahoran is just what we need.
I think when the Gaels are winning against lacken( who some people seem to think are contenders even if they have not got past a quarter final in 20 odd years) playing a game in first gear then there is sure to better performances in those guys. Also Lacken played a very defencive game .

Who is your tip for the championship?

I have said this many times before anyone could bring the Gaels to a championship and win and at the start of the year I said The Gaels would win it again but sadly do nothing up north.

I have only seen 6 senior games and of the six one would have to say if they are honest that KIngscourt played well as a unit but against what a team that are really sad to say finished it's a shame really for you would expect a good game from them. Arva may not be contenders this year but if they stick together they have some very tidy players to build around. From all the talk about the Gaels being special this year well if what they played Friday night I would not want to watch more of it but I expect Arva will draw it out of them if they have what people are saying now they have the chosen one leading them.

It's the first week of the championship and probably another 12 weeks to go so no team are going to be flying at this early stage or winning by 20 points either.
What teams and supporters will be looking for in the next 3 games is improvement building up for peaking from the quarters onwards.
There 2/3 teams in with a serious chance and depending on the draw, bit of luck on the day etc there wouldn't be much between them.
I'm talking about the Gaels, Ramor and possibly Kingscourt who got absolutely no test this weekend against Mullahoran.
Personally I'd back the Gaels simply because as a club they seem more focused than on previous years . and every players be it subs or panel members seem really up for it.

Gaels look strong that was one of the games i made this weekend and they really cruised against lacken who are contenders????? Also made Ramor game who didnt look there best but had the look of a derby but ramor with brian o connell, simon cadden, mark magee and jack doyle?? Still think its kingscourts championship.
