I was straight across from it. It was well outside the 14. No penalty.

It may have been outside the box but it was surely a black card offense and how he did not give one is beggars belief. Did he actually card him at all? Joebe (Cavan) - Posts: 72 - 27/03/2017 16:59:37 1971919 Link 0 |

Morale is high in Cavan and I wish them great success.I remember that morale was high in my own county of Roscommon this time last year...and look what happened! worple (Roscommon) - Posts: 271 - 27/03/2017 17:53:07 1971948 Link 0 |
If Donegal get to the U21 Final there is no way any of their players will be risked in the match vMayo... Donegal won't care if they miss out on a League Final so long as their Div 1 status is secure ... When Tyrone somehow failed to beat Mayo our goose was cooked I fear... We can only go to Roscommon and win ( no easy task ) and see how things pan out... I said at the time that the dropped point v Monaghan could come back to haunt us and so it may prove yet... still 2 wins and 2 draws would be a good return from our Div 1 campaign even if we do go down...at least we brought it to the last day which is exciting.. He certainly favoured Kerry. 3 of their first 5 points were from very questionable frees. And 1 in the 2nd half. I'm not sure why he didn't give a black card but he did look like he was explaining his decision to mcvitty for some time so he had a reason. Mcvitty definitely grabbed the defenders arm as he went to ground, so my only guess is that deegan saw it as a pull back rather than a drag to the ground. If that's his reasoning id understand it. Begs the question why he black carded lee Keegan in last year's all ireland tho. . cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 4135 - 27/03/2017 18:43:17 1971965 Link 0 |
Sean you were probably in the dugout!!! Awwwwnow (Cavan) - Posts:984 - 27/03/2017 17:42:12 1971942 No I am never in he dug out when there is a match on in fact I was a bit away from the incident but my reaction was a stone wall penalty I try to be as neutral as possible. Just spoke with my friend about twenty minuets ago he was of the opinion it was a penalty and that at least a black card should have been issued. The match is over now we don't have control of what the man in black does so we have to accept his decision. The Quiet Man (Cavan) - Posts: 4565 - 27/03/2017 18:50:37 1971973 Link 0 |

Awwwwnow (Cavan) - Posts:984 - 27/03/2017 17:42:12 1971942 You know I don't be in the dug out so in reply no I was not but I was near the Kerry 45 so a distance from the incident and quiet happy to accept another spectators observation of the incident. To be fair to the ref, he gave a fee for a foul on Madden in he first half that few in the ground spotted and the free which Seanie converted at the end was a handy enough one to get. Fair dues to Seanie for stepping up to a real pressure kick.

We can only go and beat Roscommon on Sunday and leave the rest to the gods, we are a better team than Roscommon, but it all depends on how we play, and if we play for the hour. If we play the same way as the 1st half against Tyrone and 2nd half against Mayo, I think we could beat Roscommon well, and I think Mayo will struggle against Donegal. I think Kerry were very poor on Sunday, possibly one of the worst Kerry displays I've seen, and it was certainly a point lost for us, as Kerry were there for the taking, whilst there was some positives, there was alot of negatives, players on the ball were too slow to look up and see the runners, in fairness to the inside forward line, they made the runs but there was nothing coming. In the 2nd half we got a sideline kick, Clerkin hit it 30 yards back to his own man, the ball came to him, and then he let it in, why didn't he do that in the first place, its the simple things that matter, and come championship, those are the things that will let us down. cavanblueman (Cavan) - Posts: 441 - 28/03/2017 09:31:01 1972144 Link 0 |
If Roscommon had their best players out, we wouldn't be a better team than them. knowing our luck they will all return for Sunday. :) Even with the decimated squad that they have been using in this league , they still have some fantastic players. Enda smith and Diarmuid Murtagh for two. Despite the roasting they got v Dublin they still created a hell of a lot of chances. their scoring averages are still higher than ours. It seems to be their defensive structure that is not working. However given that we are hardly the most prolific team in the country , they may not need to be at their best defensively. Our midfield have been cleaned out of it in practically every game (or perhaps we have just decided to surrender possession). Chances are the same will happen v the Rossies. We have not done very well against them in recent meetings (although we have been unlucky on a few occasions.. If we had managed to keep 15 men on the field we have have got something out of the last championship game). So discipline is important . Again against Kerry our tackling was poor . There is no point trying to tackle a man once he gets past you, leave him to someone else, also no point in diving in rashly, hold him up. The best tackle is to disposses the ball. Not sure why coaches to not emphasise this more. HIT THE BALL. s goldrick (Cavan) - Posts: 5356 - 28/03/2017 13:36:20 1972236 Link 1 |
Good to see Conor Moynagh on the GAA team of the week and Killian Clarke on the Hoganstand team of the week only a few short weeks after being deemed not good enough on here. Breffni40 (Cavan) - Posts: 11690 - 28/03/2017 15:17:05 1972302 Link 0 |
He was deemed not good enough to play in the middle of the field or further up which he's not. If he was he wouldn't have been moved back would he?? Seanie was also deemed not good enough on here but he still kicked a score minutes within coming on the others wouldn't have kicked. Conor Moynagh had not one of his better games at the weekend, not sure how he got selected. Killian was excellent completely nullified Geaney who is one of the best players in the country at the minute

Yeah, that one free proved that Seanie is worth his place. Well said Dean.

Killian is much better in the full-back line and making an odd foray up the field. Cavan_Slasher (Cavan) - Posts: 10253 - 28/03/2017 16:36:42 1972370 Link 0 |
Don't worry Seanie is good enough. He's been carrying an injury this past few games. He can kick a score and has nothing to prove to anyone unlike some. And yes he kicked a vital score that keeps us in the hunt for another week. Post something constructive Skelling... if your able Awwwwnow (Cavan) - Posts: 1050 - 28/03/2017 16:46:42 1972380 Link 0 |
If we get Faulkner in now at centre half back it would tighten things up as he's a good reader of the game. Midfield is a problem. McKiernan does a lot of work but don't seem to be an out and out catcher which is sometimes needed for kickouts. Mossy although a workhorse seems to run out of steam in the last 20mins. Buchanan might be the answer in the future.
