Replying To cavanman47:  "Probably hoping against hope here, but s it possible that McGlennon has the job but can't take over until Scotstown are finished in Ulater/All Ireland series, and that an experienced man like Banty has been asked to take the reigns until then?

I doubt he would take such a short-term role (unless the money is astronomical) but that is the only capacity in which I want to see that man associated with the Cavan team."
Cavan chairman on the radio saying the announcement will be made tomorrow night and it's between Seamus McEnaney, Jack Sheedy and Mattie McGlennan. If Mattie got it, Cavan might not have him until March as Scotstown have a hell of q chance of winning Ulster. So can Cavan afford to have a manager not fully committed for the start of Division 1. So for that reason I think Seamus will get it

No reason why he cannot do both seniors don't start training until January isn't that correct. New ideas but lacking in Intercounty experience but give him a chance if he is willing to have a crack at it. He will be working with the same team anyway for this year and next until he gets a chance to see some U21 players and maybe a few different senior players.

I will have my 'BANTY OUT' placards ready for the Senior final replay if that's where the county board go with this.
Seriously, no Cavan team should be let take the field with that man at the helm.

Encouraging news about McGleenan though.

Seniors, as per GAA rules start training in January yes (we all know they start much earlier but that's besides the point).

If Scotstown were to win Ulste (not out of the question) then they would be playing into 2017.

Cavan exited the Championship in July so they are officially allowed commence training on December 1st

County boards by there nature are not know for there intelligence but this would be a massive backwards step for Cavan. Ye have the talent (4 Under 21 in recent years) , the facilities and are currently in division 1 so to win an Ulster ye nearly have everything in place. The correct manager will bring the 5 - 10 % need to get over the line. But the Banty isn't that manager, he is a nice lad and is committed to football, but he he just hasn't the shrewdness need to be a successful manger. I would guess that Cavan in two years with Banty at the helm will be back in Division 2 (possibly 3) with a lot of money spent and no silverware.

Didn't actually realise that.

Not that it makes a blind bit of difference - it must the most touted rule out there.

Of the three contenders only one stands out for me as a guy who can move things forward. Hopefully, Matty will get the nod tonight!!!

If there are three contenders I think the county board can only put one forward for ratification is this the way it goes or can all three that you ay.

Mattie has no real experience but is doing a good job with Scotstown and from what I have been told about him sounds the way to go and forget the one everyone is talking about.

The CB must do the right thing and appoint Matt McGleenan and stay well clear of Banty ... Mc Gleenan is young and out to make a name for himself in the game...a bit like McHugh was when the CB appointed him...and we know what happened then...!!!

I said it in August and hold to it now.. McGleenan is the man for Cavan.
Seamus Mcenaney- one question, what has he won as a manager? Beaten in the first round 4 times in 6 years with Monaghan. Brought Meath to Division 3. Played McManus as a half back.
NO THANKS!!"
In a Tom Smith-esque move, I now claim all the credit for the new managers appointment. Where do I collect my prize?!

County Board have made the right choice and definitely the best option from the three candidates shortlisted. Best of luck to Mattie and whoever he has in his background team. I think he has the right credentials to bring us to the next level. A good night for Cavan football.
