Cheers for that.

I am still waiting for the name of ONE player who posters think has been hard done by in terms of not being given a look-in on the Cavan panel.

John McCutcheon
Barry Reilly
Neither got a fair run.

Really thought we'd have had someone appointed by now.
A new manager would need preparation time to look at the last matches in the c/ship and pick players, make plans etc.
This is very poor from the CB.

Cavan Slasher it's par for the course really . It's always been the same old story. We missed out on McGrath a few years ago when they pushed for Andrews. When Andrews left we still could have looked for McGrath and had Terry as his number 2 for a few years. He could have learned from McGrath.
Personally I'd go for McCartan. He got Down to an All Ireland and was unlucky not to win it. All his teams play direct football.
Failing that I'd go for Mickey Moran. He's always got the best out of players with a direct style too.

Folks, how many of you feel that style of play is the most important factor in picking a new manager?

I hear the bookies have stopped taking bets on the dream team of DeanMartin, Awwwnow and Cavan Slasher? James Horan had applied with a backroom team of Micko, Sean Boylan and Martin McHugh but they didn't impress the county board and were deemed lacking in the required traits of 20/20 hindsight, spoofology and whataboutery.

No - results is the single most important factor. Always has been, always will be.

It'd be one way to get them to actually go to the games!

Who do we want as manager?
Are the county board willing to break the bank to get in a top manager? more than likely not, it seems they will settle for a mediocre set up once more to keep the finances in order.

I see Donegal have the right idea. They prepared to let the clubs decide if Rory Gallagher is entitled to a 4 year contract .. Maybe our CB could take a leaf out of their book. Let the club delegates decide if a manager stays or goes.. But we need to get a manager first!

Is it not the clubs who decide on the set up of the county board? Don't they vote the Board members into place? If in some peoples minds they got this so wrong why would you let them select a manager?

Some CB members are in paid positions and don't be voted in. That needs to change. How do you think TC and VA were elected as managers? Clubs? Your having a laugh!
