Could not agree more. I would love to know how many actual games of football some of the players you mentioned actually played this year??? They are kept from the clubs by the county, and county management don't play them or don't give them a fair chance hence they stagnate and fail to develop to their full potential. The county set up owes it to the clubs to use and develop players they get and keep from clubs. I could add to your list, Jack Brady , great potential, no consistent games played, Liam Buchanan?? Barry Reilly., Philly Tinnelly? Conor Finnegan? Joe Dillon? It's an insult throwing these players in for 5- 8 mins at the end of games when they have put in the same effort at training as everyone else. 8-9 months training for 30 mins football is no joke. If it's a case of them not being good enough they should be released back to the clubs. The one who is biggest shame of all, Declan Mc Kiernan, major midfield talent but was constantly under used and underdeveloped at County level.
On matters club , will Kingscourt hold the title, I fancy Lacken, they look in good shape Finbar Reilly has them very fit, or will Anthony Forde surprises us all with Gaels, killygary dark horses?? Should be a good few weeks of football now."
Too much emphasis placed on County Football....Tyrone have been successful, why? because, they do not neglect the league, the league is played when the County team aren't playing, and all county players are released to their clubs. With regular league football, club players are happy, and in some cases, club footballers have often been called onto the County Panel mid-season. It doesnt happen in Cavan, a few trials here and there, McKenna Cup and then its a closed panel for the year.

However I understood your last post to be saying we're some sort of football juggernaut and they're a minnow. Listen, I'm disappointed we didn't beat Derry, I think we would have had a great chance against Tipp and Galway if we did indeed get that far. Unfortunately we lost, we move on. It's the meltdowns and attempted lynchings afterwards I have the issues with."
Hardtimes - just an example of the arrogance I was talking about...

in the last 4 years we have beaten, fermanagh, derry, westmeath,London twice and carlow and lost to Kerry, and Roscommon Twice.
apparently we are favourites to beat Derry so if we win that it won't be a "scalp" Then it would be either Tipp,Roscommon or Galway. If it's Tipp we probably would be favourites , not sure about Galway as we beat them in the league but I would think if it was Roscommon they would be favourites to beat us again., so that could be considered a "scalp" though if we did manage to beat Derry and Roscommon lost to Galway the odds might change. The big teams all seem to be on the other side of the draw this year. Cork,Mayo,Kildare,Longford :)

SGoldrick - Arrogance personified below - You've dismissed Tipperarys win as nothing more than a mistake by the Derry keeper, and then you have the arrogance to say that any that any league below division 1 is not a proper competition. But whilst we are at it, when was the last time that we beat any of the teams listed below?

Roscommon had a 6-day turnaround after losing a replayed connacht final. intruth both Clare and Roscommon looked jaded. Derry and Tipp looked good and there was nothing in it, but for the unfortunate slip by Thomas Mallon while kicking out the ball that went straight to the tipp man and resulted in the goal, Derry would have won. you are reading too much in to narrow defeats in knockout competitions. The league is where it's at. look where we are... Div 1. We will be playing: Dublin, kerry, mayo,Donegal,Monaghan,Roscommon and Tyrone next year in a proper competition.

I clicked on the link for Club Scene and see a discussion regard Tipp, Roscommon, Derry, Cavan etc.
I assume they will be playing in the Senior championship as it would be unfair to ask Junior or Intermediate clubs to play against them !!!

Well i would but it seems it would not be worthwhile as you's are too busy discussing other topics.

I was hoping to find people's views on who they faniced to win each Championship, any dark horses who could do well. When will we find out what day & times clubs are playing next weekend, etc..

Well Stirringit after watching Waterford and Tipp this evening any plan in trying to promote Hurling dear I insult the word should well and truly be brushed under the dead wood for they are light years behind the hurling counties.

Well then give your views and ask a few questions on the topics you want to discuss.
And to be fair the opening post is about the lack of game time club players are subjected to and the huge gaps in club action. The structure of the AI Championship and the priorities given to county football has a huge influence on this. So again, if you actually want to discuss the club championship start a new thread or initiate a discussion on said subject.

was talking to a lad from mountnugent at work this morning. They were playing Shannon Gaels in the league last night. They lost by a few points but he was telling me that nevin O donnell gave a great display of free taking both off the ground and out of his hands.

By the sounds of it mountnugent are struggling with injuries. From what he was telling me apart from the major loss that is Givney they have 5 players injured from a small squad of about 22 players.

They got to the semi finals last year and i'd say they had their sights set of going further when givney returned.

This thread was started by Dean Martin in one of his many moans about Cavan football. He went on to state something factually incorrect. When pulled up on it he ignores the post and moves on to moan about something else. Dean, can you address the point I made in my last post on page one or at least have the decency to admit that you were mistaken?

Sean66, another moaner with no suggestions posts "sn't it great that everything is running so smoothly in our club scene...!!!! Ah sure isn't it reflected in the great progress our County team are making... "We are Blue" "Believe" ...and all that guff..." - what exactly does this add to any debate Sean?

Why a 3 week delay from when we went out of the championship to the start of the club championship? Any reason why? Wouldn't a 2 week break have been long enough?

Sean 66 has admitted he doesn't even go to games. You'd get more sense from asking an Arab how to make a snowman as ask Sean66 about Cavan football.

They're trying to get the league played and out of the way. There was no break at all for the county players with a full set of league fixtures the week after the Derry game and another two this weekend.

Miller, bisto monaghan all excellent, great team scores well worked, Ramor came out strong early in second half and killed it off then, Ado Cole very good also. Ramor missed a few goal chances early in first but didnt let it affect them, badly needed win, and another result in Gowna last night with McEnroe showing very well. Look like a team pulling well together good mix of the old and new blood
