history repeating itself. knocked out last year having played whole second half with 14. knocked out this year having played whole second half with 14.
it would make you wonder what we could have done if we had 15 because no matter what anyone says to play 40 mins a man down is definitely handicapping you by a few points at least. such a shame.

Cavan blew it. So frustrated......The lads gave everything but few things went wrong. The sending off, still haven't heard what happened, the referee was all over the kip n players n management deserve credit, but Cavan should have won this game. Taking of Argue, was as they say in snooker, Loopy! Several scores came of him in first half, but why Hyland chose him is just seriously questionably at H/T. You need a target man, its basics. Jack Brady survived on scraps n fought so hard, and won several balls n frees in second half, but had no support. Hayes? Great player, but used little in league, and nothing stuck today in end finish. Keating was ideal, but for some reason management chose no. I mean he went with Keating against Tyrone, and made excuse Johnson against Tyrone was tactical. What happened? Mossy dominated in game but took him off. Yes McKiernan was fouled on every kick out in last 15, but Mossy was needed. Buchanan poor lad, said to play against Armagh, then off, then back in, then of against Carlow, I mean what does Hyland think players think. Clarke playing everywhere, and being truthful, he was quiet enough today. The free Kinsella gave against Clarke was a joke for a shoulder to be honest. Players gave all, and deserve praise, great team, just need new management i'm afraid. Hyland has given everything, but new blood, and experienced blood needed. The County Board's next step could be crucial. Our summer should not have ended tonight. Just sick.....

Maybe we are kidding ourselves lads, do we really have the players? I mean, how many would get in the Tyrone or Donegal 15?
Killian Clarke, McVeety, and Rory dunne maybe.

The Result today turned on the sending off which appears to be a problem with discipline , had a few of these in recent years.
I think we would have been under pressure anyway with Derry having the wind in the 2nd half but sending off scuppered it.
Our Big players did not deliver , Seanie is irrelevant at this level and missing the close in free killed us. I thought mc kiernan confidence is shot and he was'nt even particularly looking to get the ball. These two with Givney appeared to be pivotal in the league run but today all were missing , but you can't fault their effort all season.

I think mc vitty has been exceptional all season and many other great inputs from Ciaran Brady , Faulkner , Clarke etc.

Cavan as hot favourites beforehand made no sense as Derry had beaten us twice, had been a division 1 team recently and their clubs have been much more successful
The players and Management have put in top notch effort but hard to know if anything else in the tank.

Maybe management could be better but we seemed to revert to old favourites for championship over some of younger players who did well in league , which might not be great for their confidence.

Divison 1 could be traumatic , we are Division 2 team going well and Divison 3 on ordinary days.

I am not sure there is someone else with magic formula , Terry deserves the year in Division 1 if he wants it to see if he can bring us on.

Gutted again should have be out of sight end of first half, the send off just killed us as we no longer could push up on the Derry kick out and it let them back in the door which should have been locked at that stage, we don't have the class up front when it matters, a play maker who knows what to do when needed, what was fergal thinking .different if we were losing at the time and it was frustration , he put cavan to the sword there are just as good wing backs in the county who can keep their discipline, , as I don't think he done enough to get a guaranteed starting position ,in fact there are club players who played well in Mckenna cup games and never featured after that, what happened to them, terry hyland seems to have his players and that's final, the players themselves must wonder what's going on, the only player who knows where he is playing is the goal keeper, Faulkner won young player award played well in the league and come champ ship he didn't no if he was in or out ,players should be picked on merit during the club championship and not because they played on the 4 under 21 teams , this is a good young panel with the desire to win and achieve ,and I don't think it's fair to them by not giving them a manager with all Ireland winning mentality to keep them together add to the team and start the league campaign with fresh ideas and a bond between panel and management like what Tyrone and Mickey Harte have, terry should walk ,and do it for the greater good , cavan gaa
Peter McGrath as done a fantastic job with Fermanagh with a limited squad , think he could be an option

Rory wasn't fit this year. Anyway, proves the point even more. We have 2 players that would be starting today's final.

Folks, yesterday's game was lost this day two weeks ago. There are just some results that a team does not recover from and conceding 5 - 18 against Tyrone took its toll on team confidence and morale. As previously stated we did not play well during the summer, peaking for the last couple of rounds of the league. However, on a wet Sunday in June we scored 3 goals and conceded 0 goals in an Ulster Semi Final but could not get across the line. That's the big disappointment from this summer. Yesterday was just a follow on from previous events.

I am not sure if anyone can bring this team to the next level but on balance I hope a new voice is in situ come the McKenna Cup in January. Thanks for all your hard work Terry you have brought the county along way!

When you have salaried official not elected by the clubs on a yearly basis it's difficult . That's our main problem. The said official was involved in the appointment of TC , VA and TH and has never had to answer to the clubs when some of these appointments backfired.

Proves my point so about our manager....picking unfit players because of favouritism... Before he walks sack him

Really is now the time to talking about replacing management. I am sure Mr Hyland and his back room staff will know if they can bring Cavan to the next level, is it for us to start a witch hunt or a head hunt less than 24 hours after losing yesterday.
People naming two managers that are all ready in a position is showing nothing but disrespect to their respective counties they manage.

Give the player's a break and everyone else also and maybe after the championship Mr Hyland may have seen some quality or prospective potential for the start of next season.

Our best football in the league was played when FF was injured yet he was restored when fit proves there's favouritism . You cannot change your whole full back line especially your full back after 7 league games. It doesn't work. I knew we were going nowhere when we scored 3 goals against Tyrone and still couldn't win. Far too much chopping and changing players in the last few games. Jack Brady thrown in the deep end yesterday after seeing very little game time up to yesterday . Don't know what the management are trying to do with young Murray . When he plays well he gets dropped. Real panic management lately . Seems when Givney went off injured against Tyrone we had nothing else in place . The players don't seem happy playing. Terry has taken us as far as he can and he needs to be man enough to admit that . There no shame , he brought great heart and commitment back to the blue jersey and for that we will always be thankful . But it's move over time now . We need a Pete mc Grath or a Malachy O Rourke to take us to the next level Asap

At the end of the day it all comes to the championship and when you break it down we have made no progress in the championship under terry. We Have not came close in ulster and round 2 or 3 is about as far as we get. ( bar 2013) We always come up 2nd best on the big occasion and have lost every final we played in. A fresh voice is needed and the county board need to make a statement and go for one of the biggest names around because we are an exciting project for an ambitious manager. Malachy O Rourke should be available soon and I think this is the man to lead us the promised land and bring that Anglo Celt back home.

I hope you took my advice and had a good cut at Derry in paddy power. Bet of the year so far .. Derry will get beaten in the next round just to prove how really bad we are.
Anyway it's time for your Uncle Terence to move over ..

I know there are going to be a lot of knee jerk reactions after yesterday's defeat.
Thing is, Derry are no world beaters and will not win the AllIreland.
Then again neither are we.
We've built up this team on the back of a great league campaign but we've been told about the great panel and the fight for places.
Was the panel used to its optimum, if you have confidence in the bench why don't you use them.
Tyrone have a great system which is held together by a great manager.
Harte learned lessons from the first game, Terry didn't.
Tough on the panel who have put the hard work in.
Well it's back to the drawing board "again".
Hopefully someday we'll get it right.

what did Flanaghan do to get himself sent off.

Why was Keating not used, was he injured or suspended. Also why was McEnroe dumped after the Tyrone game, he was no worse than any of the rest of the backs, and certainly Dunne has been off the pace in all games since his comeback.

Cavan won promotion with Clarke at fullback and Buchannon at midfield, and then championship time comes and Clarke is everywhere except fullback and Buchannon is only trusted with a couple of minutes when games were already won or lost. As someone already pointed out, Cavan's defense was better in the league when Flanaghan was out of the side, yet he has been an automatic selection, regardless of form.

I feel it is time for a new manager, and Malachy O'Rourke would be my choice too, but as of yet we dont have a vacancy and O'rourke is not available yet either. We also have the problem that Cavan's finances are not good, so can we afford a big name manager.
