Brilliant footage, never saw that before, Cavan should have won at least 1 ulster in the '70's, we were always there or thereabouts, Cullivan and Donohue were class and how good would Ollie Leddy have been if he had used two hands to catch the ball?

Best of luck Sunday hope We can do it and the stupid hype from the supporters has not got to all the players heads.

I told you so if we lose, too much bluff and bluster - we've won nothing at senior level remember

.

In reality there is very little hype around this team but people are confident that we have enough to beat Armagh.

Rose tinted glasses!

Between 1970 and 1985 only one Ulster team made an All Ireland final, Armagh in 77, and they were beat by 12 points. Its nice footage but make no mistake, Cavan were an average team with a few half decent players in the 70s as were all the teams in Ulster.

Ha ha not exactly putting your neck on the line with that statement Foxes. Anyway I'd agree with RHF, don't see much hype myself. Not that there would be anything wrong with a bit of hype. It's something we are going to have to be mature about and handle if we want to go anywhere. No team will fly in under the radar to a big final and not generate any hype. Any team that ever won anything worth winning would have been hyped up to the last within their own county and beyond. Good teams handle hype and pressure.

Get into the game from the throw-in.
It's not going to be easy but we have the players to win this game, especially in Cavan.
I also hope that the people on the sideline can see things that need to be changed early and before any damage is done. I have my doubts about them though.
Come on the Blues.

Best of luck to the lads tomorrow... This game should be won with a bit to spare but Armagh will try any trick to upset the odds... Team selection is a bit odd as I thought Cirian Brady did very little wrong during the league to be dropped but maybe he is carrying a knock... Rory Dunne has had no game time at all over the last 12 months so his selection is a worry... Here's hoping for a double victory tomorrow...

Would agree with Sean 66 but I suppose we dont see the lads in training but I thought we would have went with an unchanged team apart from Jason (who appears is inj,)
I think they are probably going for a more physically stronger rearguard as it seemed that Tyrone ran through the heart of our defence in Croke Park but this could also point the finger at Conor Moynagh who I thought played really well attack wise - but surely his main job is to stop runs through the heart of the defence.
Definately Ciaran Brady had a brilliant league but reminds me a bit of what happened Joshua Hayes a few years ago.
Championship throws up some funny selections and it reminded me of my days playing which was not today or yesterday.
The forward line has undergone some transformation from 2013. If you said then we would be starting without Keating, McDermott, Dunne and Mackey it would terrify most supporters. But things have changed and there is a great attacking policy now. Still think Martin Reilly should push up a bit more.
But on all known form Cavan should win tomorrow. But I expect Armagh to be rugged opponents and wont lie down as easily as in the Lge. Our big men should gain poscession and with Seanie , Mc Veety, Reilly and big Gearoid running through we should get the scores. Remember the true strength of a team is on its bench and we have great options there.
So best of luck to Terry and all the lads tomorrow and lets hope we are planning for Clones this time tomorrow night.

Best of luck tomorrow lads.

Expect a tough physical battle. Hope the ref is strong.

Weather wise it should be a good day so we should have big local and hopefully vocal support.

I see some former Armagh and Tyrone players talking up the Armagh team and claiming Cavan lack consistency. Don't know where they are coming from. I think Cavan have been consistant all year and in fact the game against Tyrone in Croke Park will have brought them on some more. So I think Cavan have improved alot even since we played Armagh in the league

Yes we know Armagh will bring physicality and an edge to the game but Cavan are much a better team than Armagh and if they keep their composure and belief in themselves, stay strong and match Armagh with determination and agression and play the football we're capable of playing then we should win. It doesn't matter if it's by one or 5 pts, puke football or great football, just win baby.

Come on the Breifne blues. We are Cavan.

I find the team selection strange. Killian Clarke was rock solid at FB during the league and is replaced by Rory Dunne, an accomplished footballer but seriously short on match practice and fitness as demonstrated By his recent appearances. This is no time for experimentation, you need certainty going into championship games. Baffled with Fergal Flanagan. He got injured just before half time v Meath and didn't appear for the rest of the campaign, coinciding with our best footballing period under current mgnt. Not saying his absence changed things around, but Ciaran Brady was very effective coming forward and will be missed. It's amazing how many chances some players get under this regime and how few others get. I call it favouritism and it may well come back to bite. Now that we have hard ground and championship pace, I also fear for Conor Moynagh. He was exposed ina defensive sense against Tyrone and will be targeted again tomorrow. A CHB must have high recovery pace in the modern game and I don't see it in Conor. Mores the pity because he has everything else in spades.
Anyway, despite the selection, I think the game will be won or lost in the Cavan tactics delpoyed tomorrow. If we go back to the attacking play that got us promoted I rate us as serious contenders for an Ulster championship, including Tyrone. We gifted them a Div 2 league title with our parked bus attitude and lateral passing, and will gift Armagh tomorrow as well if we go back to that stuff. At our best, Armagh should struggle to keep the ball kicked out to us, but will our talented players be allowed to express themselves? Surely we're not going to sleepwalk into an ambush tomorrow. Start as we mean to continue and restore the credibility of this proud football county. Let the players play!

I understand your post ontheforty but try and reflect back to the Tyrone match in Croke Park and see what reaction there was in one particular substitution and maybe Mr Hyland is just letting people know he is in charge.
Tomorrows match will be no walk over and anyone thinking it will be the same as the league game may stop dreaming. I expect well I hope Mr Hyland and his backroom team have a plan of action for the game as it is not about the starting 15 it's about utilising whats on the bench so the game may well be won and lost on the side line.
I have a personal reason for wanting Cavan to win this match and he will be standing on the sideline with the other team.
Best of luck to Cavan Seniors and the Danny Brady and his crew with his minors.

I would worry about this team selection. The fullback line is a real worry. I feel sorry for the lads who have worked so hard, just when we thought things were lookin up , management revert to type , this feels like dejavu every time we start championship. Have to say based on the selected players I am not overly confident. A number of players in ther look to me like theyr gettin a raw deal.

Best of luck to Cavan . I expect Armagh to use all methods fair and foul to halt us so I hope we are cute enough not to get drawn into their shenanigans. Hope our line acts decisively and speedily when required. Looking forward to a great day out and hopefully those showers don't materialise. Cavan Abu.

can't remember feeling so confident on the morning of an ulster championship match. looking forward to this Cavan team making a real statement of intent for the year. No excuses today.
A lot of cavan football people are afraid to believe in their team, talking up the prospect of a close one, warning of the possibility of armaghs spoiling tactics. it's time to move past this mindset. if armagh start a row, finish it and play them out the gate. cavan can't wait around for them to set the agenda, impose our own from the start. let's have it lads.
wont it be sweet for TH to stick one on McGeeney...
good luck to the minors.

I thought the same way Madfge before leaving for Croke Park on 24th of April.
I thought "here we go and win something today" . I was very confident.
Hopefully it was just a postponement that day.
I feel we are too slow and naive on the sideline when things are not going our way.
Today is a good test for the team but a bigger test for the management.
Hoipefully they have learned.

Today will be different Slasher.

The management tend to come in for a lot of flak here, however I think sometimes our biggest players in midfield and the forwards tend to go missing for long spells. it happens in their club matches too.

We expect TH to make changes to bring them into the game, but the lads have to step up themselves and take responsibility. GMK to half forward has been an excellent move for example, up to him how he performs in-game
