SGoldrick - the point being, Hyland looked at a lot of players during last years McKenna Cup, but a lot of them never got games in the National League. We'll see what happens come National League time, will he put faith in newcomers or revert back to the old, will he play attacking football or will we see the dross that is the blanket defence! Playing Martin Reilly at wing half back is a joke. deanmartin (Cavan) - Posts: 643 - 14/01/2016 09:43:14 1816483 Link 0 |
And now we got FF back . Terry's favourite ! Awwwwnow (Cavan) - Posts: 1050 - 14/01/2016 09:57:12 1816494 Link 0 |
I definitely think the panel is stronger this year. Conor Moynagh another quality player to have as an option. with Ciaran Brady and Niall Murray as the other "half-back" line. I don't think he will play Martin Reilly in the backs but I don't really see what the problem would be. Reilly is an extremely godd ball carrier and can link defence and attack very well. positions are not as rigid as they once were so eben if someone is listed as a half back it doesn't always follow that their main duty is defending. s goldrick (Cavan) - Posts: 5356 - 14/01/2016 10:12:48 1816499 Link 0 |
It must be hard to find reasons to slate Hyland when we haven't lost yet but Dean and Awwnow are making a solid effort. That's all we want to see lads is effort. Ramp up the criticism during the league now and be ready to peak come Championship. JonSmith (Cavan) - Posts: 1451 - 14/01/2016 11:11:56 1816528 Link 0 |
JonSmith all I said was his mate is back now so there really only 5 positions in the back line up for grabs Awwwwnow (Cavan) - Posts: 1050 - 14/01/2016 11:18:16 1816535 Link 0 |
I hope Rory Dunne does not rush back he had a serious enough injury so I say Rory let your body mend lad this game is only an amateur sport and will not give you a living. I hope that he does not become Mr Hyland's first port of call come the start of the national league. I look at the McKenna cup like challenge matches a chance to try new ideas and new player's. So far not doing too bad next match Derry in the Athletic grounds at 2pm next Sunday. The Quiet Man (Cavan) - Posts: 4565 - 14/01/2016 12:45:57 1816574 Link 0 |
it's good to get at least one more competitive game under our belts before the league starts. we need to hit the ground running. It will be a good test for the likes of Faulkner,Murray,Ciaran Brady and Killian Brady. s goldrick (Cavan) - Posts: 5356 - 14/01/2016 13:35:13 1816595 Link 0 |
Jonsmith - its never hard to find reasons to slate Hyland - the fact that he is manager and given his failures over the last 5 years is easy enough. deanmartin (Cavan) - Posts: 643 - 14/01/2016 14:25:06 1816612 Link 0 |
Deanmartin .. That's a fair post. I'd agree with all that. Awwwwnow (Cavan) - Posts: 1050 - 14/01/2016 15:00:02 1816626 Link 0 |
That's good Dean. You're working with what little material you have but you're doing well. Be careful though because you will come up against better posters who will point out that Martin Reilly plays the same role all the time under Hyland whether he wears 7 or 15 and last night was no different. But it was a good effort and that's all we want from you, effort. I expect big things from you come Championship time. This is your year I can feel it. Yeah Martin Reilly plays the same roll , Cian Mackey plays the same roll too. That leaves us with 4 forwards at max playing in a towards roll. Awwwwnow (Cavan) - Posts: 1050 - 14/01/2016 16:04:22 1816654 Link 0 |

A big year ahead for all on here! The doubters may not have as much to feed off as usual. Anyway, I'm for Omagh on Sunday and I think it should be a great game. Derry are a good team and should be entertaining. Not the end of the world if we lose or a massive deal if we win. More game time for some new players would be good and around 7 points from Keating! Any word on Gearoid? Is he training? Also, where is Jason McLoughlin? Reformation (Cavan) - Posts: 356 - 14/01/2016 21:14:49 1816755 Link 0 |
Armagh not Omagh!! Otherwise it could be a quiet Sunday! :) Reformation (Cavan) - Posts: 356 - 14/01/2016 21:15:52 1816757 Link 0 |

We seem to have a good panel this year and it's good to see old faces back. Cavan_Slasher (Cavan) - Posts: 10253 - 16/01/2016 20:34:47 1817072 Link 0 |
