Lynch U21 Manager

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

It's no wonder we are where we are when the county board ratified this man as the new U21 manager when he was instrumental along with Carr in bringing Cavan seniors back 15 years. The mind boggles to say the very least.
Clueless comes to mind???

Mowbar. You know what they are like. We have a manager at Senior level who also was involved with Carr years back . He will probably be involved with the next manager in some capacity too.

Yes you are probably right. What chance is there for our future when you have situations like this being allowed to arise year on year. It's time the club's who in fairness are the unit's that keep the county board ticking.
Time a board of inquiry has to be set up but having said that they would be ribs of the county board so maybe a waste of time and money.
It's so disappointing to see this happening for in my opinion he is not the man for the job thats for sure.

Was there anyone else looking for the job?

He got the job the day after his club scored 5 points in an Ulster club match and 3 of them were from frees.

Yes from what I hear there was one other but he withdrew his name for there was far too much baggage with his past.
Look they should have looked around and spoke with a few people for as it stands the U21 looks like it's going to be removed but they have been saying this a long time. I remember when he Lynch was with Carr a person saying to me you are watching the future senior manager well I think he must have known something everyone else in Cavan did not.

the mind boggles it has to be said. Cavan teams have struggled badly over the years but the two worst days in recent times came from kingscourt on Sunday and Mullhorhan in 2012. Both looked tactically clueless. You have to wonder. However it must be said he did win championships with extremely average sides. Kingscourt are very very average bordering on Poor so he deserves credit for that. I don't think any manager could have steered them to victory on Sunday.

Good luck to him. I'm sure he would never be as good a manager as Mowbar but no one can be that perfect.

Fredflint I am speaking from experience and I can tell you that despite the fact Mr Lynch has two senior wins under his belt and also the All Irelands with Virginia I can tell you now if you think that the football is bad just wait and see what he does to the U21 players, Hyland will not have to worry about brain washing them it will be all ready done.

I don't have any aspirations to being a manager or training especially with the negative football that people like you seem to enjoy. Can you imagine your club Cavan Gaels really turning negative, as it is they are close but maybe they might see the light before it's too late. Lynch will do nothing for Cavan he has been there remember and what did he do.

Who cares?

The u21 competition is a waste of time, and is well past its sell by date. I believe the GAA are looking into axing it soon. Not before time.

The demands on young players nowadays is unacceptable, scrapping this competition will go someway to alleviating this problem.

Mowbar, I think you are being very selfish depriving Cavan of your football knowledge. Maybe you are waiting for the Cork job or maybe there is just too much grass to cut but maybe you could rethink? Anyway the man has the job now so best of luck to him.

Best of luck to the man, but his reign could be a short one if the U21 is scrapped.

I wouldn't berate him for Kingscourt's drubbing, it's not his fault that standards in this county are rubbish. Rather the administration which persists with too many clubs and no innovation to improve.

No need in scraping the U21 competition, it's finished by May. Senior County team should be made play without U21 players in that period.

Best of luck to Niall...

"I wouldn't berate him for Kingscourt's drubbing, it's not his fault that standards in this county are rubbish"..What a load of Tosh.. Its on his head, he's the manager and it up to him to have the team right. You obviously didn't hear his after match comments where he basically said as much...

Only candidate. People giving out name one other one. As for Kingscourt being hammered. Can't blame a lack of challenge in Cavan as some are. They lost twice and only won final by point. Kilcoo are a serious outfit at their peak while Kingscourt have a lot of lads wrong side of 30 and squeezed a championship out plus had a lot of football in legs.

Some people on this make me laugh, mowbar its you I'm talking about. Yes Niall lynch was involved with Tommy Carr but you seem to forget so was Peter Reilly and he didn't do bad as u21 boss. He's won all Ireland's at schools level & championship at senior level he deserves a shot. Best of luck to Niall and his selectors
