Cavan clubs in Ulster

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Anyone know who the Cavan champions face? The Ulster club has always proved a bridge too far for Cavan teams.

Best of luck to Templeport, Ballyhaise and Kingscourt in Ulster, Cavan football could to with a good luck story in 2015.

congratulations to Kingscourt yesterday. Unfortunately I couldn't make it home to see the match. I had to rely on northern sound (which was good to be fair). I felt for Castlerahan at the end though as it must be heartbreaking to come so close. Hopefully they can come again next year. Kingscourt had a long campaign but probably improved as it went on. Hopefully they can put up a good performance against kelcoo although Kilcoo are one of the best in the country. Great to see ulster club football back in O'Raghallaigh Park.

That doesn't show where cavan football "really is", most of those teams have populations bigger than our parishes. There is a team from louth in there so does that mean that they are a better footballing county than cavan ? no it does not

I said Cavan club football, not Cavan county football. You have teams from Monaghan, Donegal Tyrone, Down, Armagh,Antrim,Derry, appearing in the odds. Seven counties in Ulster only Cavan and Fermanagh missing.
We also have our neighbouring counties of Meath ,Westmeath,Louth & Longford also appearing in the odds.
That tells me a lot about what people think of Cavan club team chances as odds given are a reflection on what people are thinking.

Sorry my mistake, I am still right in saying that the top club teams in Ireland are more parishes than towns. Well anyone who thinks Longford club football is doing better than cavan would want to be shot, I'm from Arva and I went to school in Longford so I would attend their club matches regularly if they are on close by and a lot of our intermediate teams would contend for their senior title.Anyway I think templeport and ballyhaise will do well in ulster, but not so sure about kingscourt.

Cavan and Fermanagh Clubs have never won the Ulster Senior Club, That's what they are probaly basing it on..

It's hard to see any of the cavan teams having a chance in Ulster again this year . Ballyhaise have good forwards but might struggle around the middle , kingscourt have had a long year already and templeport have a quite inexperienced side .

don't know anything about the donegal junior champions so can't say what Tepleport's chances are. Templeport are an improving side and have some good quality young players. It would be nice to see them progress. I think Kingscourt will be up against it as Kilcoo have been one of the top teams in Ulster for a few years now. (I see Joe Dillon is still suspended.. I thought it was only a one-match ban for a red card...what's the story there). Ballyhaise can win, they have the players.

It will be interesting to see what sort of
condition Breffni is in tomorrow for the games . It will more then likely be a win for the two away teams unfortunately

I expect both Cavan teams to be soundly beaten tomorrow.

And as usual we'll continue to delude ourselves and ignore the obvious crisis in Cavan club football where there are simply too many clubs in existence.

Well done Templeport on a resounding victory away from home.

Kilcoo a slick outfit. That was as bad a beating as the hammering Mullahoran got in 2012 by Errigal Ciaran.

Lets hope Templeport can go on a good run now...a great result away from home... The hammering our senior champions got just shows how far we have fallen down the pecking order in Ulster in Ulster football...!!!

its so funny that despite the evidence like today's hammering for Kingscourt that we still have fans who blame Terry Hyland for the ills of our senior county team. Cavan club football is dire when compared to the best teams in Ulster. Far too many poor quality teams, in far too many poor quality competitions. And despite our senior county team going out of the qualifiers early on we see the madness of championships only recently been finished and leagues still on going. There was no reason why far more league and championship games were not played in the summer when pitches were at their best and weather was more suitable to the playing of football. Its not only adult football that is being held back by this, but the U21 championship only started today, total stupidity. I also notice that the U14's are in full swing. Can anyone explain the reasoning as to why U14's are still playing clubs games at this time of the year. How is the standard of football ever going to improve when you have kids playing clubs games at this time of the year. Gaelic Games is designed to be played at its best in the summer months.

I also find it stupid that we have so many divisions at all levels, div 5 in underage grade and now similar at adult level with Junior D grade. Its as if we are trying to fool ourselves that if we create more tings for players to win it will somehow magically create winners in the higher grades, and at senior county level. We have all these kids with winners medals but have not improved the quality at all
