So being a kick of a ball away from Monaghan justifies another year of the same. No mention of the fact that Monaghan were off form the day we played them, were there for the taking and we couldn't. No acknowledgement that we couldn't do what Sligo and Fermanagh achieved against Roscommon. No mention of our tactical ineptitude, our poor player resource utilisation, our indecision or our late-late substitutions. A kick of a ball is all that matters. ondforty (Cavan) - Posts: 442 - 29/07/2015 10:44:36 1760640 Link 0 |

I haven't posted in a while or read the boards in while because the negativity was nauseating. I am a Cavan supporter first and foremost. I'm not pro Terry or anti Terry. I appreciate what he has done and I belive he is a great football man. However a change was needed. Players cannot be listening to the same voice for so long. Also some players are in the comfort zone with him in charge and don't have to justify selection. Therefore less hungry. If he decided to stay on fair enough but clubs should have had a say. Also if I'm being cynical I hope this is not connected to the state of the finances. Taking the cheap and easy option. doratheexplorer (Cavan) - Posts: 1467 - 29/07/2015 12:30:13 1760725 Link 0 |
this is very bad news for cavan football, another year wasted. as a previous poster said above, we needed change to get bite. No inform players are asked into the panel, its the same lads in the same places. Was a young wing back from Kingscourt very impressive in last years championship, now maybe he was asked in and turned it down? I don't know, definatly deserved a call up sammaguire1 (Cavan) - Posts: 279 - 29/07/2015 12:46:29 1760740 Link 0 |
By any chance was Donal Og Cusack referring to Cavan Co Board when speaking on Sunday Game.....? How dare Cavan Co Board treat football people players, clubs, fans with such utter contempt, don't be surprised when even fewer turn out to support Cavan next year. This decision shows a complete lack of vision, ambition or knowledge of football on the part of those who made it, do any of them know anything about football and to think this was unanimous? There are a number of 'operators' complicit in this and the sooner they get moved on out of Co Board the better. Alas it will be too late for a generation of players who have seen their effort and commitment abused and wasted. The County Board have been clapping themselves on the back for the great talent we have in the county. That talent emerged as a result of the work of Nicholas Walsh , Patricia Conroy, Peter Donnelly and Dermot Mc Cabe over the years in the development squad system. The development squads since 2002-03 have produced a plethora of players schooled in the basic skills , educated about diet, nutrition, mental preparation etc and passionate about playing for Cavan. That conveyor belt of talent has been inappropriately used and mismanagement, incompetence and favouritism have allowed huge numbers of those players be undermined, disillusioned and discarded by the current system. Shame on the people responsible for this. shannon414 (Cavan) - Posts: 228 - 29/07/2015 13:19:52 1760774 Link 0 |
Well said shannon 414 it's a disgrace and the clubs in the county need to step up to the plate and not let this happen , Cavan football has gone back 10 years under this management team , Cavan supporters are outnumbered 3 to 1 at every game because of this management team . I am ringing breffni park today to cancel my club breffni and will not go to see my own county team until something constructive is done for players and supporters alike darbec (Cavan) - Posts: 61 - 29/07/2015 14:34:14 1760830 Link 0 |
I wonder what convinced the CB and the players to keep the same management team? desagov (Cavan) - Posts: 201 - 29/07/2015 15:28:57 1760877 Link 0 |
I agree with everything said above, but the issue of possible milestones is an interesting one. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 4135 - 29/07/2015 16:11:04 1760908 Link 0 |

Darbec.... You are totally correct in what you say... I know Terry is a great football man but surely he can see that the fans have lost faith in his woefull style of football.... Anybody who pays in or supports this set up needs their heads looked at.. I will follow your lead and cancel my contributions and stay well clear of Briffni park in 2016 if there is no change... Terry Hyland is staying another year, but is he keeping the same back room team? Has anyone heard? Cluichepeil (Cavan) - Posts: 57 - 29/07/2015 18:32:02 1760986 Link 0 |
Disgraceful decision. Hang your heads in shame whoever is responsible for this obscenity. Cavan senior football has been one sorry episode this past two seasons, and the travesty continues. Based on the current downward trajectory, Hyland will have us relegated next year alongside the usual early Ulster and qualifier exit. He peaked in 2013 and has been living off the Derry match ever since. Promotion to division 2 was welcome, but championship is the yardstick, and his record is dismal. You are like a broken record Ned, we know what you think why the need to spew out your negative bile 100 times. Why don't you go and spend some time with your club and stop the constant moaning, do something constructive. Good luck to Terry and the lads next year. fredflint (Cavan) - Posts: 1333 - 29/07/2015 21:43:58 1761083 Link 0 |
Shameful from the county board... It all comes down to championship and bar beating derry in 2013 his record has been abysmal. 3 of the exits we were beaten out the gate.. ( Kildare) Rossies x2) Not what we wanted at all. wake up and smell the cofee blueskies (Cavan) - Posts: 151 - 30/07/2015 10:52:14 1761133 Link 0 |

When we are relegated to Division3 next February/March he should be told to go then and not keep him for the Ulster campaign. mowbar (Cavan) - Posts: 452 - 30/07/2015 12:47:47 1761181 Link 0 |
Reading about Ger Loughnane in Independent today seems Cavan is not the only county poorly served by its County Board. That together with the nauseating reporting of the matter in the local newspaper with no genuine critical analysis of the situation, looks like the county board control the media too, very worrying. I hear a lot of people around the county talking of withdrawing their Club Breifne sponsorship all very dismal disheartening stuff. The players must be sickened at all of this. It is not people just moaning as suggested by one poster here, there is genuine disbelief at the ineptitude of the group that made this decision. Does anyone know was it a secret vote or a show of hands at the meeting. Show of hands is the Kalashnikov of choice of all good dictatorships! shannon414 (Cavan) - Posts: 228 - 30/07/2015 14:43:18 1761254 Link 0 |
I've a great idea. Ned and mowbar and their fellow cranks. I'm sure great Gaa men like you are members of your club. Go down to your next committee meeting and propose a vote against terry. Since ye represent the views of the vast majority of supporters ( in your own minds at least) you should have no problem getting support. Then when the vote comes through your club committee instruct your county board delegate to support the motion and then terry will be gone and you'll never have to moan and whinge again. That's how Gaa democracy works, not another word from ye until you step up and do something instead of whinging. fredflint (Cavan) - Posts: 1333 - 30/07/2015 19:16:14 1761396 Link 0 |
