Glad to see that Enda, Jack, Tom and Barry are getting some game time, they are top of the ground players! kildare blue (Cavan) - Posts: 572 - 10/04/2015 14:15:48 1712736 Link 0 |
Great to see Cavan staying in what was a very peculiar Div 2, i must say the stats don't make great reading, average of 12 points scored and only one goal would make you wonder in what way are Terry and Liam McHale are making Cavan more expansive!!, and one solitary goal can't breed much confidence in the FF line. Anyway safety in Div 2 is safety, despite the cumbersome and defensive play needs must, another slow step on Terrys ,much quoted 4-5-8-10 year plan, its progress all the same. Good to see some of the fringe players getting game time on this trinket to New York...Cant help feel though that Monaghan will be wetting their lips hearing and looking at this trip by Cavan, some of the furore, meet and greets, and dinner nights, you wouldn't see from the All Ireland winners trip....I cant help think that the lads eye will be taking off the ball, while Monaghan put in the hard graft on their trip to Portugal!...i find it bit the circus going over a bit amusing and the timing perplexing, seems to me like it would be better timed at end of season and definitely alot LOWER KEY, but i hope they get some sort of benefit from it, even though can't how, maybe Monaghan will take a hiding from Dublin this weekend and help us for he big one!, ..An Cabhan Abu! cavancoop (Cavan) - Posts: 49 - 10/04/2015 15:10:17 1712764 Link 0 |
Its a good trip for the lads over in the US, all expenses paid - essentially a bit of a training and team building camp other than that I'd say they will get little out of the games as the championship 15 is probably picked at this stage (apart from injuries) - would have rather been facing into a division 2 final. Our next opponents are facing Dublin in croker - will probably get beaten but is worth far more to them than our games against NY ... Still its only gonna be friendly games now until the big one. sidelineview (Cavan) - Posts: 106 - 10/04/2015 16:01:33 1712796 Link 0 |
To be fair I can't see how this trip would hinder anything, plenty of teams go away on team bonding events, it brings the group closer together and camaraderie off the field among the players is a good thing. Ned_Stormcrow (Cavan) - Posts: 1022 - 10/04/2015 16:49:00 1712815 Link 0 |
the lads deserve it. hope they have a great time in a wonderful city. it's great for all the GAA people in New York too. it's not very often that they get any proper friendly matches in preperation for their annual match against their connacht oppenents. s goldrick (Cavan) - Posts: 5356 - 10/04/2015 16:53:20 1712817 Link 0 |

Sean66 i said it before. If cavan football annoys you so much then stop supporting tthem. You wont be missed. Oh and bring your other identities with you too. Bye bye now sceptical (Cavan) - Posts: 542 - 11/04/2015 12:15:15 1712947 Link 0 |
Out of the 15 that started against New York I would be amazed if more then 2 of those players started against Monaghan IamADragon (Cavan) - Posts: 269 - 11/04/2015 12:50:29 1712959 Link 0 |
Sceptical.... It is county football in general that has become unwatachable and the blame lies totally with lazy coaching and negitive managers... I will never stop supporting Cavan but like many others cant stand their boreing style of play... Just look at our attendances for our 3 home league games...about 8000 turned up over the 3 games...that is patitic for a so called improveing team... Supporters know best and regardless of results they are not going to pay in to watch rubbish... Its not just Cavan but across the board Sean66 (Cavan) - Posts: 440 - 11/04/2015 12:57:36 1712961 Link 0 |
Only an idiot would continue to pay for the privilege of watching something which THEY class as rubbish!! sceptical (Cavan) - Posts: 542 - 11/04/2015 14:24:55 1712986 Link 0 |
Yeh Sean66, do you sit there moaning constantly for the whole match? But then some people just love to moan. fredflint (Cavan) - Posts: 1333 - 11/04/2015 15:32:26 1713006 Link 0 |
How do you lads explain the poor attendances? Cavan_Slasher (Cavan) - Posts: 10253 - 11/04/2015 16:05:03 1713017 Link 0 |
Cavanslasher.... They cant explain the poor attendances thats the point.... You can put it down to iggorance or stupidity but most who know anything about football would agree there is nothing interaining about the way Cavan play so they end up staying away... Reason explained....even they can work that out...maybe...!!!! Sean66 (Cavan) - Posts: 440 - 11/04/2015 17:01:16 1713040 Link 0 |
ANOTHER thread hijacked by the anti Hyland Brigade.... If ye put in as much effort to your clubs as you do finding reasons to berate management Cavan football would surely be on the up. JonSmith (Cavan) - Posts: 1451 - 11/04/2015 19:53:19 1713109 Link 0 |
Going really well Jon Smith....a last minute goal beats the mighty New York...great prep for Monaghan.... More like a waste of time and money in my opinion Sean66 (Cavan) - Posts: 440 - 12/04/2015 10:12:18 1713181 Link 0 |
