Cavan v Kildare

Although im a big Fan off Mc keever.. Its worrying enough that F Flanagan Mc keever & lyng can still get in ahead off 4 years off U21 players..

Terry has a System as have all Intercounty Teams now. Losing players like Mc Enroe Mackey is nt helping our league form. The conditions were attrious last sat & i ll not be taking anything from that game. Personnally i ve have used Mossy & a few bigger lads grind out a result.

I still think the FAB FOUR missing will have a Huge bearing on Terrys Future & cavans championship.. League promotion is gone now..

Dennman - Terry has a system that isnt working, full stop. Hes 4 yrs into his tenure, within that 4 yrs, we've got promoted once.
Now, people will argue we got to an All Ireland Q/F in 2013, but we struggled against a poor London side, and were destroyed by Kerry, we got to a Division 3 Final in 2014 but lost out to Roscommon, we got knocked out of Ulster by an Armagh team, who were relagated to Div 3 and beaten again by Roscommon in the qualifiers. This years football has been in my view absolutely terrible, a few wins in the McKenna Cup, draw against the Rossies and a win against a terrible Laois team has simply masked over some abysmal displays, recently against Down in the league and against Tyrone (2nd half failed to score), Monaghan (2nd half raised the white flag once) and Fermanagh (scrappy goal at the end to win).
We had the wind at our backs in the 2nd half against Down Sat night, when things werent working out, the management never changed things - it was a 5ft 7inch Down player than dominated the game!

A rise in temperature today, hopefully a dry mild night on Saturday, good football conditions, lets see what the boys can then do on the field of play. Always thought that this is a team that will do better when the pitches firm up.

Cavanblueman. Was Jason McLoughlin in his own half when he scored a point. No wonder the Celt said he was our best player. No point debating with fools though.

Outstanding contribution cavanblueman. Let me pick at your nonsense.

Terry Hyland was appointed in late April 2012. By my maths that's less than three years, yet to suit your, and others' endless agenda you say four years.

Typing "full stop" doesn't make anything prior to that statement any more/less true. The same goes for the word "fact". Ironically, my last statement is indeed a fact.

If people argue that Cavan got an AIQF in 2013 it's because it's true. This fact business is fun, when you're actually dealing in facts.

You "forgot" to mention that Cavan won promotion from Division 3. Another fact.

The Armagh team that got relegated from Divsion 2 (I'll give you that one) got to the AIQF losing by one point to Donegal, the eventual finalists.

Cavan have played eight games this year. They've won five, drawn one and lost two. You point out that the bad points of the victories as well as the defeats.

But you kept your best til the end. The height of the man dominating the game for the opposition is the most damning criticism of this Cavan team.

Keep 'em coming.

FREDFLINT - it would have been some point if he score it from his own half...You'll find McLoughlin got a telling off after the match for being so far up the field - in any case, seeing as you know so much, how many of our back line have scored in 2015, should give you an indication on what players are told.
As for the Celt, Im presuming youre talking about Paul Fitzpatricks column, the column where Terry can do no wrong!

So your original point blown out of the water you now know that Terry gave out to Jason for attacking to far forward. Up the yard with ya.

Cavanblueman , why do you (and others) have to make silly exaggerations to make a point ? Whatever argument you're making (I'm not saying you may not have a valid point) just gets lost because there's so many holes in how you put your point across . If you have something valid to say you should be able to get it across without sounding like you have some personal agenda . From your previous rant the only thing I can acknowledge from it is "We had the wind at our backs in the 2nd half against Down Sat night, when things werent working out, the management never changed things " . As for the rest , can't be taken seriously .

Very disappointing if that's is correct about Hayes and Tinley leaving the panel, in a way I can't blame the guy's , they probably realised they weren't one of the managers favourites , and no matter how well they played they weren't going to get much game time, unlike others in the panel.

Two players are supposed to have left the panel.
Anyone know if this is true?
Not going to name them until it's verified.
If true then there's problems in the camp.

this is brutal , how many more players are going to leave, dec mc kiernan, tierney, hayes, keating, givney, hessin, tinnily.
county board must look into the managment if we are going to win an ulster title, too many big men gone and no one to replace them,

Very sad to read in the Anglo Celt online that Josh Hayes and Philip Tinnley have left the panel. Its a massive blow mid way through the league.
Hayes in my opinion should have started every match. I cannot remember him having a bad game in the Cavan Jersey.
Philip had a great year in 2014. Very quick, great control and could take a score at pace and again very unlucky not to get a starting place in the championship. Then unfortunately brought on in Breffni in a game that was over against Roscommon denying him the captaincy for the All Ireland Junior title. He form did dip in the McKenna cup but was early on and did get the goal against Fermanagh. I don't think these lads can be replaced easily.
I don't want to start any more arguments because we know there is enough on this site. I continue to support our County anywhere and the players and Terry because I do believe he and these players have brought this county on from when he took over (again im not looking to start a row. that's what I believe).

However it was pointed out by two people the following things that I think are very important.
Firstly, in any Job, reflection is a must. You cannot move forward without reflecting on the job you have done, and seeing if you could have done any better or improve yourself in your role. Its a given in any professional Job.

Secondly, and it has been pointed out here many a time here but after 50-60 minutes in nearly all Rugby matches, what happens? The management utilises the bench. He has to in order to see out the match in the same fashion as he started. These are 80 minute matches but when you add up injury time at the end of both halves in Gaelic you are near the 80 mark (I know if you nitpick the clock is stopped in rugby) but the point is you keep the momentum going so you can complete the gameplan in a similar timeframe.

Because players left already, should the manager and management not have sat down to seen why they left and rectified the problem thus ensuring that a repeat would be unlikely? and that the rest of the squad were happy? I do know that we have a very good sizeable squad and you cant keep everyone happy but the manager and management do have their favourites and that's okay when they are playing out of their skins keeping others out of the team and warrant their place. But if there is a player on better form than what's out there and getting little to no game time then you will have problems and discontent.

Bringing on subs with a handful of minutes to go in a match that could have been won will not do the first 15 or the fringe players morale any good and also weaken your gameplan as they should have gotten 10-15-20 minutes out on the field.

I will be there in the park tomorrow night shouting on the lads hoping for 2 points that will take us very close to safety. Hopefully we will see these players back in Breffni Blue where they belong.

I'm not overly concerned about Tinnelly but Hayes is a big loss. Was he not man of the match against Monaghan in the McKenna Cup? I thought he had a super game. That said, he is regularly dropped for Killian Brady and I feel that it is harsh. I can't blame him seeing for walking as he was brought on for a couple of minutes against both Laois and Down. His performances in the McKenna Cup didn't warrant that disrepect.

I don't mean to be negative but I fear Kildare tomorrow. Their team has been named and has quality forwards like Eamonn Callaghan and Thomas O'Connor, who had a field day in Breffni 3 years ago. What lost us the game against Down was our lack of quality forwards compared to the opposition and I think tomorrow night may be the same.

That's a good post Cavan97 . I'd have to agree with all that . I personally think Kevin Tierney was treated very poorly as well and it has come back to bite us . We could do with having him now as another forward option . While I believe overall our forward options are limited I find it frustrating with this management that they indulge certain players no matter what their contribution and others only get scraps of game time .

Moving forward to the game tomorrow - I'm hopeful of a good result . I said it before - this is a very important game and could be a major turning point in the direction this squad and management is heading .

We simply cannot afford to keep haemorrhaging players. I think we'd all like to know the reason these boys are walking away. We're a small county with a limited panel. Hayes is a big loss and is not readily replaceable. One thing this Cavan team lacks is pace and Hayes had that.

I said at the start of the year when Keating, Givney etc walked that thing were looking bleaker by the day. We'll sink or swim in this league on tomorrow nights result. A loss will bury us and kickstart Kildare.

Have to agree with the sentiments of previous posters, Hayes is a major loss, has pace bravery and a very honest player, often thought he was harshly treated, have seen him dropped before after very good performances. Again begs the question why do so many players get their place no matter how poorly they play.? Tinnelly burst on to the scene looked like he had great promise but went backwards under the current management as did Declan Mc Kiernan , David Givney and Kevin Tierney. IMO hylands biggest problem is not within his squad of players but rather within his squad of selectors, if he doesn't deal with it it's about to sink him. We have the players to stay in Div 2 even win it, and to beat Monaghan and go on in Ulster but as they are currently being undermined and lost I am beginnin to despair. I'm worried about tomorrow night will go to the game but......well I hope I'm wrong.

When I heard about the two latest defections from the camp I thought it was a windup. Hayes in particular was the last player I expected to leave voluntarily. He put up with a lot of disappointments under this management and kept coming back for more. He seemed to have established himself during the McKenna cup this year and marked Conor Laverty out of it in the Down match. The same Conor Laverty who was MOM last week in Hayes's absence.

I also felt that Philip was poorly treated by playing him in the last cause v Ross last year and deprived him of a change to lift an All Ireland trophy. This for me demonstrates a complete lack of consideration by management.

I'm obviously not in a minority of observers of favouritism from management. I see double standards in terms of evaluating performance and if it's not corrected, others will be tempted to follow. I know one lad from our club who is also close to leaving the panel.

we have a better team not playing at the moment with all the defections If you look at the players that are gone ie Declan Mc Kiernan ,Alan Clarke, David Givney Kevin Tierney ,Josh Hayes Philip Tinnelly ,Eugene Keating ,etc. they are all excellent footballers who have been treated badly by the management probably because they couldnt adapt to the so-called system. We will end up with a team where everyone is the same - no individual flair - all workhorses - afraid to take a chance in case it wouldnt look good on the stats.
I hope I m wrong but i think we re going backwards. Last Saturday night was horrible to watch against a poor Down team. I d be very fearful for us against Kildare as we seem to learn nothing from games only doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results
