Freaflint... I really hope that Cavan win as well but it still wont change my mind about our terrible style of football...

Alonso ever hear of time difference. So the real time of travelling same as Monaghan

err no. the real time is the amount of time you actually spend on the plane.

Jesus, what kinda of forum is this - flight times wha - it took Cavan 3 weeks to go to the Polo Grounds in a steamboat and they still won in 1947. Not sure of the weather that day but it looked dark ! May 22nd, 2015 will most likely be a wet day and btw the first 2 weeks of June could be up to 26 degrees !

Rail, hail, or heatwave, if the will and hunger is there and maybe if we can score a goal or 2 and keep our discipline, why can't we beat Monaghan in our back yard on. Lots of Ifs but sure that's the same with any game no matter who plays. It was noticeable in the last couple of league games that really good goal chances were been created. Monaghan are definitely favourites having done so well in Division 1 but I would have to say that if we can sort out full forward line and get Niall McDermott back doing all that donkey work, Monaghan could be in for an almighty shock - ala the Derry game in 2013 ! It wouldn't be a huge shock for Cavan to beat Monaghan but this is championship !

One thing is for sure, if you get behind your team in Breffni it will give them a lift ! If you don't believe they can win, you be better off at home ! This ain't cuckoo talk, that's fact !

Ok, just for fun, if you were to pick a Monaghan Cavan 15 what would it look like?

This is Mine

1. R Beggan
2. R Wylie
3. D Wylie
4. F Flanagan (Would have C Walshe in here if fully fit)
5. D Mone
6. V Corey
7. K Clarke
8. G McKiernan
9 D Hughes
10. C Mackey
11. P Finlay
12. S Gollogly
13 M Dunne
14 K Hughes
15 Conor McManus.

Obviously I am biased, but would you Cavan lads put anyone else in there?

Hey Jampot. The 1947 Cavan team actually flew to New York. while Kerry went by sea.

Half went by air and half by sea. Not that its relevant. I've seen pics of both teams on the boat playing about together.

The half that went by air played better than those who sailed ha ha ha.

Ok, just for fun, if you were to pick a Monaghan Cavan 15 what would it look like?

1. Beggan - No contest here, super keeper, arguably the best in the country.
2. McLoughlin - Assured, confident, tidy footballer.
3. D Wylie - Shades it, but only just. I've seen Sean Cavanagh and Kieran Donaghy get cleaned out of it by Rory Dunne who is a big game player.
4. C Walshe - One of the best corner backs around.
5. F Flanagan - Gets in ahead of Corey, younger and sharper. But very similar type players.
6. D Hughes - No contest
7. D Mone - Not exactly my favourite player, but a good player is had to be said.
8 Gearoid - Monaghan just dont have a midfielder of his calibre. When he has good days, he's unstoppable.
9 Argue - Will make an impact in championship this year I think.
10. Mackey - Takes two men to mark him sometimes.
11. Kieran Hughes - Superb footballer. Could slot into midfield too.
12. Martin Reilly - Cavans best player
13. Conor McManus - Speaks for itself
14. Chrissy McGuinness - Bit of a goal threat in him.
15. Finlay - Still has it.

McEnroe for me would be ahead of Mone. Wylie and Dunne are as close as makes no difference. Think Argue won't be midfield this year, I think Mossy Corr or Damien Reilly will be in there. Also Killian Clarke has to be on that team.

Im sorry lads, nobody could get in ahead of Mone. He was hugely unlucky not to have an allstar having being nominated 3 times. He would be my first pick all day. if it was up to me I would have given it to Mone in 2013 ahead of Walshe but the half back line was a much tougher line for an award that year than the full back line. Walshe still deserved it tough!

So we had Fredflint & Stormcrow telling us how good Cavan were in recent times and theyll beat Monaghan in the championship, but when it comes to picking a Cavan/Monaghan 15, the majority of picks are from Monaghan.

I'm not sure about or Killian Clarke for midfield. I think if you played Owen Lennon for one half and Dick Clerkin for the other that would be your best option. I also like the Monaghan half back Fintan Kelly. but to be fair there is not a whole lot in the difference between the two teams... APART from Conor McManus.. and he is a massive difference to be fair.

SGoldrick - are you for real? ....we're a poor team, playing Division 2 football, with nothing to show over the last few years except one promotion. We failed to score in a full half of a Final this year, scored 1 goal in a National League Campaign, whilst Monaghan are competing confortably against the top teams in the Country, and you think theres not much between the teams.....

shannon414 - Sorry mate, absolutely no truth in Paul Fitzpatrick coming in.
I did hear a rumour about some McCorry lad coming in before the Championship, apparently he was with Redhills some time ago.
