I see, thanks for that. So that would be 3 weeks for most Junior teams waiting from their last League game til 1st Championship game. Wouldn't think too many will be happy with that. I presumed last week, all 3 Championships started this bank holiday weekend.

Wonder will they do another draw for the junior now that the rounds have been swapped cause the teams playing on week 1 know opponents for 2 rounds compared to the rest of the teams..

The Junior teams that got a bye play on w/e Aug 7th to 9th, All other Junior teams have a league game on Sunday next @ 1.00 and they play first round of Cutivehampionship on weekend Aug 14th to 16th so the 4 teams that reach the SEMI'S will play 6 consecutive weeks if they are not Maghera, Drung, Templeport or Swanlinbar. I HOPE that this clarifies the Junior schedule for you. That's the way that I see it anyway at this stage who do you see making the Semi's and who do you see taking The Sean Leddy cup? Yea, just checked the fixtures on the Cavan website. Most Junior teams have games, couple of clubs don't have any, i assume the clubs who were faced with teams playing Intermediate Championship will have a free weekend. Any word on why Swanlinbar haven't taken part in the ACFL? Numbers low or wanting to come in under the radar? Im extremely looking forward to the Junior Championship in particular. I fancy at least 4 or 5 clubs to really fancy their chances if not more. David Givney returning for Mountnugent really throws them into the mix bigtime. I think they are hot & cold but if they click and tighten up rhe defence they will have say. Templeport will fancy it also, a good young and upcoming team again. Redhills with their main players back will think they can match most of their day. Shannon Gaels with 2 big wins in the League so far, they must be moving well and will be up there again. Knockbride and Denn play each other this weekend in Division 2, i wonder will both clubs keep their cards close to their chest or go at it from the off? If i had to pick a winner right now and trust me i could choose 4 or 5 i will stick the neck out and say Denn. Shannan Geals a close 2nd with Knockbride. But don't be surprised with alot of different results along the way with a few other clubs able to produce on the day, Drumalee/Munterconnacht/Drung, and as said above, interested to see what outfit Swanlinbar come to the Championship with. The biggest squads will surely have a say with a game every weekend for 5 or 6 weeks up until the semi final. Best of luck to all. has the time come to consider moving Maghera down to the reserve championship. They are obviously out of their depth even at junior level and while it's ok in Division 3 where every team gets the chance to improve their scoring difference, at championship level only 4 teams get that chance and it can distort the final standings in the table for quarter final qualification? wishfulthinkin (Cavan) - Posts: 1481 - 09/08/2020 00:35:02 2286938 Link 0 |
Did you predict ballinagh to beat arva the day after the game
tom84 (Cavan) - Posts: 247 - 09/08/2020 09:21:23 2286949 Link 0 |
I wouldn't think so. Maybe it was delayed. 3 exact scorelines so far is impressive goin from me if I do say so. Deprived of two more with Lavey and Killygarry spurning late point chances to bring in two more exacta's for me. These "bye" weeks that are cutting down the list of games are the only thing stopping me from winning huge money on accumulators. I wouldn't be so harsh on Maghera either. I think they have started to show progress over the last few years and that's not a terrible beating against a decent Templeport team who should be in the shake-up. That said, I was 6 points under with that prediction, and both myself and Maghera need to do better. PatTheDandy (Cavan) - Posts: 282 - 09/08/2020 16:34:20 2286999 Link 0 |
I do think that you greatly overestimated some teams like Mullahoran, Crosserlough and Ramor Utd.

I think it's unfair to say I over-estimated Xlough & Ramor. Per twitter, they appear to have started slightly different if not weakened starting 15's in comparison to the previous week and still got the job done. I can't legislate for strength of lineup. Mullahoran v The Gaels - I probably let heart rule head there as I will admit I do take objection to the Gaels transfer policy and will have to learn to factor that in and focus on the reality at hand going forward. I subsequently note that I was 1 point off the exacta for the Cootehill/Bridge & Swad/Drung result also, which makes it 6 games out of 12 within 1 point. Excellent going by any tipsters standards. You also predicted Castlerahan to beat Shercock by 12 points after the game was played, which was impressive going. Bookies mightn't let you away with that one though.
