Replying To fredflint:  "Great so you'd be ok with them all quitting as we are not good enough and who could blame them anyway. Sure feck it let's not bother field a team at all"
It none of your damn business if they do all quit. They owe you nothing.

Its none of the supporters business if the whole team quit? Then why are you on a GAA forum typing then - assuming you are a supporter? - if that is none of our business then nothing is.

Replying To Ned_Stormcrow:  "You're in denial.

Moynagh was nominated for an all star.

We have no stand out talent coming through the ranks either, it's looking like this very bleak period for Cavan is set to continue. The players know it too, hence the drop outs."
Moynagh had 1 good game, against Armagh the second day. In the games against Tyrone and Donegal he was playing as sweeper and we conceded a total of 2-44. You're in denial if you think that is all star nominee form

Was chatting to an old friend from Butlersbridge last night, and he heard young Reilly might not be involved this year after getting another operation on his foot? Disappointing if true, thought he might be able to take a bit of the slack from Dara leaving.

Bradley joining to Dunboyne. Was that primarily to play County with Meath. He got no game time in the Championship. Cavan can't afford to be letting players go. He is a very good player

It's disappointing to see Conor Bradley moving to Dunboyne, He would be in with a shout of a senior medal with Ramor over the next few years , I'm not sure what the motivation behind the move is but Cavan can't afford to lose any potential forwards,

I think its time we took off the blue tinted glasses. The reality of the situation is the last 2 championship defeats last year has done untold damage to players confidence last year. I would assume the lads were bouncing off the walls last year mad to impress new management & have the opportunity of playing Division 1 again with experience behind them. All upward curve stuff. Division 1 was always going to be tough and relegation was a disappointment. The run in the championship papered the cracks off this relegation in the short term, but when we hit the big boys again we were brought back down to earth. I don't think we are near as bad as the performances suggested but still way of the mark.
I think the players have realised, quicker than some supporters, that expectations don't meet reality. Having said that in order for Cavan to progress we need everyone one board where possible to maintain status in top end of D2 and fight for D1 league football and build towards more days in Clones come Ulster Final Day.

Agree with most of that. Whilst we do need everyone involved, there is a mental fragility and a "we're not worthy" mentality among the players. Attitudes have to change, from the clubs upwards. Dare I suggest that Cavan clubs disrespect the Ulster club championship given their records in it? Why is it so bad?

How many of our Ulster Final squad are unavailable/dropped? McVeety, Clarke, Moynagh, J Galligan, T Galligan, Mackey, C Reilly

How about we drop some of the talk about who isn't on the panel and talk about the dedicated players that are? For example, we can still have a back line of:

Galligan

Another
Faulkner
McLoughlin

Gerry Smith
Brady
Rehill

We're one corner back away from a very strong back seven still and Donal Monahan looked good last weekend.

Then in the forwards we've still Martin Reilly, Niall Murray, Madden & now Ryan Connolly stepping up.

None of the 4 you mentioned will be heavy scorers at county level.

2 years ago Ciaran Brady at centre half forward was our top scorer.

Re midfield, Evan Fortune looked good last weekend. Then Conor Brady and Brian McGhee are also options.

James Smith also worth a shot when he returns from injury.

Well here's a 15 so going on who I believe is in there....

Galligan

Killian Brady
Faulkner
McLoughlin

Gerry Smith
Brady
Rehill

Conor Brady
Evan Fortune

Niall Murray
Martin Reilly
Ryan Connolly

Conor Smith
Conor Madden
Andy Graham/Enda Flanagan

Flanagan or Graham to add a bit of speed up top and keep defenders guessing.

I think that team is good enough to get us out of Division 2 and is on the basis Gearoid, who would be on the 40, and James Smith, who would be midfield, are injured. I'd also like to see Patrick Lynch and Caoimhin O'Reilly but believe both of those are injured.

A few players who were on the panel before had bad Injuries.Mattie Mckenna and Dara Kennedy. What's their situation? David Brady was highly rated a few years ago.
