I guess not. Meet the new manager, same as the old manager."

It's just mind boggling to think that three weeks ago we were preparing for an Ulster final, after beating two decent teams in Monaghan and Armagh.

Can anyone offer an explanation as to what the f*** has happened since the Armagh replay? The collapse in performance levels has been spectacular, I am at a complete loss to explain it.

When was the last time Cavan were beaten by 16 points in a championship game?

That was one hell of a poor way to bring what looked like a promising year to an end.

The performance in the drawn Armagh game wasn't that impressive. Armagh looked the better team for good part of the the game, and missed 3 or 4 goal chances. Cavan played lovely football in replay

The monaghan game was a good first half. They came into it in second half . But monaghan were poor in championship. Fermanagh could have beaten them. And they were hammered by Armagh..

Any idea as to why the performance levels dropped so dramatically?

I suppose this is a knee jerk reaction but what the hell happened today??
Clueless in every section, on and off the pitch.
Back to square one.
Please don't mention transition or young team as we've gone past that now.
Pitiful performance today.
Sad way to end the championship.
Armagh put up a more spirited performance against Mayo.
Where to from here????

Maybe deflated after being outclassed in Ulster final. and then having to face Tyrone instead of a Laois.. Plus Donegal and Tyone have been competing in All Ireland finals in recent years.
Operating at a different level

I can't put my finger on it but probably Terry Hyland fault. That was pathetic. When you see your full back down with cramp on 49 minutes you have to wonder.

No idea, but after the last few games I'd be very concerned about our division 2 status next year. A few weeks ago I would've said we could push for promotion back to division one, at this particular moment in time I'd say nothing is certain, including survival.

The worst part of all of this is that it cost 25 euro to watch that drivel.

I's say there are a lot of Cavan folks who would have taken a "moral victory" or a decent performance over that display tonight. Something seriously wrong there. Were they over-training.

One of the worst days in Cavan football in a long time. Pathetic performance. No heart no guts all the things you expect from any cavan team taking the field.
Have we really made progress? I dont think so. We bet a tired monaghan team . The armagh game was fantastic however I think there style suited us and we seem to have their number. Mattie got slated last year in the qualifiers. I think he realized these boys arent up to it and so decided our only chance of doing anything was parking the bus. We are not good enough to play beautiful attacking football. The last two games showed where we are at.

Have to agree.

The simple reality is we haven't progressed. Making the Ulster final papered over the cracks, and we all seem to have conveniently forgotten that we got relegated from division one with less points this year than we did under McGleenan.
Furthermore, we lost to Tyrone in the qualifiers by just 3 points under McGleenan, today it was 16.

Against these statistics, it's an outright falsehood to claim we've made any progress.

We can analyse things until the cows come home but the simple reality is that even if this cavan group had impeccable work ethic, impeccable discipline and impeccable bottle, the footballers are simply nowhere near as good as the serious counties.

That brings the debate back to our club scene and the fact that 40 clubs is too many. But good luck changing that.

An absolute disgrace , The way the team was lined out , the players effort the game plan was clueless . I actually taught we got a good management team this year but looking at the clueless team set up today and against Tyrone ya would have to wonder , we had natural scoring forwards on the bench yet we had our half back playing (Rehill)as a full forward in the first half . I named a team on this early in the week and I got ridiculed , I guarantee that it wouldn't have got a hammering like what happened today . Questions have to be answered over that disgraceful display today and if the answers isn't acceptable O'rouke is available

I would agree with that. I think Mickey is a good organizer and he will get everyone on board and the players will play for him. But In terms of tactical nous Id have serious question marks when compared to your Mickey Hartes and Malachy O Rourkes.
Saying that these boys just arent good enough.

Calling for the manager to be replaced is crazy. He deserves a second year at least.

We were playing great stuff at the start of the championship but something went drastically wrong after the Armagh game. Whether it was something among the players, maybe a rift, I don't know, but as a paying supporter I'd like an explanation and at least an admittance that performances like today's just aren't acceptable. Longford gave Tyrone much more of a game two weeks ago.

Enjoy the club championships everyone. Chat to you all in January.

How did most of these sane players defeat most of these sane Tyrone players at u21.

How did this cavan u20 team get to an all Ireland semi final and yet at u20 look like a div3 team against Tyrone who didn't feature 2 years ago?

Today's 2 games tell a very sad tale indeed.
