Here, here. Best post I have seen on this forum in a long time. The man's list includes Ray Cullivan who has barely played a club game in the last two years with injury. No offense to the player who has been unfortunate but he can't line out for his club and yet this "expert" wants him called in for the county. We lost to two of the best four teams in the country. The manner of the losses was shocking but, as I've said, I've been to some of the Super 8 games and when comparing them to our League games, I feel we would easily be competitive with the other four teams involved. One thing I can't understand is why, with a 40 man panel, we didn't enter a junior team again. The Meath juniors got to play in Croke Park and their run to the semi final and win in Leinster has given them a huge lift and chance to give players experience. I'd agree we should enter a junior team. Here is the team that win the all Ireland... 1. James Farrelly 2. Damien Barkey 3. James Morris 4. Fergal Reilly 5. Ciaran Brady 6. Brian Sankey 7. Paul Smith 8. Liam Buchanan 9. Packie Leddy (c) 23. Conor Moynagh 11. Chris Conroy 12. Enda Reilly 13. Tom Hayes 14. Enda Hession 15. There definitely should have been a junior team entered into the Leinster junior championship! I taught Mickey said that in one of his early interviews! I think it was a lost opportunity for players like argue mark Stuart James galligan Pierson, ect ect.

Don't be so touchy Sean! Besides - everyone in Cavan knows David Givney is in London. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 4135 - 26/07/2019 09:20:24 2216640 Link 0 |
Thumbs up if you celebrate mediocrity... MadgeKing (Cavan) - Posts: 489 - 26/07/2019 14:46:19 2216796 Link 0 |
That pretty much sums up Cavan football. Happy with mediocrity. "if we win, that's great, and if we lose, that's alright too". Cavan_Shambles (Cavan) - Posts: 406 - 26/07/2019 14:58:11 2216801 Link 0 |
I think if you read Killian Clarke's comments on the main page where he says the last 2 performances " took a bit of a shine off things" was how he described it. That's the kind of mentality your up against. Inaroundehouse (Cavan) - Posts: 975 - 26/07/2019 16:50:42 2216841 Link 1 |
Yes ! A bit of a shine! More like a f ing mess.! If that's a bit of a shine off it I don't know what to say!

Why is he always willing to give interviews.? Best say nothing, then giving silly statements to the media. FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2216 - 26/07/2019 18:00:04 2216863 Link 0 |
Some of the posters on here have lost the run of themselves completely in terms of their expectations even allowing for the mischievous comments from the usual WUMs ondforty (Cavan) - Posts: 442 - 26/07/2019 20:14:10 2216911 Link 0 |
When years of negative football was being played and over 100 players tried at senior level anyone who disagreed was slated on here because we had a Cavan man in charge and he was a god as far as posters here were concerned. Nobody expects Mickey Graham to work miracles in his first year especially when the last Cavan manager had 5 years and he couldn't make a fist of it. But I do expect players to play for the jersey, show some willing, guts, heart. Even in defeat. Now this did not happen against Tyrone . A point you seem to have overlooked. Until this happens it's doesnt matter who is manager. Be up for it. Even in defeat. Like Cork were like Meath were like Roscommon were in their super 8 games. We did not show any willing against Tyrone . Biggest game in years and we lay down. Disgraceful performance and the players should hold their hands up. Time for him to quit talking. I'm fed up reading what he has to say.

There's more to progress than winning matches. Progress is determined by improved performances .

Progress is measured in small forward steps and we have made some The facts are as follows. We got relegated this year from division one with less points than we did in 2017. Furthermore, in 2018 we lost to Tyrone in the qualifiers by 3 points, this year it was 16. Try and put a positive spin on that. Because to claim that these facts are indicative of "progress" is an outright falsehood. Cavan_Shambles (Cavan) - Posts: 406 - 27/07/2019 17:53:23 2217158 Link 0 |
I see on social media the 2 main men of our new mgmt. were given cars by one of our main sponsors. PatTheDandy (Cavan) - Posts: 282 - 02/08/2019 11:33:36 2219700 Link 0 |
I see on social media the 2 main men of our new mgmt. were given cars by one of our main sponsors. It was my understanding that one of the two was leaving the setup as they were not getting along/political differences. But if they are both getting cars perhaps that is not the case? Shambles, my measure of progress was centred around our performances after the Galway league match and up to the Armagh replay, in terms of our style of play and energy levels, which you would know since you read my post. This was a real improvement from the previous negative rubbish. I don't claim to be ecstatic about everything else. I certainly didn't claim to be overjoyed at the facts you mentioned. You're the one guilty of a 'an outright falsehood ' by linking my post to those facts. Our performance against Tyrone was like yourself, a Cavan Shambles. Time will tell if we are on a real progress path in the coming league. I believe that Mickey has the ability to regroup, replace a few players with better, and perhaps his mgnt team too, and get us back to Div 1 playing decent attacking football. ondforty (Cavan) - Posts: 442 - 02/08/2019 15:16:51 2219798 Link 0 |
Fair enough if I misinterpreted your post. I understand what you're saying but it's no consolation for how the year ended up. I just think it's a futile exercise to put faith in a broken system. Tweaking things here and there by playing such and such a player is avoiding the fundamental reality that football in this county is broken from the ground up. Hoping that things might improve next year is what we've done every year. For the last fifty years. Like, have we to endure this failure every year until time immemorial? What I wonder is, what is wrong with the people administering the games in Cavan that they can't recognise patterns? Would you personally agree that a solitary Ulster title for a half a century's worth of effort is indicative of a county that is doing something fundamentally wrong? What meaningful difference did the U21 success make at senior level? To date, the net effect of it was to go from division three to division two, contesting one Ulster final. So we're in the midst of the club championship now, and I wonder how well Cavan clubs will fare in Ulster? I have a fair idea, and it's not a positive one. Its very tiring dealing with the same result every Summer. Cavan_Shambles (Cavan) - Posts: 406 - 02/08/2019 16:32:01 2219823 Link 0 |
