One swallow never made a summer as Cavan showed tonight. We're back to the Jeckl and Hyde performances. I seem to recall beating Roscommon by a cricket score line in Mullingar only for Tyrone to thump us by a big a similar score next time out.
More indiscipline didn't help.
Bar a miracle relegation imminent.
Mickey has his work cut out.

Replying To fredflint:  "I agree but I just get the feeling it could be different now. Maybe I am deluded? I just think Tyrone are struggling to score (except for when Harte hits a purple patch) and our defence has been good so far plus we are getting a nice spread of scores. Gerry Smith being back is a great boost as is Moynagh, two lads that should have no fear of these Tyrone players having consistently been better than them at underage. No Colm Cavanagh who has beat us on his own before. I just think our boys, if they really really want it, have it in them to end this horrible record against Tyrone."
Sorry to break it to you, but you are deluded. You have an abundance of optimism, but to tell you the truth it is blind optimism. You accuse people of being negative yet refuse to acknowledge what is happening on the pitch. Four losses in five games. Relegation almost certain.

The cold hard facts are a bitter pill to swallow.

Quick question was Killian Clarke sending off a straight red or two yellows? 2nd weekend in a row has shown what a red card can do to a contest...

If we beat Monaghan we stay up

Nope. We need all sorts of permutations to go our way. Extremely unlikely. But not impossible.

How are you coming up with that logic? 2 teams go down, Cavan are bottom on 2 pts. 4pts isn't going to keep you up. Unless a few miracles happen..

Maybe I am deluded and I am very disappointed in what I witnessed today, yet again one of our players (a repeat offender) letting his team down with a stupid red card. However I would rather be deluded than someone who takes joy in seeing his own team beat and races to his laptop to say as much. Sad man you are.

Glad you are back lad, missed you last week. What is it about Cavan that has supporters that only comment when we lose. Says more about the poster than the team to be honest. I am gutted we lost but we deserved to lose and our performance was no where near good enough.

I haven't seen the last 2 games as I'm out of the country. So therefore can't comment . And haven't. But I do enjoy your comments because your so far off the mark is laughable. Anyway we are well use to getting tanked by Tyrone so what's new? Least the Roscommon Hoodoo has been but to bed . Something our Saviour never managed to do.

That was one of the worst displays I seen from a Cavan team in a long time , In fairness to the backs they worked hard in the first half but was under way too much pressure , we had no outlet in the forward line , there is two to three players that's not up to county standard, they give great effort but it doesn't work for them . We seriously need to sort out the free taking . Another thing I can't understand is in club matches there is players on the team that will easily kick scores from 40 yards out, are they told not to shoot unless there standing underneath the post or the fear of the stats if they miss . On the plus side the new player Rehill has well impressed , Thomas Galligan looks like a good midfielder in the making, should have started in my opinion. Not to be negative about the manager I think he got the set up wrong in this one , the team that finished the game was our strongest team . Sometimes you learn more in defeat than in victory .

It's actually not entirely ridiculous to suggest that a win over Monaghan might be enough to see us survive.

If we beat Monaghan we'd go to 4 points and would finish ahead of them on the head to head rule assuming that they only win 1 of their other 2 games.

Therefore if roscommon lose their remaining 3 games and finish on 3 points, we would survive. If roscommon, ourselves and Monaghan finish on 4 points each then score difference comes into it which will likely make last night's embarrassment fatal.

The worry would be that roscommon still have to play Kerry at home in the last round, when Kerry will likely have nothing to play for. Not to mention the worry that we don't have a freetaker or an elite inside forward. What we do have is a discipline problem. Red cards away to donegal, mayo and Tyrone already this year, not to mention being reduced to 12 men in salthill at one stage.

Can you point out where I said or indeed inferred that I was happy to see my own team lose?

No. You can't. Because it has never happened. So not only are you deluded (sorely deluded in my opinion) but you're also hallucinating i.e. seeing things that aren't there.

I think the best suggestion was what someone mentioned last week - there is no point engaging with the negative posters. They weren't here last week after the win and now they're back again, surprise, surprise.
Losing to us by nine points last week didn't suddenly make Roscommon a bad team and losing to Tyrone doesn't suddenly make Cavan a bad one.
The fact of the matter is we played 35 minutes of good football and were in the game but things couldn't have gone much worse in the second half.
Discipline needs to be looked at but Mickey Graham can't be asked to solve a problem we've had for more than the last decade in a number of months.
You need to learn from defeats and the hope is the lads will see now how badly a sending off can effect us. Better learn it now than in the Summer.
Staying in Division 1 is not impossible but a large task.
We've a solid backline with players like McLoughlin performing well last night. The forwards need work but Gearoid and Caoimhin should be returning soon enough and a fully fit Gerry Smith could provide an option there or allow Dara to stay forward more often.

Fully agree with that breffniguide, free taking is a problem too but I think g Mac and caoimhin can solve some of that problem, it was always going to be a big ask after the sending off, playing 36 minutes a man down v Tyrone was going to be impossible.

Not really miracles
Roscommon probably won't win another game
If we beat Monaghan they would need at least three points from their other two games so its very possible that four points keeps us up on head to head.

Hyland did manage to beat roscommon .

I presume you're referring to Hyland when you say saviour because that's what you used to call him under your old username. . .

And the one before that. .

Roscommon are on 3 pts not 2... They are capable of beating Galway.. They played well today against Dublin and will have Kerry at home in final game. Kerry will have secured a league final by then, likely.

The 2 results went our way today anyway. We needed that after last night.

Must win next weekend and then see where things lie. I do fancy Galway to beat Roscommon. They've a shout of a league final themselves and will be confident after their win last night.
