Replying To BootIt:  "Caomhin is no longer on the panel."
If hes not how come I heard Mickey Graham say last week that he was back in training?

We really need Caomhin and Connolly , we still lack scoring forwards , we can't afford to be having 17 wides against the better teams , any news on Ryan Connolly is he in the panel

I don't think Ryan Connolly went in! It's a pity Conor Smith got injured, the lads done very good Sunday.

I believe Connolly didn't commit this year.

Well said. I've been guilty of indulging them in the past but there's no point. They'll always have a negative.
Bottom line is things came together Sunday. We still have three tough games left but we've a small chance of staying up. I still think the Galway game was a missed opportunity and it'd just a pity it came so early in the league. We're also unfortunate that we only got three home games and two were against Dublin/Kerry.
Some huge results needed but Sunday showed this management and panel can move us in the right direction.

Well done Cavan management & team ! Finally got an encouraging performance and 2 points.
Hard work, endeavour, team effort, patience and willingness to work as a team really paid off. Real positive stuff and lots to improve on. The team played with great freedom and really expressed themselves. Let's go out with the same ruthless relentless will to win and you never know what might happen. Nothing to fear in Tyrone especially without the Cavanaghs ! Cavan are a Division 1 side ! There won't be much in the game and may take a black card or red card to swing this eitherway. Tyrone generally play on the edge and if Cavan pressurize their full back line, something will give if the ref is strong enough ! On the other hand, we must not be naive and get sucked into situations as happened Roscommon at the end of their game v Tyrone. Play like last week, close down Peter Harte, give Tiernan McCann something to think above & improve the conversion rate. Need to be physically strong and hunt wolfishly for the ball for 80 minutes. My young fella says "Take your shots & the points will come !" - I say - Keep the goals coming - It trumps everything ! It's time for Mickey Harte to give someone else a chance ! This Tyrone is no ways as good as any of the previous ones. I hope there'll be plenty of support up there on Saturday night. I think it could make a difference. Don't be silent ! We need something out of this game.

Heard similar talk to this last year before we played them in the championship but for a poor team they still managed to get to the All Ireland final. There are no poor teams in Division 1and that includes ourselves , it took a masterclass in free taking by O'Shea for Kerry to beat us and a dubious Mayo goal was our downfall in Castlebar. We may beat Tyrone this weekend but it won't be because they've suddenly become a poor team.

Paddy Power have us at 10/3 Saturday night and are expecting a 4 point Tyrone win. What's a bit more galling is that they have odds listed for every other team winning Division 1 but haven't bothered to list Cavan even though we are second from bottom.

This Cavan team need a scalp, something to build on and something to give them the belief that they can not just compete but win at this level. Tyrone are last year's All Ireland finalists, a result up there would be massive.

I smell a shock here. Make sure you are there to see it. Tyrone rely too heavily on Peter Harte, take him out of the game and we are half way there.

they certainly do- but in most games against Tyrone he has not been managed and been allowed to have a big impact on the games between us. I really hope I am wrong but I think that Tyrone's experience and history against us will get them over the line. their is too much as stake for them too.

I agree but I just get the feeling it could be different now. Maybe I am deluded? I just think Tyrone are struggling to score (except for when Harte hits a purple patch) and our defence has been good so far plus we are getting a nice spread of scores. Gerry Smith being back is a great boost as is Moynagh, two lads that should have no fear of these Tyrone players having consistently been better than them at underage. No Colm Cavanagh who has beat us on his own before. I just think our boys, if they really really want it, have it in them to end this horrible record against Tyrone.

People making Tyrone out to be a one man team are very foolish.

McGeary, Sludden, Mattie Donnelly & McAliskey all made stuff happen for Tyrone last year without Harte handing it to them on their run to All Ireland and are as good if not better than the attackers we have.

They appear to have made a slow start but perhaps Mickey H took the same approach as Jim McGuinness did other years and trained them very hard during the week with a focus on the c''ship that left them heavy legged for the first few games and they are coming to the bucket now.

Cavan can win with another big performance like the last game and less wides but Tyrone are worthy favourites even though Paddy Power's prices are a good bit of I'd say. 1/2 and 2/1 would be more accurate I would think. Cavan worth a bet at 7/2 I think, as I recall Sean Cavanagh and other Tyrone players have been quoted as saying they don't like Omagh as a home ground.

Prediction: Tyrone 0-15 Cavan 1-13
Padraig Faulkner to bundle in a goal in scrappy fashion late in the first half after following a defensive minded corner forward up the field.

Great to see some positivity on this forum for a change with out the usual posts running down every aspect of our county team and management.

I'm afraid if Cavan is not careful they will beat themselves tomorrow as in giving away frees in scoreable positions, and Tyrone does play for the handy free around the forward mark. If I was to pick one of our weakness it would be giving away handy frees , Roscommon kept themselves in the game last week with frees same as Kerry against us

All over the place. A painful way to be brought right back down to earth and the cold hard reality is, we're just not at the level of the big boys.

Good post Fredflint. Yes was there and saw those 2 points from play in 75 minutes. You were right about Peter Harte but then again everyone knew that part. There was no secret there. How's the nose? Your sense of smell come back?
