Are the Cavan fans (so called) going to travel Saturday evening ? In Ballybofey the support (so called) was pathetic !
Brewster kind of home from home, surely with the weather picking up again lads will get out and support their team.
Its all well and good going on about who isn't in the panel and who should be, etc, etc ! ! These are the guys who committed in January and brought us back to Division 1 when no one predicted, so fair is fair and less of the moaning and giving out ? Lets do our bit and hear that Cavan roar again.

The close call against Down in the league will hopefully be living strong in the players' minds. Down are always dangerous and have the individual talent to beat Cavan.
Beating teams in or around our level at this stage in the Championship has been our weakness for a few years now since we became a more competitive side. A win here might mentally stir the team into action as the Super 8s would seem much closer.

I'd like to see a bit more from McVeety on Saturday, we need him to excel. I would like to see a team with a better balance between defence and attack because our last 3 games have been to each extreme. Mattie also needs to bring back some of that faultless game management from the early league. There's been some rash and baffling decisions on the line lately.

The opportunity is there for a great summer in the Super 8s, we have the talent to do it and no top echelon teams in our way just yet to spoil the party. Best of luck to Mattie and the Cavan men!

Replying To Cavan-Hero:  "Mackey....on the bench....are you serious?

Hes the only forward we have with a bit of creativity about him. Johnston in the free role v Antrim was shocking

Galligan

McLoughlin
Clarke
Flanagan

Reilly
Faulkner
Holla

McKiernan
Moynagh

Mackey
Kiernan
Muray

Caoimhin
Cole
McVeety"
Mackey is a great option off the bench. Can swing momentum for us especially against less fresh legs. But it wouldn't disappoint me to see him start. I think gunner deserves to start. You know exactly what you'll get from him, 100% commitment. Defensively though his aggressive style has a tendancy to attract the ire of referees. I think his style might suit the rough and tumble of midfield better. And we are lacking in that department.

I think we need both gunner and figs in defense we need there intensity and aggression, i would have Jason in half back and move Martin reilly to half forward where he can run at the defense and shoot like dara on the other wing.

Let's talk football...Cavan to beat Down pulling up !"
I know you didn't mean any harm, it just went on a bit, having said that if it was a normal conversation face to face the topic would have been covered in a few minutes, its just magnified a bit here. but yes, i'm going for a cavan win, they need this win badly. I'm expecting them to accept nothing less than a win and do everything in their power to get it.

Yes, it was pathetic. I was there and could see very few blue jerseys in the crowd.

But I don't blame the Cavan people for not going to support the team, I think they're fully justified staying at home.

For years, we listened to the phrase "The future is blue" and of course it simply hasn't transpired, with many of our best players not interested in wearing the jersey. Our underage success has made the minimal of impacts at senior level. It has been really disappointing to be a Cavan support these past few years after so much optimism, so I suppose the Cavan people are deflated and very underwhelmed by the team.

The only way to fix this is for the county team to give us something to shout about. Reaching division 1 is good, but the reality is we all want an Ulster title and days out in Croke Park.

Maybe we can start something this Saturday, think we'll shade it by a point or two.

Attendances have being falling for provincial championship for the last few years. However from quater final stage on they've never being higher. Shows the football championship itself needs a shake up.

Yeah conversation did drag on unnecessarily.

And good news for Cavan ......Donal O'Hare, who notched 0-4 in Ulster semi-final defeat to Donegal, has been ruled out with a knee injury !

Why is the team not named yet?

As posted yesterday on the Cavan home section.
Cavan boss Mattie McGleenan has made two changes, one enforced, for tomorrow's All-Ireland SFC qualifier meeting with Down at Brewster Park.

With former captain Killian Clarke unavailable due to injury, Niall Murray and Conor Bradley come in at wing-forward and corner-forward respectively.

Butlerbridge's Caoimhin O'Reilly drops to the bench as Bryan Magee switches to midfield where he partners Sean McCormack in the absence of Clarke.

Cavan (All-Ireland SFC v Down): James Farrelly; Killian Brady, Padraig Faulkner, Enda Flanagan; Ciaran Brady, Conor Moynagh, Martin Reilly; Sean McCormack, Bryan Magee; Oisin Kiernan, Gearoid McKiernan, Niall Murray; Conor Bradley, Dara McVeety, Sean Johnston.

Subs: Raymond Galligan, Cian Mackey, Fergal Reilly, David Brady, Niall Clerkin, Jack Wharton, Adrian Cole, Donal Monahan, Caoimhin O'Reilly, Stephen Murray, Jason McLoughlin.

Why is Raymond Galligan dropped? He's one of the best goalkeepers in the country.

We have a weak and inexperienced midfield as well.

Good luck to the lads, but I'm not sure if we're good enough to get a win with this team.

The best of luck to the Cavan today. COME ON THE BREIFNE BLUES. Great day so everyone should get down to Brewster park and big vocal support needed.

Terrific stuff from Cavan. Cavan wont fear anyone in qualifiers and should go all the way in super 8's....the future is blue

Worst performance I have seen from Cavan in a long long time. McGleenan must go, absolutely clueless playing without a forward for 45 minutes.
Down lost their 5 best players in Harrison, McKiernan, Mooney, Johnston and Turley. Cormac O Reilly got us over the line along with the goalkeeping howler which gave us a lifeline.
It's a pity they didn't put us out of our misery unfortunately.

Complete disgrace. Playing the sweeper system doesn't mean that players don't have to take individual responsibility to tackle oncoming attackers. We simply hope that someone else will step up but it's not happening. How do you expect to wins games with no one inside our 45. Caoinhin was our go to man in the league and now hes not starting. As for the ref today, he shouldnt be allowed to ref an ulster game again. Losing mcvity and moynagh for the next day is a massive loss. Last word to James farrelly, fabulous save to save the bacon. Mattie,,lwake up to the music or go!!!

Why are you blaming the referee if two of our senior players think they can do what they like after the final whistle they deserve everything they got.
They can consider themselves lucky to be in the draw Monday morning. Simple error cost Down and why they went for a goal with only a point in it beggars belief.
Wise up please there is not a star amongst them including the management.

That was a very tough watch. The crowd were getting nervous towards the end, as there was a real possibility of having to endure extra time. Horrible football, and I use the term football loosely. Everything that could have went Cavan's way did (black cards, red card, injuries, own goal, etc) and without them you really couldn't have seen them coming away with the win. The funny thing is that we still have a realistic chance of the super 8s with a bit of luck in the draw.
