The Ham
Tomsmith here

I fully agree with you that Breffni Park has not stood up well this year. As for Mr Rinn BA he was indisposed and he is not to blame. I feel that our County grounds should be the show case field and that we need to do whatever it takes to get it right
Welcome back Sean a Cara and I wish your well in your recovery as we need you at Breffni Park. While you don't support the Gaels as your first team you will be very welcome should we won Ulster to join in our celebrations

Cavan Gaels to win by at least 6 points on Sunday.
I can believe the state of the pitch up in Breffni.
Sean ORinn you complain about weather etc but the weather was the same everywhere and Butlerbridge pitch is immaculate.
Its all about how its kept and maintained and not abused. We need somebody proper to look after and maintain Breffni Park and surely somebody is getting paid to do that,,there hasnt been any matches on it in two weeks surely Pruntys should have been got in for this Sunday to have it looking its best for an Ulster Club competition.

Daddknowbest no need for that. I'm sure a almost brand new pitch with little ball played on it the last few months couldnt be any other way other than immaculate.

Breffni has seen lots of games in poor weather and needs digging up.

Have been to a lot of grounds over the last couple of months and Breffni has to be one of the worst pitches I've stepped on. Im not sure who's responsibility it is but something needs to be done in the future to look after it. From the outside looking in better field management and maintenance crew is needed.

Danddyknowsbest and the Ham.

Tomsmith here senior poster.
I take it that you two posters under your new names are not novices and while one of you has posted 7 times and the other 12 times your criticism of staff at Breffni park has no place in relation to the weather that we had over the past 3 month..
I feel that the staff has done wonderful work and my best friend Sean O Rinn BA was indisposed for a period of time. We welcome back Sean and hopefully under his and others guidance Breffni will return. In would be disappointed that we don't have a perfect field . Back to the Gaels future in Ulster lets hope that the heavy grounds doesn't affect this great footballing team. Again I say lets all support the Cavan representatives as this great Club/team deserves our support

The sending off ruined Ballymachughs chances. They were leading up to that.
So important in winter football especially club to keep 15 on the field.
If the Gaels can keep their discipline and keep 15 on the field they should win.

Quick point on the refereeing in the ballymachugh game last night. The ref destroyed the game. He gave a black card to ballymachugh full forward james kiernan within the first minute and then sent centre back Anthony Baxter off 10 mins before half time for 2 yellows. It seems refs are being rewarded for giving players the line. Its a joke really.

It's unfortunate this happened as Kiernan was one of your quality players and I suppose Anthony Baxter was playing center half back so yes both a huge loss. I am sorry to read that.

Good performance by Cavan Gaels . Kicked some nice scores.
The result was never in doubt from the early stages.
Derrygonnelly will be a notch tougher but a real chance there to reach the final.
Think Kilcar v Gaels could be a real good open game of attacking football if both got through.

Should have won by more. Pity about the small Gaels crowd there. More neutrals and people from Antrim.

I never blamed seanorinn at all but if he is indisposed surely somebody else has to be given the job to maintain the pitch.
Cavan Gaels are a team that does not like a sticky boggy pitch so it is up to the people in Breffni Park to give Cavan Gaels the best possible chance to beat the team in front of them with a pitch that suits them. What i seen in Breffni yesterday did not suit them.
Whos fault is it that so many games were played in Breffni?? Some games have to be prioritised and moved to a different venue as in the hurling and camogie matches should not be played on it especially with the weather. A complete dig up is needed and hopefully games prioritised for the future

I think the pitched looked good at the weekend for the game except for the goal mouth and area in front of it.

Most of Gaels crowd only turn up for finals and consult the programme to see who is wearing what number before shouting their name in praise or ridicule !!!

Only 1 game to go and they could be in the final. I actually fancy them to get to the final at least.
Slaughtneil will be raging hot favourites but Kilcar could turn them over.
Gaels Kilcar would be a good open game of football if it happened.

What would make you think there would be an open game of football if Killcar were in the Final....???

Kilcar play attacking football. And the reports from the Scotstown game confirm that.

You didn't see highlights of the Donegal SFC final then?

I was actually at the Donegal co final and by all accounts it went along the expected lines.
Kilcar did what they had to do to get over the line after 24 years and well Naomi chonail play the same as they always played . Defensive defensive defensive . Something that McGuinness instilled years ago and been carried on by successive managers to great effect might I add until Kilcar came and beat them at their own game hence the 0-7 to 0-4 scoreline . 2 points of that coming in the 2nd half . Both from frees if I remember correctly .
Kilcar will beat Slaughtneil I have no doubt and the Gaels will beat Derrygonnelly this paving the way for a good open game of fast football .
You don't go to Scotstown scoring 1-16 playing defensive football
