Tipperary should play down first, it puts us at a disadvantage if they don't play down before us.

You hit the nail on the head.... IF you come in the top 2. My opinion is at the moment we are NOT good enough for Div 1. That was proved last Sunday and will be confirmed against Tipp. Sad but unfortunately true . Inaroundehouse (Cavan) - Posts: 975 - 20/03/2018 14:48:21 2086258 Link 0 |
Makes sense to play the fixtures as planned. We need to beat Tipp to get promoted. If we cannot beat them there is no point in getting promoted to Div 1. Breffniman1 (Cavan) - Posts: 25 - 20/03/2018 15:37:58 2086282 Link 0 |

We have to make sure we win it's that simple. The Quiet Man (Cavan) - Posts: 4565 - 20/03/2018 15:42:07 2086286 Link 0 |
It's not right but I don't think it'll make a huge difference. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 4135 - 20/03/2018 16:31:00 2086311 Link 0 |
I think It's sensible to go ahead with the round 7 fixtures this weekend. If ourselves and Roscommon win then the league final can go ahead as planned. Of course if we both lose then the Tipp v Down resheduled match may have significence for most of the teams in the division. s goldrick (Cavan) - Posts: 5356 - 20/03/2018 17:56:58 2086342 Link 0 |
Am sure Tipperary are absolutely delighted to be arriving to Breifne next Sunday nice and rested and not having to make another trip North after a tough game against Down in Newry. Joebe (Cavan) - Posts: 72 - 20/03/2018 19:59:26 2086390 Link 0 |
They also might be slightly rusty.

Out of curiosity whats tipp are good in semple and not so good out of there based on? since 2016 we lost to longford away in the league (2016), kerry away munster final (2016), cork away championship (2017). Thats not the worst away record league and championship youll see, weve lost more games in semple in that time. Anyway that really has nothing to do with it, should be a great game sunday and a real 50/50 played as a championship match tipp11 (Tipperary) - Posts: 344 - 20/03/2018 21:43:04 2086449 Link 0 |
t's not right but I don't think it'll make a huge difference. If Tipp beat us they go up. If we win we go up. If it's a draw, Tipp will know that a win against down puts them up. If we can't win at home with what's at stake then I don't think we can have any complaints about them getting that advantage. We've known exactly what we need to do since the win against down. You could argue that the fixtures have favoured us in that regard. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 2896 - 20/03/2018 16:31:00 2086311 Post Reply Information not correct if Tipp beat Cavan they will have 9 points if Cork beat Roscommon they will have 9 points as well, so if Tip beat Down they are promoted and Roscommon as well on the head to head with Cavan it's that simple so Cavan have to get minimum of one point in the hope that Cork beat Roscommon and Down can do us a favor but if Cavan lose I feel head to head not come into play but score difference and Cavan have a superior score difference than Roscommon and as it stands an inferior score difference to Tip. So to solve all problem beat Tip and let the rest worry about them self's. The Quiet Man (Cavan) - Posts: 4565 - 20/03/2018 22:59:28 2086476 Link 0 |
Yes . us Cavan folk know how good you are on the road, sure disn't yis knock us out of the championship last year. As you say a 50/50 game. The goals seem to have dried up for us recently. We need to start scoring goals again. A few players need to get the head. up

What information is not correct!? If we win we go up. If Tipp win they go up (unless down hammer them and cork beat roscommon) cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 4135 - 21/03/2018 05:38:03 2086502 Link 0 |
Yes we did in a game we both saw how good and bad each other could be, 1st half we were really poor and ye were brilliant and kicked some brilliant scores, 2nd half the complete opposite. Goals haven't been a problem for us to come by this year but this will be a real test in that regard, Cavan have only conceded two so it would seem are well drilled and organised in preventing goals. It's great to be looking forward to what's virtually a championship match in March!

Sunday was a small blip, I think we will learn a few lessons from this defeat - this Cavan Team is heading up to Division One and I have no doubt with the football we are playing at the moment, we will be competitive. Do not be surprised if Cork beat Roscommon on Sunday. cavanblueman (Cavan) - Posts: 441 - 21/03/2018 15:05:58 2086642 Link 0 |
We had the Black Death for 5 long years. Great to see players being allowed to express themselves by a manager who seems to know what he's doing even though he only in his 2nd year. I'm not convinced we are good enough for Div 1 yet but we are playing better more attractive football. Inaroundehouse (Cavan) - Posts: 975 - 21/03/2018 17:40:21 2086713 Link 0 |
The Black Death entered Cavan football the year after Eamon Coleman and didn't leave until Terry took over, dark ,barren years flirting with Division 4 and out of championship by late June, pride is back!!! ramor101 (Cavan) - Posts: 287 - 21/03/2018 20:33:20 2086770 Link 6 |
Give it a rest and stop whinging about TH, as someone said on this forum anyone who was happy with TH is also now happy for Matt and the team, you are showing yourself to be very small minded and petty

C'mon breffni47, it's a serious condition that he has to deal with every day of his life. He needs to get his fix every couple of pages.

Wrong...the Black Death was created by Terry...he ruined some good footballers with his tactics, and moreso, the attendances in Breffni Park were at a record low during his tenure.

Give Mattie 5 years and see what we win and where he leaves us then. We had posters here calling for his head at the start of the league campaign. He's got us playing football. It's no big crime if we don't get promotion. We are well capable of beating Donegal, a team that could end up in Div 2 next year .That would be a bigger boost for Cavan football than winning promotion and coming straight back down next year. The Black Death days of slow laboured lateral defensive tripe are well and truly over! Inaroundehouse (Cavan) - Posts: 975 - 22/03/2018 11:24:01 2086903 Link 0 |
