Sean, it's just fantastic to be in the situation we find ourselves in with three games to go. When the team, 13 changes, took the field against Clare a few short weeks ago, with the backdrop of the Tyrone result and our insipid exit from last year's Championship, who would have believed that we would be indulging in the possibilities of a promotion.

i assume Mattie is adopting the one game at a time approach. In hindsight, his revolution has been helped by our relegation to Division 2. He would not have got away with such wholesale surgery if we were in Division 1. Fortune does favour the brave!

i had to smile when listening to McHugh on the radio last Sunday. When asked about the Cavan scenario, he said that he attended the Cavan v Clare game and he though they were both very poor teams and would struggle. Well one of those teams has 7 points on the board and the other has 4 points on the board with three rounds to go.

I was slated over something very trivial regarding the county pitch in Cavan yet not one word about the condition or adverse comment towards the groundsman regarding the terrible condition of the spectacular Park Ui Chaoimh PITCH Very strange to say the least but I know the poster had an issue with me personally and not the pitch in general. Considering the spent near on 85 million it was a disgrace to even allow one game on it let alone two."
Have to agree with Sean on the state of the pitch, more like the old Terry Coyle pitch than a new development, sand bunkers everywhere.. To put hurlers out on that was a disgrace.

In any case, good to get the points and the pints, nice to have something to celebrate. For sure we are facing into significant challenges from Tipp and Ross. never mind the fact that Down were always able to put it up to us no matter what their general form was. Mattie is on a roll now at the right time. His true credentials will be revealed if and when he makes match winning switches/substitutions in the summer. That's the test of a good manager. To be even contemplating promotion with three games remaining is a big surprise to me.

Well I'm glad 25 players listened to him back in 97.

I've enjoyed the calm and realistic approach on here in relation to promotion chances.

Looks like that is out the window now and queue the meltdown on here if we don't get promoted! Lets beat Down next. Thats all we need to worry about. I dont think Mattie or the lads are talking about division 1 next year just yet.

Time for calm and continuation of a good start. When we get excited, generally the wheels tend to come off...

Thank you for that information so it's in our own hands as it is with Down Tipperary and Roscommon and also Cork. They cannot relax and think job done if they want promotion however job is done as we are safe in division2

Correct, perhaps if they hadn't been handpassing around in circles we could have won that All Ireland. Was definetly there for the taking,

My word! Just checking out the various county posts on a snow day. Great to see the passion & number of posts by our neighbours. Think promotion inevitable for Cavan & really, really hope that you can stay in Division 1. It's a tough place to be, as you know, but it toughens teams. Best of luck lads - hope to meet ye up here next year!

My guess is they will push all the Saturday games to Sunday. By Sunday at 2-3 pm most snow should be gone and frost cleared up.

I'm sitting here thinking;there's 9 inches of snow on the field but how can they work Terry Hyland into this narrative....... and then lookout.......here comes Inaroundehouse

With all the changes over the last few months, you have to hand it to the management team and players to have done as well as they have.
We're safe in Div 2 and promotion would be a bonus. We need to work on the Joe Schmitt theory of building a panel of players working together towards the same goal.

Yes it's brilliant but is this going to be the panel for the championship when it starts. No matter it will be fantastic if we get promotion back to division 1 it will have been a good three months.
